It's becoming obvious Kenny Payne was the one coaching and keeping the players feelings under control.
Even our low end recruits think they’re entitled to something. Culture is utterly broken.

I would prefer to see Toppin and Ware get his minutes until he proves he's more capable than them.
Cal is the problem. Not the players. He asembled this team. He decides who plays and how they play. He's the problem.

The guys on our bench could start and not fare any worse than the starters. Every game this year we’ve had guys just mailing it in. At least this dude is fighting to get in the court. Half these other guys seem like they fighting to get off it. Stupid fouls, reach ins, effort fouls, you have to adjust your game to how the refs are calling it. It’s called Basketball IQ and we have a low one.

Go 10 min without a FG, and we have a guy who scored 46/ game——that hasn played 1min n 2 games. What would it hurt to give him some run? Is he gonna miss shots —-like everyone else?

Do you see a guy In this team who you would even allege has leadership skills? There’s no one to rally around.
Fletcher will have to wait his turn, I'm sure they all get pissed being a top 50 recruit and not getting to play much and losing games all the time will do that to you. On the other hand Freshman used to not even be eligible to play until their Sophomore year, he needs to understand that too. Fletcher is six foot six, Brooks and Bacot would have eat him up today, that's why he didn't play much. Cal is having this problem more and more with these kids nowadays. Why would you even want to coach mostly freshman because you will always be limited in how far you can go with this kind of a team. Hardly none of them will ever be able to play like they could if they stayed another year but then it's time for another headache to deal with next year and more frustration.

When your Coach tells he will get you to the NBA and then you sit and begin to wonder how do I get there on the bench? That is why program is broken, all of the young men want immediate gratification.

I don’t know. What we are doing obviously isn’t working. Kid got frustrated. And it’s not like the guys in front of him are lighting it up. Our frontline today was absolutely horrible. Our front line was 4-11 shooting today with 20 fouls called. Not getting it done, not being in correct positions, standing and reaching, lazy uninspired basketball
Cal has to do a better job identifying players that want to buy in. Major fail job on Green, Fletcher, Whitney, SKJ, Vanderbilt, Juzang, Wynyard, Briscoe, Diallo, Hagans, EJ, Baker, Gabriel, Skal, Matthews, etc.
Has any coach in UK history since Rupp was hired done that. I am curious. I can't think of one... Maybe Sutton?
