- Man, I picked a **** year to do Dryuary. Successfully completed it - and I did need it, given the way I sort of abused myself I guess to deal with 2020. But Jesus - what a **** month that was to be sober. I mean, I don’t need to recount it here - just a straight turd sandwich without the decency of any Mayo or other basic condiments. Booze is really underrated. Mental and emotional clarity be damned.

- Went to a local chili parlor (that’s for you, SAE) today to grab a couple coneys for lunch. There was some totally unhinged, giant of a man, derelict ******* standing in the cashier’s area screaming about masks being the work of satan. To the credit of the minimum wage folks working there, they had the wherewithal to just ignore him, and he eventually went away. He did steal a big handful of Andes mints on his way out, tho.

- Basketball. Ha.

- Overheard two young female employees talking about their waxing regimens at the office coffee pot a while ago - maybe mid January. Felt somewhat voyeuristic, but did mentally make a note of it. It’s the little things, folks.

- As a noted HR compliance attorney, I’ve been hired by several large companies to advise on when their “essential” employees can get sticked. Which is great work - I basically read the newspaper and bill for it. Sometimes make a couple phone calls to bureaucrats at the local level. Health department ********, etc.

- But the upshot is this - us normal folks in Phase 1C are going to be late March, April, at the earliest. Yeah there are ways to possibly get one earlier, as several esteemed posters have done, but it’s random and statistically improbable. Things like the Baptist f**k up where doses suddenly materialize for large swaths of the youngish population won’t be happening again. Govern me daddy has made sure of that.

- Speaking of which, at a cousin’s baby’s birthday party last weekend (superspreader event), I overheard a couple common day laborers sticking their chests out and boasting about how they are “essential.” The other guy who worked at a vapeshop was not essential, and he was shunned accordingly.

took my old man to Ft. Campbell today to get his medicine. Stopped by Ferrell’s @ Cadiz to get lunch and let me tell you they are 100% TZFG. - The SAE’s at W&L were all cocksmokers, albeit rich and well positioned ones. I have no sense of the fraternity scene at UK, but always sad to see one of the venerable old lines fall on hard times.

- Just watched The Memphis Belle with my 8 year old. That is a GOAT war movie. He is eaten up with war history. We spend so much time reading and watching history stuff. He’s watched the whole series of Band of Brothers and The Pacific with me. My wife is none too pleased, but he loves it. He wants to go to West Point. Hope it works out.

- As much as I’ve watched Peppa Pig through the years, you’d think I’d soften up by now, but nope. The way they portray Daddy Pig is Exhibit A for the animus and discriminatory treatment leveled at fathers in modern society. White well-off dads can’t catch a break.

- Pizza heads - what is the consensus on Marco’s? We switched recently from LaRosas as our house pizza, and it’s been a revelation. But I’d like to know what the consigliere think before I form an opinion. They have such dope coupons, too.

- Picked up six packs of Bell’s Hop Slam and Sierra Nevada Bigfoot today. Both are long time late-winter early harbingers of spring for me. Such a good feeling. Ash Wednesday is less than two weeks, folks. Almost time to get your fish sambo, Miller Lite and church gambol fix on! If govern me daddy allows it, I guess.

- Latest intel from people who would know is that Phase 1C is “at least” 30 days away. So don’t get your hopes up too soon, essential asshoes.

Speaking of pizza, had lunch at Cafe Lou Lou today. Really wanted to order a pizza but they do Chicago deep dish style. I’ve had it once and hated that style as it is 100% about the sauce.

Anyone have experience with their pizza? I chose some Cajun oyster dish that was really good, and dipping each bite into the Cajun cheese app was ::fire::

My kids are on a huge Peppa Pig kick, in about 15 mins they’ll be in my bed watching it with me (I’m currently downstairs drinking this nespresso I got for Xmas in my moment of solitude and zen). I didn’t really get Wynns reference about the dad (though I still laughed) as all the characters seem like fat sloppy British morons. I will say that I see my children slowly developing ADD watching the nonsensical 5 min episodes. I put on an old Sesame Street episode with Count Dracula yesterday for them (brought to you IN THE PBS KIDS BY AMAZON PRIME APP) and they both lost focus by the time he got to 3.

My wife keeps showing me dumbass tik tok videos that she swears are hilarious and are just lispy people saying obvious **** loudly as the punchline. I've taken to showing her objectively hilarious videos from lookatthisrussian in response.

It's like showing a dog a card trick.

So we've got a real Cold War going in this household. But nothing on tik tok will ever be funnier than this and this isn't even in the top 25% of crazy Russian videos so it is a game of attrition.

Visited W&L and it seemed pretty cool until I realized it is located next to VMI out in the middle of the boonies. VMI is either all male or close enough.

As a man with no interest in fingertrapping, the co-ed ratio in the area was an absolute deal killer.

W&L was in my final 5, but I couldn’t get over the fact that it’s in the middle of nowhere. Went to a few parties in the mountains on my visit, and there were lots of women from Hollins, Sweet Briar, etc. Reminded me of the Catholic school dynamic in Louisville with St X Trinity and Assumption/SHA.

Beautiful campus too. But man it’s literally in the middle of nowhere.
