If I had told you in October of 2015 that your coach would be one game under .500 against ranked teams the next six seasons, what would you have said?

Cut to 5:37. Kyle Tucker cues up a question about whether it is at the point that Calipari needs to start building his core of players for next year. Calipari's exact response is this:

I'm worried about the next game, Kyle. I'm not worried about postseason, conference tournament. Look, we're not that far off. We just played three ranked teams and we had a chance to beat them all.

We break down at critical times. Do I have the wrong guys in? I made some changes and the guys that went in didn't make any shots, turned it over. I mean we are trying everything we can but I'm not thinking about next year. I owe it to these kids in this program to do every I can to get this thing flipped around. That's all I'm doing. We'll watch the tape. I'll go back. I'm trying to be light and positive even though it has been 35 years since I've had to deal with something like this.

Glad Calipari had Kyle Tucker serve up the question of whether Calipari worries about building a roster for next year for the betterment of the UK program and his canned, practiced answer remains "I'm focused on these kids not this program!"

That was a perfectly fine and normal response.

Agreed and Calipari uses Kyle Tucker as his mouthpiece so there is also a significant chance that it could have been a staged question meant to get Calipari's message out.

That answer is just blah blah blah coachspeak and it is also different than the answer Calipari gave on the coach's show that actually seemed unrehearsed and introspective, which was a breath of fresh air.

I was listening to the postgame press conference this morning and heard that question coming from Kyle Tucker and thought that maybe Calipari was strategically going to start changing the rhetoric and talking about building for next year or discuss changes or something new because that's the sort of way Calipari would change his rhetoric. But nope.

Dr.SicilianoCalipari might describe the current issues of this program as "systemic".

All kidding aside, that is startling and very concerning.

It’s why I “quit” after 2015, and so did Cal. He was losing so bad he had to coin that bs “it’s not about wins/losses, it’s about DREAMS” crap.

It’s been a slow burning disaster up to this point. Even so, our fans and program have been beyond supportive of this loser and his embarrassing tournament losses. Taken all the condescending bs from him, his family (minus Ellen), Matt and Kyle. It’s our turn now. Basketball Benny deserves some gd respect.

It’s been fascinating to watch the evolution of SAE’s, Mashburned’s, and to a lesser extent, *Chumps’ schtick* slowly develop into realistic voices. What Mashburned just said about respecting Basketball Benny has strong merit.

Chumps’ point about the entire program’s history needing to be acknowledged more than just the Cal era was a huge eye opener for me. He’s exactly right.

SAE’s face turn in support of Billy Joe Wildcat and the dangers of fan apathy have roots that pre-date 2015.Turns out, he was right all along.

Paraphrasing the words of Waylon, “what started out to be a joke, (Cal) don’t understand.”

* I think don’t think Chumps is playing a gimmick. I think that’s his real persona, not that there’s anything wrong with that.*

I don’t know, Cal’s had a couple really good or even great teams since 2015. And last year’s team (thanks to Quickley) could have made a run.

We’ve lost basically everybody twice. This year and the year after Davis’s team won. Wile 2013 was bad, it’s not close to this **** show.

So I’m not going to bash Cal for what he’s done over the last 5 years, but I do say that this year is so bad that it overshadows Cal’s recent career. And given that the game seems to have passed Cal by and he has no inclination to change unfortunately means that I want him out.

Cal is like a 70s/80s pot dealer who normally sells the best bud.

He got a bad batch-too many seeds and too harsh.

Instead of having a double album sleeve to seed this ****, he never figured he needed a double album. Instead of having some good bud around to mix with his bad batch of harsh brown pot, he never thought of it.

A bad batch which we are having to smoke which is too seedy, too harsh and not as good of a buz.

He better do better or he will lose his business and everyone will drive further up the holler to get their weed.

This one boiled my blood. The Calipari denial syndrome is genetic. In addition to the myriad tweets from people saying yeah, this didn't happen, it's also ultra likely the players weren't getting booed.

Would I feel pretty awful if it were my dad getting booed? Absolutely. But I sure as hell wouldn't blame the fans for his crap performance and relentless double downs.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I don't think Cal is going to simply ignore what has happened this year, shrug his shoulders and move on as if nothing needs to be addressed. He is a stubborn SOB, but I also think he will be ashamed for allowing this to happen at UK when he's been so outwardly boasting about how "UK eats first" in the past.

The real question is what will he attempt to change and will he be capable of successfully doing so?

He might want elite shooters, but can he land them? If he lands them, can he actually alter his style to cater to offense rather than defense?

What I fear is going to happen is that he will make changes in staff, recruiting strategy and attempted style of play, but Cal will continue to fight it and revert. It will be like Stoops attempting to run the Air Raid. He just can't stomach it.

The Calipari lassies are just a wee bit better than all of us uneducated dolts. We should have been flattered that DOCTOR Erin was even in our trashy commonwealth, let alone our basketball cathedral.

We should bow, throw rose petals at her feet, hold hands and dance in a circle during her next public visit. She just needs to provide us peasants with an announcement of her arrival beforehand. We will be on our best behavior next time, your highness.

The issue is Cal knows his way and eventually these kids will mold into making it work or next years kids will.

I don’t disagree that these kids have their challenges, but against Bama and now Tennessee they played 30 damn good minutes of basketball so it isn’t just the players.

He doesn’t switch things up when we hit a drought on offense, and he certainly doesn’t switch it up when the opponent goes on runs.

In the final 12 minutes of that game we got beat 34-13 after comfortably maintaining an 8-10 point lead rather easy.

Leaving Allen out of this, our guards no longer got to the lane at all, and Brooks stopped posting to where he could go left into the lane which he was crushing. Instead he began posting the other side and went cold, and other than Boston hitting an elbow jumper I’m not even sure Askew or Mintz scored in the final 12.

Also, I absolutely give credit last year to Quickley, but Nick Richards man, that guy to me because of Cal’s system was the reason for the run we went on in the SEC, and I wish he had come back because this team needs him in every way!

If Cal insists on playing 10 guys we should just go crappy 2015 platoon. At least a group would develop some chemistry together.

I’m worse than ever this year about passively watching while I send out frustrated texts or read this message board. I swear every time I look up from my phone I’m like “wait, when did he come in?”

Of all this things that have annoyed me this year the sub patterns are at the top of the list.

The Liam Coen pick is looking better by the day. Nearly every assistant/position coach/locker room mop guy that works for McVay has been hired this offseason (at least it seems that way).

Wish Cal would have offered Ulis little brother who's getting a few mins per game for Iowa. Gonna be solid 4 year PG

Also we need the equivalent of Tennessee's post game show because that's how it's supposed to be. Just pure anger and raw emotion after we embarrassed them in Neyland. Instead we have Matt blaming the fans and talking about next year. It's boring propaganda
