I thought it was good. Looked good. Damn. Have no problem with the play. Missing those first half FTs was the difference. It is easy to armchair quarterback this...that was a damn good play. Long jumper, yeah. Wide open, yeah. Best shooter taking it, yeah.
Chances are if Mintz drives something goes haywire, charges, gets blocked or a no call. Allen was wide open.
I also don't get why he played Ware so much. He actually ran through him in the post several times. Like why? We lost by a point and you can point to about 20 times duringvthe game where we can say the coach screwed up.Yeah. I really don’t understand why he played Askew so much in the second half. IMO, Clarke looked much better than he did. Not even close.
. Yes. FT shooting hurt us today.
I agree with this. It’s hard to know, coming out of the huddle, how the seconds will play out.It is easy to armchair quarterback this...that was a damn good play. Long jumper, yeah. Wide open, yeah. Best shooter taking it, yeah.

The new guys misunderstand what going for #9 meant!I just can't grasp 9 total wins for a UK team. Unreal.
Freshmen choke under the bright lights. Today, the freshmen choked and so did Cal.I don't know why people turn this into a freshman thing. It's a talent thing.
Sarr missed a bunch of game winners as well.
Yes. You are spot on. I forgot about the big difference on the boards.Getting outrebounded by 17 killed us too.

Cal is the worst. He made MS look like the best team in the SEC in the first half. This team should have been running screens for Allen all season and yet they didn't. The sad thing is we lost by the one point that we gave to them on back to back lane violations.
Would’ve been a good game for Fletcher to get down low and bang.I also don't get why he played Ware so much. He actually ran through him in the post several times. Like why? We lost by a point and you can point to about 20 times duringvthe game where we can say the coach screwed up.
Another 20 where the players screwed up. 58% at the line? Really? Got seriously outrebounded.
You can't have Askew and Ware in the game at the same time and Askew should never be in a game like this.
He sure is.Go back and rewatch those screens. Sarr is horrible at setting them.
And seriously.. why can we never close out a ****ing game? I can't remember the last time we won a game with the score close in the last minute.. going back to Herro and Seton Hall.. ****ing snakebitten.
. Allen certainly did not choke. He had a helluva game.Allen is a freshman and without him we wouldn't have been within double digits of this team.
Once again this game was lost when Sarr and Jackson went to the bench and played all of 8 mins in that first half.
We got absolutely hammered inside by a team that's not good on offense.
Oscar is going to have to learn to stay out of foul trouble or else we risk having this again next season.
Why would you expect him to be good at it when they haven't practice doing it?Go back and rewatch those screens. Sarr is horrible at setting them.
It is for the best.
Relief.
We had a 5 point lead and for some reason started forcing the ball down low to one of the worst low post scores in basketball. I would have preferred we take jump shots and crash the rim for put backs. And seriously.. why can we never close out a ****ing game? I can't remember the last time we won a game with the score close in the last minute.. going back to Herro and Seton Hall.. ****ing snakebitten.
I didn't say all freshmen choke, but if you want an example of what I'm talking about, look at Askew, Boston and Jackson's stat lines. I mean, Boston and Askew had zero points… .combined. We were out rebounded by 17. Shot 58% from the stripe.Allen is a freshman and without him we wouldn't have been within double digits of this team.
If Oscar couldn't stay on the court in the B12, he won’t stay on the court in the SEC, that's for damn sure.2 things that lead to success next season
1) Askew cannot run the point. Actually Askew cannot start anywhere. Hopefully Mintz returns. But we have to find someone in that postion.
2) Oscar can be helpful especially given the fact we got killed on the boards today. But only if he can stay on the court which is a problem with him and seemingly a problem with our team year in and year out.

Look at all our post season losses in the Cal era. Every one of them are to junior and senior laden teams and every one of them are choke jobs.
News flash. Our bigs will always be in foul trouble playing a switching m2m. AD and KAT are not walking they the door.2 things that lead to success next season

As far as your #1, you have to ask yourself, why did Cal play Askew at primary point all season? I'm worried about my thoughts on that one.
He should’ve rode Clarke, Allen, Mintz, Jackson and Sarr. That should’ve been the five.I didn't say all freshmen choke, but if you want an example of what I'm talking about, look at Askew, Boston and Jackson's stat lines. I can’t understand why he played so much in the second half today! Unbelievable!Yeah I'm concerned about that as well. I'm baffled by a lot of things that happened this season but that's a big one. Why did it take so long to realize we were better without Askew at point.
I like Cal. I really do. But there was some extremely puzzling things that happened this season that leave me wondering.......well just WTF
Yeah, but look at the talent disparity. Did we have more talent than the teams we lost to? According to Cal, talent is what wins. It's just not true.Maybe Askew and Boston just aren't very good players to begin with.
And of course UK losses to senior and junior laden teams..........the majority of the teams that play college basketball are senior/junior laden teams.
I can’t understand why he played so much in the second half today! Unbelievable!
You wanna know what I think?I can’t understand why he played so much in the second half today! Unbelievable!
Ugh I sure hope not! He doesn’t do anything well. All he does is pound the ball in the floor. Then picks his dribble up way too early. You wanna know what I think?
I tbink Cal stayed with Askew, because Askew is going to be our main pg next year.
The only buzz we have heard in the recruiting world is just a bunch of dudes going elsewhere.
Couldn’t agree more.It was just shocking to me.
It seemed like all season long he never had any clue to what our best lineup was. And he never got it correct. There's been so many puzzling lineup decisions.
And his automatic 2 foul u sit rule was just crazy in this game that you had to win.
I think that's what bugs me the most.
Listen we aren't good. We probably weren't winning 4 in 4 days. But you go down with your best players. We didn't do that in the first half of this game. And despite an amazing comeback, the hole was too big.
In Cal's defense, he had to sit Jackson in the 1st half. Ado knew Jackson had 2 fouls and could only stand there. He was scoring at will.It was just shocking to me.

Askew isn't even a guy that Morehead state would startUgh I sure hope not! He doesn’t do anything well. All he does is pound the ball in the floor. Then picks his dribble up way too early.
