I just don’t agree with that. His recruits didn’t pan out for ONE year. If Boston was even half of what we thought he would be we’d have a winning record. What is Cal supposed to do?
Run an offense that takes advantage of the players skills. Cal is insisting on double posts, clogging the lane and having no spacing. This offense is putrid.
Our strength this year is our defense. Offense is putrid because of the lack of skill that these recruits are supposed to bring. Cal’s system struggles without an elite PG/playmaker.
These recruits don’t lack skill. They lack the skill to play the game the way Cal insists they play.
Have you ever seen a team get dinged for as many “moving screens” as we do? Those are anticipation foul calls. The “charge” on Mintz was absolutely terrible. Tons of contact under our basket that warranted zero whistles. Went on the entire second half.
Yep. Without Clarke, we don’t even have one guy that can beat his man to the basket off the dribble. Losing Clarke was a huge blow.
Some of those calls down the stretch were hard to watch.
This is very likely the truth. The NCAA protocols call for 7 consecutive days of negative tests to compete in Indy. There is no way teams will want to jeopardize their placement in the field of 68 for a conference tourney championship. There may be some conference tourneys, but likely regular season champs will be awarded the auto bid for this singular season. I think many will fold tent on the idea.
They cancelled almost all conference tournaments AND the Big Dance last year. So, they’re not above cancelling the conference tournaments again in an attempt to make sure the NCAAT is played.

You gave me a bear hug in the end zone seats behind the basket when the Cats won it all in 1996 at the Meadowlands! You still rank as one of my favorite Cats ever.
