100% believe Clarke not playing hurt us. I do not think Cal intended to lean on Allen, and wouldn’t have had the issue if Clarke was playing.
As far as playing Allen and Boston together I believe them coming off the same screens and basically being the same made it hard for him to play both and get Askew his minutes as Cal liked Askew/Mintz/Boston.
It really seems like his plan once he see’s one of “his guys” struggle is to play them more to play themselves out of here and into the league. I believe this because there is no other logical way to see it unless you think he wants kids on his roster to fail, like Allen, and I just can’t believe that’s the case.
That said, I witnessed Greg Brown throw a tantrum bad enough even Shaka didn’t play him the last 19 minutes of the 2nd half last night. Add Clarke, Fletcher and the Duke kid and this years FR class altogether was crap and a bunch of entitled babies.
The fans weren’t able to rain down the boos in Rupp, so basically Matt is bringing that pressure, good for him!

If Cal couldn’t figure out a way to play Allen and Boston together, he needs to retire. A middle school coach could do that.

LITERALLY every off season we hear about how long our team is, unselfish, really buying in on defense which is unexpected and how so and so is a real big time shooter. EVERY off season. It’s regurgitated every year and the mopes buy it. That’s not insider reports- it’s an effing form letter.

For as terrible as we were this year, we had some weird *** victories. Blew out Florida and Tennessee on the road and LSU at home. I still chuckle at LSU's game plan against us.

Absolutely disagree. Everyone always says Cal will have this team ready come tournament time, and usually he does. The team came out in the first half and got curb stomped knowing they needed some sense of urgency and needed to win 4 games.
There was some missed player evaluations, there was some lack of basketball IQ, there was a lack of Alpha males, and there was some terrible/questionable coaching and coaching decisions. This team never improved one drop from their first game to their last. Cannot blame that on Covid.
I'm not questioning that we could have darker days without him. But he just threw the fanbase under the bus as one of the many excuses for his failures of leadership.
Well after he took us to the NIT and lost to Robert Morris it took him 2 years to put together<almost>the most epic season in UK history just to have our hearts ripped out.
