Bad coach has the 3rd highest winning percentage in college basketball history. Imagine that.

Bobby Knight was once great too. How do you not get it?

That is largely based off his first several seasons. If we have another 6 years like the previous 6 years will you still be yelling “winning percentages!” From the rooftop?

We get it- John Calipari was great from 2009-2015. But that’s when he was getting transcendent talent/ the best college basketball player of all time (AD) AND keeping very very solid veterans (Miller, WCS, Lamb, Jones, Poy etc etc). He is no longer getting the elite superstars ( this is a fact) and he is no longer having solid veterans stick around. Which is why there’s a STARK difference from 2009-2015 and the last 6 seasons.

How do you know get that? Denny Crum also was amazing but guess what? He started not being amazing.

You simply latch onto his 2009-2015 success and let it cloud your judgment. It’s silly.

You do realize there is life after Calipari right lol? Why are you so enamored and obsessed with him? As if there is no single other coach out there that can’t replicate the last 6 years? Tons can.

Times are different- all the elite superstars don’t need to go to UK anymore. Before UK and sorts kinda KU was recruiting the superstar O&D. Now like 100 schools recruit them and they spread out all over the place along with going to the g league.

He isn’t landing the superstar talent like he was. He needs the elite talent AND solid veterans to make title runs. It’s not happening anymore. He is not a good bench coach. He can’t rely on his teams simply out athlete-ing and out talenting the other teams anymore.

Let me ask you this. Next year will he pretty bad too. Maybe not 8-15 bad but we will not be a top 20 team by this time next year- if the next 5 seasons are similar to these past 5 you will really still say we can’t get any other coach ? Really?

It’s weird how obsessed and out of touch you are about this man because you seem halfway intelligent at least.

It was hard to do, but I watched the game again this morning. A lot of things stood out, but the biggest was effort. That was not the only thing, but it was the biggest. We were out rebounded 38 to 23, by players who were shorter then us. White is 6'8" and he had 10 rebounds, Buffen is 6'7" and he had 10 rebounds, Rodriguez is 6'6" and he had 8 rebounds. Those three players out rebounded our team by 5 rebounds. Sarr, a 7 footer, had 3 rebounds, YES, a measly 3 rebounds.

Old Miss had twice as many TO's as UK, 14 to 7, and we had one more Assist then Ole Miss. I thought I heard the announcers say Ole Miss was not a good three point shooting team. If you don't guard a player, most of them can hit a three. We make good three point shooters, out of bad three point shooting teams.

Askew had 0 Assists, and 0 points. I will never understand why Cal doesn't move Mintz to Point Guard. The other thing I don't understand, is, when you need points, why do you have Allen on the bench. I wonder if Cal ever heard of running a player off more then one screen, to get him open. We needed points in the last 10 minutes. The game was there for taking, but we still had Boston shooting, but not hitting. Cal has a player who should be a Senior in High School, trying to run a Division One team. Is he out of his mind? I can answer that, YES!

Some poster who love Cal more then UK, will post about how we have lost close games, and with a little luck, we would have won. As I've said before, Losers always have excuses. Well, this was an excellent example of being out coached. We were in the game until the last 4 minutes, then coaching took over. Cal looked like a "Deer in the head lights," and all he could do, was jump up and down, and scream like a monkey. If watching him try to coach, and still think he is a good coach, then you don't know basketball. He won the first 6 years with the BEST players in college, and even then he got out coached. An example is the first year against West Virginia. He is still getting more talent then most teams, but his lack of coaching ability has caught up with him the last 5 or 6 years. We had more talent then Old Miss, but they had better coaching and more heart.

I don't dislike Cal. I have NO feeling for him, either way. I'm just willing to face the fact, that he is not a good coach. He's done a great job selling himself, to a lot of fans, the AD, and a lot of good players. The last 6 years, should have told a lot, but to a lot of fans, they can't stand the truth, which is their choice. They will criticize a lot of us, because we love UK, not Cal, and we don't drink the Kool Aid.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
The truth is the facts. Not your opinion or mine. That is what YOU can't stand.
In 2016 we were the best team in our conference and one big man bust away from being the best in the country.
2017 . We were a top 4-5 team all year. I'm not talking measly top 25 rankings. To anyone that knows basketball, we were there.
2018. Young, inexperienced Diallo was another bust for a freshman.
2019. Team came together after bad loss to duke and were top 4-5 in the nation after conf play started.
2020. Another solid team that was gonna have a 2/3 seed depending on the sec.

Sure we didn't have final 4 in Those years but 2 seasons missing it by 1 point is pretty stellar.

Thankfully 95% or more of this board is rational and realize John Calipari’s model is broken. This applies for 90% of the fan base outside this board too.

That being said the handful of Cal defense squad fellas on here will still be singing his praises this time next year when we are 16-14. Then another mass exodus. When the next 5 years are similar or possibly a bit worse than the last 5 years they will still be signing his praises. It’s insane lol.

They are simply John Calipari fans. I’m sure they “like” Kentucky but they like Kentucky the way they do BECAUSE of John Calipari. They don’t love Kentucky basketball because it’s Kentucky.

The John Calipari 1st fans are very easy to spot these days. To each their own.

Obsessed and out of touch? Just because I think Cal can fix this doesn't mean I am obsessed and out of touch.

It is out of touch to think Cal is going anywhere unless he wants to for one thing. Obsessed...there are plenty on this board far more obsessed about all of this more than me.

I've stated a ton of times if Cal doesn't change and sh*t hits the fan next year I am done supporting him.

I am giving him the benefit of the doubt this year. Thought you knew that...

How many years does Cal’s first five years buy him? How many years do the fans have to endure his condescension? How many years do we have to endure losing to the Evansville, Richmond, Utah, GA techs of the world? How many more years of missing the tourney is Cal allowed?

I do t doubt you are a UK fan, but when you say things like”what other coach can we get that has had the success that cal has had”, you come-across as Cal is the best we can get. I disagree with that. What was Cal’s success before coming here higher than other coaches currently out there?

I don’t know if you fear the unknown without Cal, or are just a huge Cal fan. We have had five different coaches win a title at UK. Cal did not make UK. UK made Cal.

Cal has been successful outside of his first five years here...results in EE games just flipped. '11 and '14 won close games, '17 and '19 lost close games.

Cal needs to makes some adjustments. I would hedge my bets that he will and we will be back in one of those games sooner than later.

It is all a moot point because the guy isn't leaving unless he wants to. No one is firing him. I just hope he makes the adjustments he needs to for us to be where we have been before.

You all are looking way to deeply into this. I am not sure why the Cal fan vs UK fan is even a thing. I am a UK fan. I am a Cal fan. I was a Pitino fan...I didn't become a Louisville fan when he went there. I don't understand that whole thing....bizarre to me.

I cannot fathom that there are a bunch of Cal Only Fans running around BBN? Do you realize how crazy that sounds?

I remember the Tubby wars on here the last few years he was here. There were posters then defending him to the very day, he snuck out of town, same for BCG, altho he was not here long enough to get a following. I see the same thing now with Cal. I suspect the Cal followers will defend him till the day he leaves town as well. Some seem to support a coach no matter how bad our program is doing. So you tell me, are they UK fans first, or Cal fans first?

I turned to my best friend after UAB loss and said "Tubby's done."

I told my same best friend I never wanted BCG when there was quick talk of him being the guy.

I am giving Cal next year to turn it around.

I won’t even try to determine your fan hood. That’s for you to decide. I just have a hard time understanding why some posters on here defend him on everything, even to the point they will trash our players for something Cal failed at.

One reason is because you and others bash just him for everything. If you take 1 side 100% of the time and just blatantly make things up, why can't I point it out to you that you're wrong. Nobody takes up for his every move but it's annoying that you can't see this team has been shafted on covid, no pg, injuries. It's not all on one man

Us UK fans were here before Cal and we will be here after Cal.
If we go say 17-14 in regular season next year Cal will be gone. He won't be fired but the pressure will be too much for him to stay. He will step down.
We will not have a losing season next year Because Cal will load schedule with 8 or 9 teams ranked 250 or below.
But if we don't get a good PG 17-14 type record is a real possibility.

Old man who constantly complains, what about the last six years is so horrible?
Is it the 2 seed that the 2017/2019 teams earned or the 2 seed that last year's 6th ranked Cats would have received? Or is it the 4 seeds that our two "down" years in 2016 and 2018 earned?

You have mentioned more times than you have told us you used to fly planes about Calipari not knowing how to run a player off more than 1 screen. Get a clue, the guy has a $9 million a year salary for a reason. I guess you must have been looking for Stoll Field during all the Lamb, Dotson, Harrison, Booker, Murray, Herro, Quickley games. Your guy Allen is not anywhere close to the player those guys were. It does not take a rocket scientist to see that Allen is the easiest player in the league to guard and shut down.

Why don't you go cheer for another team until we get a new coach. Your constant complaining is getting old.

You know where you can put your excuses and silly post. You have told everyone about all our great seedings, now tell us about all our great Final Fours and National Championships with those great seedings. Yes, I flew airplanes for the USAF, and I'm damn glad I served my country. What the Hell have you ever done for the USA, except praise a coach who took a knee for our National Anthem. We will never know if Allen is the easiest player to guard, since Cal doesn't really give him a chance. Two minutes, one shot, and then said he should have shot more. I wonder what game Cal watched. He must have been on his knees.

WillieVic the most classless guy on this board. If you don't agree with him you are a loser or an idiot. Last time he was making fun of someone being "light in the loafers." He just exudes CLASS!!

Because I don't care for Cal's recruiting , basically "One and done," and posters making it personal, then I will respond. I have asked you to quit responding to my post. I WILL NOT respond to your post, if you don't respond to mine. That should be fair. I'm not interested in arguing with you. You are entitled to your opinion, and I should be entitled to mine, without your criticism. That should be fair to both of us, since we don't agree, and probably never will.
