Askew and his dad can say what they want. He's being recruited over as we speak. So hope they are prepared for incoming competition.

Every returning player on the team will be ready for incoming competition. Why hate on Askew? He came here because Calipari recruited him and his family to join the UK family. And the kid busted his *** and did the best he could all year. If he was put into a situation that he could not handle, blame Calipari, not Askew.

Why hate on askew? I’m sure he is a great kid but do I need to link you to the statistics and win loss page?

I know he takes a lot of heat, but this is the kind of kid we need to get back.

He was in over his head, as most freshmen nationwide are. He needs to get stronger and quicker. He needs to stop picking the ball up near midcourt. If he's patient with the process, he can become a much better player for us.

What was hateful about that statement? It's reality. As we currently speak, UK is looking for upgrades to the backcourt. If that is too much for Askew or anyone else, then it further symbolizes why this team was not tough enough to win games when they had control to decide the outcome. I mentioned him because this was put out in media and is a topic. I'll address others when they follow with their announcements/proclamations.

You evaluate your team and it didn't take a basketball PHD to see PG play was not to the standard that is acceptable. This is Kentucky. Season like this is unacceptable. Everyone will be put on notice.

Hopefully the game slows down for him next year since he’ll have a years worth of game experience. Big jump from high school to Kentucky PG and tons of pressure that goes along with the position.

Glad he is back.I

This is why it is hard to judge Cal's players due to how he recruits. If you judge his as someone looking to get to the NBA and away from here as fast as he can, than this year was an abject failure. If you judge him as a freshman thrown into a bad situation that is looking to get better and help the team down the road than all of a sudden his year wasn't so bad.

I am well aware of both. Again, it is not Askew's fault. He was RECRUITED by Calipari and the other coaches to come here. He came and played to the best of his abilities in a Covid stricken year that hurt every player. He wants to stay and get better and I welcome that.

Glad he is back. If he works hard on his strength and his skills he can have a good year next year. As for incoming freshmen his year of experience in “the system” should help somewhat. If nothing else, he will be able to speak “cal” a little better.

That’s great but it’s insane that it was even in question or that it deserves its own tweet lol.

He has a LONG way to go and is clearly not ready to lead a team. He needs to learn and blossom behind someone else in attempts to the reigns (maybe) his Jr and Sr year

The fact he even had to announce says it all right there about this program.. As I said in another thread, he played like a true freshman usually does back in the day pre-OAD. Guys like him have to stick around for player retention since the Wall, Fox and Knight caliber guards don't.

Other than transferring? I’m not sure.

Again, glad he is back. He won’t be ready to lead a team next year but hopefully he can continue to get better the next few years here. But it just shows how broken Cals model is that we are relived that a player like askew is “announcing” his return when it should absolutely be a given.

Definitely a good thing! He was thrown to the wolves this year and simply wasn't ready, but it will make him that much better in the future. I don't think anyone would question his heart and toughness and we need continuity in the program. The more guys that return the better.
