He certainly could transfer to IU or many other power 5 schools.

True. I do forget sometimes we have the immediate tranafer rule..

But I never thought that was something a sophomore at UK would do. I suspect that to be more of a freshman thing.. like Toppin or Ware or Askew.

This whole season was so odd and out of the ordinary, even for Cal.

It seemed like nobody improved very much. Keion looked better as a freshman than he did this year.
For sure. We get the awesome team game in the opener against Morehead and think it's going to be one hell of a year. And then the rest of the year happened. We get the awesome game from Keion in his first game back against Florida and then not sure what the heck happened after that. Just such a weird year across the board. Hopefully we get a return to normal next year.

Throw Allen on that list and we’re all happy

I mean it will be better but we are still losing a lot off of a 9-16 team.

Does anyone actually believe our team will be a FF contender next year? I mean really? Or more of a 18-12/17-13 out of the top 25 all year type year? At which point the same half dozen or so Calipari guys on here will talk about how much improvement they saw.

I'd be surprised if that didn't happen.

I think a top 20-25 team. The SEC coaches have figured us out. We will have losses as always in SEC but now the SEC is much better. Bama, Ark, LSU, Tenn are the best going into next season. 5 Seed in the NCAAT and we'll see if we can get past the first weekend.

25-9 season

what players will be on this team going 25-9? That seems very optimistic to me.

same ole.

“devin askew will turn into Wall in the offseason”
“Damion Collins is Anthony Davis 2.0”
“Nolan Hickman is the real deal”
“Hopkins shot 12% from 3 in HS but once JC gets ahold of him he’ll improve to 13%!”

Starting lineup:

C - Oscar Tshiebwe
F - Daimon Collins
F - Bryce Hopkins (12% 3 point shooter in HS)
G - Nolan Hickman (34% 3 point shooter in HS)
G - Skyy Clark (37% 3 point shooter in HS)

Bench:
Keion Brooks Jr.
Lance Ware
Dontae Allen (leaves as mid season transfer)
Jacob Toppin
Zan Payne
Nude Tayne
Transfer from McNeese St.

Gonna be more of the same. We'll be running lineups with Tshiebwe, Collins, and Toppin or Brooks on the floor at the same time. We'll be handing the ball off to Ware and Collins 25' from the basket per usual and running the GD weave.

I would welcome him back with open arms. I will never turn down a junior player in Cal's system. The more experience the better.

Keion is a good kid who plays hard. I could see him having a breakout year next year and possibly developing into a first round pick.
Agree.

Really hope he comes back. Had high expectations for him coming into this season. It felt like he did nothing. I was surprised looking at his stat line to see he averaged 10 points and nearly 7 rebs.

Injuries set him back going into this season. He should take a big leap going into next season

If enough guys come back and we (maybe) add someone like Powell, I doubt we're "out of the top 25" all year.
I think some fans are overreacting to a disastrous anomaly of a season.

Again, there are a lot of question marks; Do enough players come back, do any of them make any substantial improvement, do we add at least one more key transfer?

But I think next year's team can be quite good if everything comes together.
Maybe more of the typical start the season rough but looking good by February-March like a lot of Cal teams before this season.

Could be wrong, though. God knows I didn't predict this season.
If our final record for next season actually ends up looking something like what you're currently predicting then yeah, it'll be time to move on from Cal.

We had all of the teams listed beat - or we did beat them - even during this atrocity of a season. We won’t run the table, but I don’t think the SEC has passed us by or anything.

There isn’t a kid on this team that doesn’t need to play more, grow more, mature more... None of these players are bad people they’re just not pro ready at this point and there isn’t a thing wrong with that!... But that’s just me saying that... It’s Cal’s World and I’m just a fan who he says should sit back and enjoy the game... Well I tried that for a few games and it didn’t happen.

The good thing about transfers this year is the staff will be able to pluck an even better player to fill the spot. With the transfer waiver when one of our “starters” leaves we can do better. There are 100 better players than Brooks out there. He is not like getting PJ Washington back.

One thing that will be an easy sign to see if Cal is gonna change is if he doesn’t start Oscar and Collins together, if Cal is gonna play modern basketball those 2 dudes cannot play together.

Will we have a strength and conditioning coach next year or can we borrow Stoops’ guys?
