Fans have reached the point they will put down a UK legend to prop up Cal. Wow.I thought we were supposed to be about championships? People on here ***** about Cal only having 1 championship but that's 1 more than Dan Issel won here.

Your takes get dumber everytime you post one. What has he done to help UK succeed in basketball since playing here 50 years ago?
I would take him on this current team. He had heart and grit. What was wrong with Briscoe exactly? He was a solid player. Couldn't shoot a lick but had a solid game...very much old school.
He did well till other coaches figured out to play off him and take away his driving. He was basically useless after that. Could not shoot terrible free throw shooter. Played hard. Stepped out of bounds a lot. Traveled al lot. But yea. He was amazing. Another bad evaluation from Cal.
I would disagree with that. Hawkins was much more athletic than Briscoe. A better shooter also. Briscoe was heart and grit, not as much ability imo.Amazing he made the NBA since he was so bad. That isn't the player I remember at all. I remember a guy that averaged like 12/6/4, hustled his *** off and had a few weaknesses like most, but was a solid contributor. Love Dom but Briscoe was much better all around.
Took 7 years before you could finally throw that quote in his face huh? Lmaoooo

He was fearless and I liked that about him. briscoe was supposed to be a PG but that never really panned out. He was a tweener that lacked the height to play down low and the speed to play out front. I would take both of them on this team.
Briscoe did put in some buckets that were a high degree of difficulty. Briscoe was definitely crafty around the basket. Played like 6-8 power forward who could handle the ball.I would take them both too, loved Dom's fight and he was uber athletic. He got his minutes though. Played 20mpg as a senior. Briscoe was a solid rebounder and crafty passer, also had a knack for finishing around the basket in rather odd ways if you remember.
Not bashing Dom but imo the stats don't lie. Briscoe was a 50 % shooter inside the arc because he knew how to get to the rim and had a high bball IQ.
They'd both be fantastic for this team no doubt.
Exactly. Cal's biggest blunder is losing players to transfer and the draft before they are ready. Just imagine if this year's team had just two of: Hagans, Montgomery, Baker, Juzang, or Whitney.Ask Dontaie Allen, Jemarl Baker, Johnny Juzang, Dominique Hawkins if it's about all the kids or just certain ones.

Considering we have a losing record against ranked teams since 2015 , I could have said it much earlier ,but with what he did his first 5 years I was patient. Didn’t like it when he said it though.Took 7 years before you could finally throw that quote in his face huh? Lmaoooo

Briscoe was fine as a bench player. He was very limited offensively and had a low basketball IQ. More relevant though was that Dom Hawkins was just better, as evidenced by the SEC and NCAA tourney run. Imagine how much better Dom and the team could have been if he had actually been given serious run with the team for 2 years instead of mop minutes till the last 6 weeks of his senior season. Cal completely screwed Hawkins. Kid had a chance to be a legend here like Epps or Darius but Cal had to play his 5*. Dom was probably the 4th best player on that team by the end of his senior year without getting the benefit of serious playing time and a chance to build serious chemistry.
Briscoe did not have a high basketball IQ. That’s up there with the guy saying James Young was a good passer.
Not sure but I thought Dan only played 3 years. (No freshman year)DI stayed 4 years at UK and still became an ABA/NBA star. Go fogure.
Like I said, a person who says Briscoe had a high basketball IQ is just stupid. And I can’t argue with stupid. He played 20 mpg. He averaged 4.7ppg and shot 40% from the field. He wasn't the fourth best player on the team. You can spill your beans all day and you are never going to be correct about this. The only thing Dom did better than Briscoe is shoot...and btw Dom made 5 more three's than Briscoe on 5 more attempts. Briscoe was a better all around player.
