For those that think Cal will change his OAD, not playing the guys that give the best chance to win, develop an offense, embrace shooters, what have you seen from him that makes you think this? Serious question.

I support him but I do wish he would make some staff changes. With the amount of yearly roster turnover he simply cannot have many/any whiffs on kids he’s bringing in. The talent available in each class is not equal and there have been too many kids the last few years that simply were too skill deficient (shooting/dribbling) to be at UK for only 1 season.

He needs some expert talent evaluators and a “good cop” badly.

You’re making a blanket generalization of shooters based on near term data, most specifically weighted towards this season’s data.
Huh? Either you did not read my post correctly or just nit picking parts of it, anyway, I am not going to play cat and mouse with you.

You may be right but Cal hasn’t hit a low like this probably ever before in his career. Time for some self reflection from coach and I believe he will change things up next season. He should be able to fix whe problem with the team, the man deserves that much

I know I do!
Cal hates all of you and shows it daily. Why would any of you support him? I understand supporting the program but not Cal. He has totally screwed Allen over this year and yet plays Boston and says it’s due to cater to his mental health! What a complete joke! He’s clearly just trying to manipulate you all when he says something as stupid as that because now if you attack him for his decision making you’re a bad person because you then don’t care about these kids “mental health” because a sport is just so damn important in the whole grand scheme of things, ya know? Cal is a woke loser and should have taken the job at UCLA so he could live with all his woke buddies in Commifornia! I hate Cal, yes I’m an IU fan but I don’t hate him because he’s the coach at UK. I hate him for what he’s done to Allen whom I love watching play and being a manipulative liberal FU&@!

Last five-six years?

Well, in the last six NCAA tournaments, 2014-2019, he played in a championship game, played in a Final Four, lost in the Elite Eight on a desperate shot to the eventual champion and lost in the Elite Eight in overtime. I have no doubt the team, with the best guards in the country, was poised to do well last year. Covid-19 intervened. For the record, I don't blame that on Calipari.

They didn't play the SEC tournament last year. In the FIVE years before that, Kentucky won FOUR.

Kentucky won the SEC conference outright last year.

Any of that ring a bell?

A lot of that rings a bell, but in the last 5 years, how have we done in the NCAA Tournament. How many SEC teams besides UK, in the last 10 years have won an NCAA Tournament. I know Florida did years ago, and before that, Arkansas. In the last 5 years, have we played up to our having the Number One recruiting class? Not by my standards, and a lot of other fans standards. I have seen Cal outcoached so many times, by teams with players who were not very good. How about this year, I bet your happy. Auburn was terrible, but we were worse. I look at these other teams, and they are just LOADED with 5 star players, LOL. Take a look at Alabama, they get good players, and they win NC's.

While I agree with this, after watching Cal since 2015, I don't think he has any desire to change. Another year he deserves, but will also add another year to our misery. Next year is bad, Cal leaves, hire a new coach, probably looking at 2/4 years to get turned around, new coach has to recruit, and get players to stay, so by the time they are juniors/seniors, it will be 2025. I can assure you, when Cal leaves, we will have a bare cupboard.
Yep. Knowing Cal, if he has one more recruiting class like the year he got Wall and Cousins, he will leave and take them with him. One final middle finger to UK.

We can talk about Elite Eight and other, but that is for Losers, especially when you have the talent we recruit. We can make excuses all day, but I don't believe in making excuses. I learned in the Air Force, no one is interested in your excuse. JUST DO IT!

Do I support the coach who has the most Final Four and Elite Eight appearances of anyone in America this decade, who won outright last year's SEC, who delivered a championship and has had Kentucky in the hunt almost every year of his tenure, and who has Oscar Tschwiebe, Daimion Collins, Bryce Hopkins and Nolan Hickman signed to join a robust roster of returnees?

LOL. The fact that it is a question shows the imbecility and immaturity of the small slice of Kentucky's fan base represented on this board.

For the record: Yes.
How has he done the last five years? Tubby has a better winning percentage at this point. By the end of the season Joe B Hall's last five years will be better than Cals. You simply have to look at recent results. There are many, many sales people in the corporate world that would love to coast their last five years. It just doesn't work that way. He is stubborn, antagonizes the fan base, his press conferences have become a "he said what"...., etc.

Call’s not bad. He just sucks with X’s and O’s That’s all.. If he can get jorts drafted, he can fix this and these other guys drafted in a couple years..
The man coached his *** off at UMass and Memphis and he didn’t get the type of players that he has here at UK so there is no doubt that he knows the ax’s and O’s.

I supported Calipari until he allowed the players to kneel and then made up some ******** excuse that he was holding his hand over his heart while kneeling. Just mockery and this team sucks period. If this team kneels again, Calipari can leave and take his **** show of a team with him.

I support Coach Cal his body of work speaks for itself. I'm not concerned at all. Yes this season sucks but you don't throw away people because they have one or two bad seasons.
but it was enough to throw Tubby away right? Who never went to the NIT.... and has as many championships as Cal. ssoo.... why the sudden change?

This is Kentucky.

Perhaps what I dislike most about a coach turning in a subpar performance is the rationalizing that goes with it.

Here is the bottom line

When a coach accepts the job at Kentucky, he knows what he is walking into. Look at what it did to Sutton and Gillispie. The job is demanding, there are no mulligans.

Cal has an innovated approach to coaching and wants to implement it here...great. When it works he is royalty.

Covid-19? Nobody cares. They are still ranking teams, there are teams that are still winning and one of them will win the national championship. Cal is the coach of Kentucky. His job, without excuse, is to have this team winning.

Rampant cheating? Nobody cares. He made the decision to go all in with his approach, he knew players were being paid and he still chose to go the path of high risk/low reward as opposing to changing. Cal is the coach of Kentucky. His job, without excuse, is to have this team winning.

Most final fours in this decade? Most SEC tourney whatever? He doesn't get paid for what happened 8 years ago, 5 years ago or 3 years ago. Nobody cares. Cal is the coach of Kentucky. His job, without excuse, is to have this team winning.

Welcome to Kentucky. It bought your beachfront home in New Jersey. Its given you a chance to change your reputation as a coach. Its given you a platform to define your legacy. Nobody cares. Cal is the coach of Kentucky. His job, without excuse, is to have this team winning.

You can never, as the coach of Kentucky, have a historically bad season and reach new lows.

He does deserve another year. But another year of him insulting fans, declaring to the press he is willing to lose games for a kid's ego along with incompetent managing of this program and I will celebrate him leaving. As far as I am concerned, he has no more sub standard years until he puts in another run like 2009 - 2015. The threshold for sub standard to me, and I think most reasonable fans, is sweet 16 and double digit losses. If you can't rise above that mark in 2 years then your coaching skillsets have diminished and you have no business being the coach of Kentucky. Before anyone start to tell me about other HOF coaches who had consecutive bad years, please go back and re-read the italicized recurring phrase in this post.

Unconditional support for a coach at Kentucky is fallacy. "You people are crazy" - John Calipari

We were a Rooferee and some lucky shots away from the Final Four during 2 of those five years.

The same exact thing could be said for other teams we beat in 2010 and 2015. Unfortunately close doesn’t count as it’s all relative. Yes it was so close but both resulted in losses in which Kentucky did not advance to the FF. Results matter.

What if “almost” happens 4 more times over the next 8 years and the overall results are similar to the last 5 years? That’s what most people’s main issue is (amongst other things). They don’t believe the next 10 years will be any different than the last 5 and honestly probably worse because more and more schools are recruiting one and done , more players are going to random schools and more players are going to the G league AND more players are quitting half season to train for the draft lmfao.

Cal’s approach will not lead to success anymore because of the above.
