That is the only way Cal can have his way. He didn't plan on Allen playing this well and this early, it goes against his principles and beliefs to play him a lot. So, for this to work for both parties is Allen must leave!. I have a feeling that Baker and Johnny were getting to good and were going to require more minutes and that would take away from Cal's fav's, so they were asked to transfer.

I'm a Kentucky fan, but I would rather see him play for another and show out. I don't want him to sit and not play and lose confidence that he should play here but coach isn't going to play him.

To be candid, I thought this made sense even before the OP posted it. If Cal is going to sit him behind this year's OAD's, he'll sit behind next year's OAD's, and so on. That's just how Cal does it -- promises playing time and "development" to the OAD's for the 6 months that they are here to get them ready for the draft. Allen will always be secondary to each year's recruiting class and the promises that Cal made to them.

FWIW, I have inside info that Allen is generally happy here (as of a few weeks ago). But the writing is on the wall and he'll have to make a decision as to what is best for him in the long run. He's from Pendleton County and there are a lot of nearby opportunities including UC, Xavier, WKU, Louisville, NKU, Morehead State, and even Bellarmine (all Division 1 schools).

It's like some people want to get rid of everything pretty just so that they can complain about how ugly things are.

I think I have a higher opinion of Allen's ability than you. Since his high school junior year, I've been excited about the prospect of him being a very good college upperclassman at the highest level (e.g., UK). In my opinion, he's the best SF UK has now, and he'll easily be better than any SF high school recruit. And every top college team that needs a SF will be going after him if he decides to transfer.

So, job #1 for the staff should be to make sure Allen is returning. After that, they can continue chasing 5-stars or transfers or whatever else they believe the team needs.

What principle, you play your best player who give you a chance to win, if you are not doing that then you must have sold your soul to the devil for some reason, or made promises you say you don't do. At least in the past when he screwed Baker, and all those other none five stars he was winning, but this year makes me think he is not actually about winning.
