Revisionist history. People always think the past was better. And, most of the time they are wrong.

There was nothing Pitino did at UK that was more fun or better than 2010, 2012, or 2015. 96 was awesome but Cal’s three best years blow away Rick’s three best years.
Only because Pitino left. That’s the only reason he didn’t have a much better run than that. Also, 1996 was the best team we ever had. Yes, better than 2012.

EDIT : Yes, losing to WVU in 2010 was a hell of a lot of fun! Took more than 30 3s with no outside shooters and the best big man in the country. Some coaching that was. 🤔

Pitino is a master motivator and he always gets the best out of his players...he always knew when to press and when to trap halfcourt...He loved to play fast and basically was one of the first coaches to embrace the 3 pt shot.

The Pitino years were my most rewarding following the Cats...they meant more because the players were here 4 yrs and they had heart

Man I miss those days...
Pitino is the GOAT college coach...
Wish we had him back....we would be pressing, trapping, hustling...bombing 3’s

And yet we are grinding, stalling, and have a bunch of nonshooters
And on probation

Why didn't he do that at Louisville? Because teams have found out how to beat that pressing style with good guards and get easy layups.

Cal has had 3 different teams in the NCAA same as Rp both have 1 title. Cal had Memphis to the Final Game, and almost UMass. Cals non-title years trump rp's . If I was picking a new coach 15 years ago, I prolly would have picked RP. Morals and integrity pay off more than just coaching so I am going with JC.

UL did vacate a title but so did cals teams at Memphis and UMASS with final fours. So you cannot pump Cals accolades at other schools then just up and sat RP has 1 title.

Well that’s just dumb. From 2011-2015 we went to 4 straight final fours, won a championship, and almost went undefeated. In 2 of those seasons he had 3 total losses. That might be one of the best stretches in history.
Cal has never been considered a better coach than K. Pitino WAS better than K, when Pitino was at UK.

Cal can’t coach a cohesive offense. Won’t make adjustments either. That applies on offense and defense both. It is what it is.

Sorry but Pitino is the G.O.A.T. and none of your crying will change that .

The Goat would have no problem getting talent no matter if they coached at Morehead. Saying, oh rick didn’t have the talent at UL that Cal had here at UK. Well the falls back on Rick not being the Goat but rather getting bent over by Cal on a yearly basis. 😉

There will never be another 1996 team that was UK's best team ever and who put that team together? We went to 3 straight title games 96,97, and 98 thanks to the rosters that Pitino put together!

If we're doing real comparisons, then Kentucky Rick Pitino far more fun than Kentucky Calipari IMO. Please note that I'm comparing the two coaches while AT KENTUCKY. I shouldn't have to make that disclaimer but some people start foaming at the mouth when Pitino's name is mentioned here.

Pitino's teams were fun to watch....ALL OF THEM. Can that be said about all of the Calipari teams?
Our fans sucked during Pitinos tenure here.

Great coach, no argument at all.

And the hookers in Indy are THRILLED to see Ricky Three Stacks back in the Big Dance too!

truthfully, I’d watch any of Pitino’s 7 out of 8 teams over any of Cal’s 12 teams. The only exception would be the 94 team behind the 10 and 12 teams (yeah, I’d watch the 94 team over the 15 team)

Quite a few people believe this. Cal blows as an actual coach. His talent won out time after time. Cal couldn’t hold Pitinos jock as far as in game coaching and preparation.

Comments like these are just stupid and why nobody should ever take you seriously.

You don’t “blow” as a coach and do the things Cal has done, become a HOF coach, make multiple Final Fours, etc...

It’s just a total lazy and ignorant take.

And yet you and many others have talked about Pitino having the most talent ever on the 96 team. And Pitino doesnt wear a jock, it is not needed.

Anyone that truly believes that Cal is a better in game coach and X and O guy than Pitino honestly need their head examined. How many times have we watched Cal get out coached the last 4 minutes of games? Hell, 10 times this year alone at least.

You didn't read what I posted, I said that Cal has got 3 teams to the NCAA's same as RP, not titles for 3 teams. They both have one title each from the same school. How many titles can you count for Pitino? how many for Cal? 2012 was lost, gone as far as recognitions from the awarding institution. Karen and friends took care of that. and the best/worst is yet to come. RP escapes the penalties and now he's everyone's hero. Sheeesssshhhh
