This team just wilts in second half

The last 3 losses are a product of wilting late both physically and mentally

Horrible turnovers that lead to run out layups and putting the opposition on the foul line by allowing unobstructed drives to basket over and over

Opponents FT second half last 3 games

Last night TN 11-12
Against Missouri 17-22
Against Alabama 20-22

Outscored 48-14 from FT line in second half of these 3 games

When you allow straight line drives to the front of the rim time and time again you are physically and mentally weak and the Coach makes NO ADJUSTMENTS

They are simply not being coached. This is the exact same team, that it was in December. They meltdown because these kids don't know what to do, esp. late in the game when they are tired. Cal needs to return his salary, because he is obviously not doing his job, or incapable without assistants like Payne there. Looks like theft to me. Sorry, I've tried to take up for cal, but there is no way to sugar coat what I'm watching. These young men aren't the problem.

Clueless how to coach in game, make adjustments or relate to players (Payne gone) - if he doesn't have an all-star cast, he's having his extra large *** handed to him regularly - Barbee is a worthless butt plug.

How many people can perform to their highest level in any job with someone in charge continually screaming and yelling and directing every move by most everyone around?

Team scored 42 in first half---29 in the 2nd. Right in front of the screeching and noise and over reacting.

Who can perform at a high level with such idiocy going on? Until this season, crowd noise helped reduce the impact of the idiocy from the bench--now it is magnified due to the quiet of the arenas.

Coach um at practice--teach um--take um out if they fail during the game--but stop the idiotic continuous screaming. And the 2 facemask scene looks stupid and a sham--since it is pulled down when screeching and slobbering all over a player when "teaching".

Great post. Why does Cal feel the need to scream at them all game? Is it because he thinks they’re not smart enough to run set offensive plays or is it because his practices did not really teach then anything besides “GGGGGGGOOOOOO! SSSSHHHHOOOT IT!, RRRRUUUUNNNN!”

This team has little fight in them at crunch time and teams just bully their way to basket for easy shot and FT

Bottom line team is soft as charmin and offers little resistance, and they mentally crack every game

No alpha dogs. Hopefully one of the players has that attitude come next season. Although it’s something that I believe you are born with, your either a leader or a follower.

Just “beat your man off the dribble” offense will not work for 40 minutes especially when almost no one can do it.

Sad but true, Cal has not seemed to make one adjustment to his scheme, he is still trying to fit these players into a scheme that only works with a superstar type P.G. I do not understand why he will not adjust his crappy system to help these players succeed. He is either the most stubborn coach ever or so arrogant he is becoming stupid.

True but it also made a big difference that the real Tennessee team played the second half as several of their key players sat most of the first half because of foul trouble.

True, but Common Sense is not allowed on here.

Not so much the 2nd half as the last 5 minutes of 2nd halves.

Frustrating as heck.

Herro, don't you think that going to a zone defense would have prevented the drives down the lane? I couldn't understand why Cal didn't call a TO and go to a ZONE DEFENSE. That would have stopped the drives, and made them beat us from outside. Our players are to slow to stop their guards from driving, especially No 11, Jaden. Their guards are Freshmen, but their very good.

In the past 5 seasons, the Vols have a 7-4 record against UK. I am looking forward to the Cats playing in Knoxville later this month.

Only if the players have been taught and we have the right personnel in the game. Jackson would seem ideal guarding the basket in this defense. Brooks to help with rebounding. No place for Saar in this defense.

UT played small ball the last 10 minutes. Brooks was the one trying to guard Johnson and he couldn’t keep up with him. Once again the long tall athletes can’t defend the shorter quicker types.

The flaw in Cal’s recruiting on miserable display.

One time in second half, Boston was backed down 20 feet from wing until he was under basket, guy lays it in, Mintz and Askew too short and not physical or quick to handle Springer or Johnson, other are just too slow (Allen, Brooks, Toppin, etc.). There is not one physically strong/quick player on this roster that can guard 1-3, none.

Shackleford and Jones from Bama, Pinson from Missouri and Springer and Jones from TN, literally could dribble from 25 feet out and get anything they wanted.

Zone you say? the man on the bench, doesn't want to play zone, even to his teams demise.
