I don't know why some of you are so concerned about Kansas passing us.

The all-time wins lead doesn't matter.

Sure, we've had it for over 20 years; sure it's one of the most important records in college basketball; sure it's a huge hallmark of achievement, prestige, and basketball glory. Sure it's blah blah blah....

But do we really care about all that? Do we really follow this program because of winning, and tradition, and decades of excellence?

We play the games to have fun, and develop strong sportsmanship. Our guys play the games to represent the program with class and dignity. Calipari has made sure that happens, and I'm not sure why so many of you get hung up on win-win-win when there are more important things in life like integrity and class.

Sure, Kansas is going to pass us soon, but it doesn't matter. They'll be #1 in wins, but it will be with an asterisk that only UK fans will really know about regarding their actual cheating. So phooey on all this talk about Final Fours and NCAA tourney wins and all-time wins. We're Kentucky. We're better than that. We hang spirit banners for ethics, comradery, and the sheer love of the game. We hang banners on the walls of our internal character, and it is in this unseen place, totally overlooked by record keepers and all-time lists, that we truly excel.

Even if the rest of the world pays no attention to our spirit banners of character, we will know the truth, and that is enough.
I care.

you should have fed him some more rope , instead of holding his hand ... lol.
Totally my bad, went right over my head. However, I'm not sorry for my statement and Id think you would understand. The ppl on this board are totally crazy, you never know what someone might say and actually believe.

I care! i will hate if/when it happens but it really isn’t that big a deal. Same as the 3 pointer streak. Hated when it ended but life went on. No one cares anymore.

Weren't the Suttons at UK? Everybody cheats but only UK almost gets the death penalty.

It's 6 but will be less by the end of this year, since Kansas is busy preparing for their high seed in the NCAA tournament & our guys are busy making Draft Green Room arrangements
thanks for the info. and yeah...pretty much.

Damn Basketball Bennies worried about some all time wins record. Don't you people know that Cal is trying to end generational poverty?
I mean after all these kids have signed professional contracts that total billions by now.
WIns,Wins? THIS IS HARD. WE ARE YOUNG. THESE KIDS ARE NOT ROBOTS. KENTUCKY ISN'T FOR EVERYONE.
Enough talk I have a practice to run here.
GOOO make a play Devin. RUNNNN

It will be a story when Kansas passes Kentucky ... for about 48 hours.

But I have never heard anyone other than a UK fan talk about the all-time wins total, lead, race, etc. except during the UK2K milestone moment (which was awesome).
Let's just keep doing away with UK's milestones and traditions. UK now only has Senior day for walk-ons and grad transfers. UK no longer goes to the Maui Invitational because Cal doesn't want to because his teams are "young". Very few home and home series anymore because Cal wants to play those games on heutral sites. Cal doesn't care about the SECT.
Seems a lot of things that makes UK be UK and THE desirable job in college basketball has been done away with because of Cal.

Trivia: Do you know who has the all-time wins in college football?

Alabama was my first guess. I see it was Michigan. Although Michigan could relinquish their title in football if they don't pick it up soon.

As for me, national titles and final fours are the standard. However, the all-time wins total does mean something. It shows a program that's been consistently great and prides itself on being the gold standard of the sport.

You started off perfectly with the title, but then you kept typing.

Do you guys walk around bragging about UK wins from generations of yore? And how does that stat make games more enjoyable to watch?

It seems like some of you have your identity too wrapped up in records that you had nothing to do with. It's not like if UK is #2 then people are going to start saying UK doesn't have a great tradition.

And you think #2 doesn't have those same claims?

They show the all-time wins graphic every time UK-KU-UNC plays. It matters...but we haven't lost it yet... nor am I so sure we will anytime soon. KUs cupboard is equally as bare and with lesser prospects.
I don't want to see them get it, because it just adds to their resume (Naismith, Allen, Rupp, Smith, etc). It's never been just about titles (I realize I am a minority here, but not publicly [I also respect the hell out of Cal, btw])... they're almost too random. I would much rather field a super-competitive team, be in the thick of it each year, and retain some upperclassmen. If I am jealous of anything about KU (or UNC)... it's their senior nights... Garrett, Azubuike, Graham, Mykhailiuk, Mason, Ellis, etc.... and their privilege as fans to get to know those kids and watch them progress over years instead of a single winter.

Of course it matters. It stands for success, consistency, and longevity. Still, in my mind, it doesn't mean anything until Kansas has an 18 game lead because they started +17 before Kentucky started their program.

unc and ku both were on pace before cal arrived. so what’s your point?

they’ve also each passed uk before. that’s all on cal? that’s rich.
