Had a pair of these back in the day.

I still like 'em, but I'm not sure what I was thinking showing up for pickup ball with those on. 😆

These were THE basketball shorts you had to have in 6th grade. Authentic only, not the screen printed versions. Wore my parents out for a pair, got them for Christmas, promptly got a hole in them a few weeks later. 🤬

Checked on eBay occasionally over the years. An authentic pair of Nike ones will run you a few hundred dollars, if you can even find them. Insane.

And [laughing] the mental image of JDrum of showing up to the gym rocking the Kente cloth Iverson shorts.

- muscles are nicely sore this morning. Just hiked around the woods at the farm for about an hour as today's exercise.

- Levi's 501s are the only jeans I've purchased in about a decade. I have 3 pair.

- I could kick the hell out of a kickball back in the day. I can still hear the sound of that ball bouncing off a kid trying to snag an extra base too #patoonk

- 40 was a breeze, when I got to 41 though I started realizing that statistically I'm over the hump. That sort of got me a bit.

- breakfast for dinner last night in honor of the fools that don't like breakfast food

- fishing is easily my favorite leisure activity, and has been since I can remember

- I used to bowl all the time. I bowled over 270 one time, had something like 7 or 8 strikes in a row. People were gathered up watching until I missed a couple of pins.

Funk #49 - James Gang
Come and get Your Love - Redbone
Come a Little Bit Closer - Jay and the Americans
Lawyers, Guns, and Money- Warren Zevon

Took the moderna vaccine Tuesday and was incredibly sick until last night. Body aches, headache, nausea. 800 mg of ibuprofen pretty much took care of it but had to stay on top of it. No thanks on having that **** seriously for two or three weeks, good lord. I’m the only one I know that got sick from it.

Turn 40 in April. My father was 44 when he had me so for whatever reason that still makes me feel young. We moved to America when he was fifty, from a multiple story 3 bedroom home to a 3 bedroom 600 square foot apt in a totally new country without any savings. He retired 12 years ago and is very comfortable financially, so that always gives me good perspective.

Got a bottle of the luxardo maraschino cherries for Xmas. Amazing how that 8 dollar gift was my highlight. My manhattans at night have been a joy.

I don’t know with this team. I will say the wins provide a feeling of joy versus relief and anger that they were “as close as they were”. Typically I would be pissed and annoyed barely escaping MSU and Vandy but not this year, just happy. So that’s nice.

Football playoffs are great, one of the best parts about college is Saturday games. Can’t imagine being a huge NFL fan and regularly getting hammered on Sunday’s.A day off before a full week of work is crucial.

I deserve all the **** for this but I got a pair of Tommy Bahama jeans 3 years ago and they’re my favorite pair of jeans ever. Outside of the palm trees lining the inside of the pockets you would never know. My other pair is Lucky, which seem fine.

What’s your Manhattan recipe? I haven’t had much success- although my Old Fashioneds are legit.

If you got these Ron, they're about $20 but the only type of cherry that should grace a quality Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Leave that turbo red piece of fruit for kids ice cream sundaes.

Not sure if that makes you feel better or worse about the gift?

Those are the ones my man. Guess I thought my wife is cheaper than she actually is.

WCC: 3 parts woodford or knob creek, 1 part martini and rossi sweet vermouth, 3 dashes angusturo bitters, one of the said cherries and one spoonful of the cherry juice from that bottle.

We keep a jar of orange peel strips soaking in simple syrup in the fridge. Lasts forever.

My go-to cocktail is a modified Old-Fashioned:
2 oz bourbon of choice
1/2 tsp of Benedictine
2 drops of Angostura bitters
Orange peel
Cherry (Luxardo or Filthy)

The kids at Cassidy playground play some game called ga ga ball. No idea the rules, but they seem to enjoy it.

I was going to mention the crew used to have a good time bowling on occasion back in the day until SOMEONE had to ruin it. Thanks Adrian.

I would occasionally go to the bowling alley bar after waiting tables at Rafferty’s b/c someone knew someone playing in the bowling alley bar band. Most nights post serving were spent at Malibu Pub though. Love that place.

Someone weird and quirky who's done things others only dream of....

KrazyKat has not only bowled a 300, he's been on the cover of some obscure bowling magazine that's real big in Europe, and once was invited to bowl at the White House during the Clinton years.

Yeah Krazy is like the world's most interesting man, if they had a retarded version.

And I obviously have the best Bowling name in gyero dumbasses.

Circling back to bowling - like anything else in GYERO, there are no doubt a few people in here who KNOW they are the best, so who are you?

It's going to be someone weird & quirky. Hyman, Cawood, Joey are my guesses. Possibly Vern.

Bowled in some youth leagues, and a couple of leagues in Germany, when I was in the Air Force. I'm good for about 160 most games, only broken 200 one time in my life. I was more interested in drinking than bowling.

I had the navy version. Back then, I was lean and mean, fightin' the power and eatin' whatever I wanted. 😆 Could actually run a bit and hoop despite my inherited pastiness. Got pretty decent at one time playing against the great Harlan HS players of that time.

Manhattan IS better than an Old Fashoned. Most "up" cocktails are superior to those made on the rocks.

Somebody mentioned Luxardo. I have a hard time finding it sometimes, but it's a key ingredient in my favorite warm weather cocktail: The Aviation. (as long as it's dry, and not that ridiculous purple drank you see in most recipes online, from pouring more than a drop of violette in it)

I got a bottle of some Old Fashioned syrup (just add ice and bourbon!) and that’s a good weekday/game day remedy for when I want an OF, probably more than one, and the spirit isn’t willing to make much effort.

@BBdK I used a domesto straight ball because I thought it was funny and it was cheap. I think a lot of people share that sentiment.

@jeff The key to bowling, for me, was accuracy by using your arm as a pendulum. Early on you want to rip it hard but end up in the gutter because your arm isn't straight. The best bowler in our league was in his 60s and threw the ball slightly harder than the kids rack mount.
