Beilein would be 70 years old.. he also basically got fired for losing the locker room over racist remarks.

Now, if you think he's racist or not.. doesn't matter.. he lost the locker room. He's not going to be a guy that top HS players (and their families) want to play for.

Hard, hard pass. HC or Assistant (which I really doubt he'd ever do, wasn't he at odds with Cal anyways?)

Couldn’t hurt but I doubt Beilein would be interested. Most guys at a high level, D1, are going to have to know they can’t land a head coaching job before going that route.

I pass on him because I just don't think he's an answer. It has nothing to do with "thugs" vs "slugs" which to me is completely overblown. Show me one person who has never had a slip of the tongue. There was no history of anything before his mistake. His players hadn't even noticed it..

Pretty sure they did notice, though. Personally, I dont think its a big deal. Whites can be thugs. But unfortunately you need to be behind your players.. and a 70 year being out of touch (and possibly nearing dementia for letting something like that slip) is, as you said, not the answer.

While I would disagree with Beilen I hope someone either forces Cal to go scorched earth on his assistants or he finally just does it himself. Go find the best recruiting assistant coach in the country, the best x and o guy, open up the wallet, back up a truck of cash to get them in here. Whatever it takes.

One thing that would go a long way in helping to repair Cal’s relationship with the fans would be to hire Derek Anderson as an some kind of assistant. Guy is begging for a a job. He’s a UK legend.

I doubt very seriously that you have ever known anyone with dementia if you think that's a sign of it.

He might love UK, but anybody that begs for a job in public with a name associated(even if he was innocent) with cocaine is never going to be employed by the UK athletic dept.

Unfortunately true. Even if he’s cleaned himself up and working with others in substance abuse. Just a tough shot trying to get any public, heavily scrutinized job.

Just focusing on the basketball aspect, Beilein has never been an Assistant Coach in his life. He's always been a HC and knowing a former person who worked for him at WVU, he's a control freak so he'd not make a good assistant. Has to control every aspect of practices and games. Even got the point on their run in '13 where he couldn't take the fact his best recruiting assistant Bacari Alexander was being shown by CBS giving pregame speeches so before NC game Beilein gives the speech and is mugging for camera.

Cal needs to hire a coach that knows how to teach and coach basketball. That way we’d have at least one on the staff.

They should hire Phil Jackson.
I’m sure you won’t believe me but years ago I was up late watching TV , I think it was Letterman ,but Phil Jackson was the guest . The host asked him if he had ever thought about coaching college basketball and Jackson said “ yes” . Then the host asked him where he could see himself coaching and Jackson said “ Kentucky “ . I was proud.

BTW.. is there a better Michigan coach out there we should be looking at?

I'll take Juwan Howard over Beilein all day. Did you see his players react to beating MSU?

Cal doesn’t want differing input. He knows the most .

What racists remarks did he make? If you are talking about "thugs and slugs" remark there nothing racist about that.

What did I say right after.. it doesn't matter if they were racist or not, or if he's racist or not. It doesn't matter what we think. Its what the players think, and it was a bad look. Its also not the only time he was at odds with the players.

.. and the part where he meant to say slugs? Lmfao, come on. Own what you said. Id rather him have try and explain himself than be like "thugs? No what I said was .. was.. 'coffee mugs'.. They're playing like coffee mugs guys"

totally agree, there has got to be a change. not sure cal has the guts to make any changes like stoops did.

been wanting to add Anderson to the staff for several years. he always played hard & could teach that passion to these spoiled kids

Rex got a job after he snorted pills and shoplifted. Oh that’s right, Rex is white. His white privilege got him that job. At least in his mind I’m sure that’s what he’s thinking.

Why can’t we make him an offensive analyst like Saban does in football?

Because he wouldn't want to do that. A guy who is 70 years old and never had an assistant coaching job is all of the sudden going to want to go do that with Cal at Kentucky? Ego is bigger than you think on both ends.
