OT - Best service for I-Pad

I am planning on buying an I-Pad with cellular. What are your recommendations for the service provider - Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint?

I have 2 iPads with 2 different carriers....

My personal one has ATT. My company was reimbursing us for the cost of it, and later issued the newer iPads with Verizon. I ended up keeping my other one for my wife.

I have to lean going with Verizon. Speed is about equal, service is about the same when I am around town in jackson. The glaring difference is when I take my iPad up to my camp and hunting in the middle of no where. I get zero service from att, and always amazed that I'm flying on Verizon.

I was told that Verizon works on the same technology as Cspire, for what thats worth. Maybe why it works so well in rural areas.

know nothing about sprint.

1. Wait until after tomorrow to get one. New iPads will be announced tomorrow.

2. I am planning to buy an iPad, but am getting a wifi only model. I am going to use my phone as a hotspot (included in your cell plan if you have a shared data plan). It save $130 on the iPad, and $10/month to add it to my plan.

3. My personal phone is AT&T, work phone is Verizon, both work great. I wouldn't use Sprint ever (our old work phones were Sprint, and worked no where). I think both have areas they're better, but both have pretty good coverage most places.

This. I use my iphone as a hotspot for my ipad. Works great and keeps me from paying the extra monthly fee.

i'm complete opposite. my wife had verizon and i have at&t, we had to adjust hers to att because we couldnt get service from verizon outside of cities.

i suggest you just poll people you know near the places you go and see which cell provider most are using for their phones. That will tell you who has the best service in that area

This is the ticket. I switched to verizon from Cspire for better coverage while traveling outside MS. The hotspot on your iphone is free with verizon. It works great for working with the laptop or ipad while on the road. When I purchased a new ipad this spring, I went with the wifi only. I have not regretted it one bit. There is enough wifi around now that I only use the hotspot on the road.

+1, though I rarely need to use my ipad outside of wifi range. Those few times I do I use my phone. The ipad air is great, but it needs a tad more memory, hopefully the new one will have that.

CSpire can kiss my white ***. They cut my aunt's phone off because she was out of their area (Kansas) for too long. The kicker...she's at Fort Riley babysitting her grandson who's dad just got deployed to the middle east. As far as I'm concerned, CSpire=ISIS.

The CSpire rule is you can't have more than 50% of usage outside Mississippi or something like that. In the case of your aunt - that should have been an exemption.

You have to have more than 50% of your usage outside their service area 2 months in a row. Which is understandable since they're a regional company and have to pay roaming charges they can't pass along to the customer. I think you can make special arrangements if you call them ahead of time. But yeah, it does suck if you get caught up in it. Also, there should probably be a total minutes limit. I imagine the grandmother probably didn't have a lot of minutes even if over 50% of it was outside their service area.
