Props to Kentucky that in the wake of coach K crying Covid after a rough start and using it as an excuse to effectively cancel the rest of their non conference games, that they flipped their game with UCLA (to play an even better team) to better align with Covid protocols.

If nothing else it shows that Kentucky isn't afraid of playing anyone anywhere, something that nobody can say about coach K.

Hats off to Cal and the UK fanbase for making it happen. As an IU fan I'll be rooting for you all on Saturday.

That is the troll line. They really think we are afraid to play their sorry *** so he thinks coming here and throwing in a passive aggressive cheap shot will some how make his insecure butt feel better.

It looks like the OP is sincere with a well meaning post.
No need to treat him like a jerk.
If he is a troll, it will come out sooner or later.
I've posted on this board before and like I've said I don't dislike Kentucky at all.

Just thought it was interesting in the wake of Duke struggling early and Using Covid to cancel all their non conference games that Kentucky was willing shift games and play an even better team to make it work.

Kudos.

Believe what you want but I'm not trolling. If I actually thought you all were scared to play Indiana I would come out and say it.

Based on your non conference schedule no way you're scared to play a slightly above average Indiana team.

It doesn't sound like Cal had any say in this game change, maybe he agreed to it, but I highly doubt the other 3 coaches just sat there and let Cal dictate this swap or let him have his way.

Besides that, UCLA and unc might not be much different ranking-wise when all is said and done.

Also, Cal has weakened our out of conference scheduling so much over the years to compensate for the young teams that his NBA draft hard-on causes, I don't see how anyone can think Cal isn't afraid to play anyone at any time. Tom Izzo he ain't

Yeah I don't follow UK all that much anymore outside of the occasional headline but I lost a lot of respect for coach K after his Covid 19 comments coming off two losses and then cancelling games.

It's just good see a program (the caliber of Kentucky) willing to do what it takes to make it work in what's going to amount to a really weird season.

Meh, he's doing what he thinks is best. His team has some veterans and they are playing well enough that they don't have to be afraid of Garder Webb.
I know we like to crap on the guy, but right now, we live in one hell of an ugly glass house and so does Indiana.

UNC and UCLA is a wash. UCLA would be favored at home vs. UNC.

It's not even the Covid situation, this is going to be a really weird year for all involved and it's going to be tough for any program to deal with.

That said, most will agree that if coach K really felt that way he would've said it before the season, not after he'd already lost two non conference games at home.

Then using it to get out of the rest of his non conference games because he was tired of losing. A complete cowardly move, especially from a well respected coach.

Exactly. Rat boy was sitting at 2-2 and had been blown out in the 2 losses. It doesn't surprise me that he wanted to nix the rest of the non-conference even though it was cupcake city. His thinking could have been at 2-2 if we lose to a Gardner Webb and drop to 2-3 he would have been more upside down than he has been in about 40 years. Why chance it. I mean it's not like playing a week or so later at ND was any safer. I think rat boy just didn't want to chance it after watching his team get trounced at home by Illinois. He's a hypocrite, always has been.

This is how you know you've become delusional about our coach- you can't even take a compliment from a rival fan about him without denying it completely. Can we say that Cal had to at least agree to this? Maybe. I'm guessing he could have said no. But since you hate his ever lovin' guts, it can't be true. Since you don't actually know the behind the scenes negotiations of this, I think it's fair to just say "we don't really know." Maybe we could just leave it at that. Or we could all chip in and buy you a Calipari dart board? Merry Christmas.

Here you go, just flip the whole thing around and say that he agreed to replace UCLA with UNC because he hates Kentucky and wants to see us lose another game. There you go. It's settled.

WTH got into you?

First of all, I don't hate Cal's guts, I hate the farm system he runs. I don't understand why that's hard to understand.

Second of all, never, did I ever, say that I knew for certain who made what decisions. If you go back to my post, you will CLEARLY see that I said "It doesn't look like Cal had any say… .". Now, you tell me, doesn't it appear to you that I'm clearly speculating based on the only information we have? All we have been told is the games were switched because the Covid protocols for the PAC12 and the BIG10 were at least close and the ACC and the SEC were close as well.

So again, "it doesn't look like Cal had any say in this decision". That is not a shot at Cal, so I don't know why you decided to take it that way.

As far as the weakened schedule comment in my post, you didn't say anything about that, but it's a very true statement, our pre conference scheduling is weaker than it used to be and IT IS definitely due to the system Cal runs that creates a young roster every year. Do you agree… .or no?

Again, what got into you? I said nothing out of line.

Sick of what?

Everyone has their opinions and our favorite program sits at 1-4 and we lose damn near our whole team every year, which is the cause of this.

I don't like being attacked for my stances either, but it happens constantly. Then a new guy comes along and does the same thing.

Sick of the constant "Cal sucks" "fire Cal" "Cal can't coach" posts. Your post here just says to me that you can't even accept ONE positive thing about your coach. That's sad. But that's where we are, eh?

Out of all my posts, you picked one out that was very accurate based on the information we had/have. Where did I blast him? What was false?

Here's what keeps getting missed. I have said repeatedly that Cal would absolutely crush it if he went with a traditional model. His motivation and push is better than any coach in the country, but one-and-done makes it so much harder, mainly on him.

Now, does THAT sound like someone that hates Cal? I have said those exact words a thousand times on here the last 2 years, but all you want to do is focus on the parts where I say we are a farm system and Cal's offense is outdated. That makes you no better than Baller or Bass.

I'm a UK fan first and foremost and right now, I don't like what's happening.

This is just blatantly false. Very few in here feel that way or post that way. Are there a handful? Yes. But the vast majority recognize Cal as a good coach that simply needs to adjust his tactics right now.

This is how the majority of fans feel. Something has to change. The minority opinions are he needs to be fired, or that everythint is fine.

Most rational people see a glaring issue with this system. Sorry folks, this is just sports. Not gonna toe the company line.

I guess I'm no better Jeff. I suppose I reacted to your post and not others because I know you're not just a fly-by like so many of the others. Take that as a compliment, because that's what it is. The board is just filled with this constant anti-Calipari anger and hate. We (message board UK fans) seem to have very little charity toward the man who dragged us out the crap BCG got us into and lifted us above the mediocrity Tubby had us living in for a decade when we were irrelevant. I just think he's earned a mulligan. We went to the Elite in 2018. No post-season last year.

But in this particular instance, why argue with the Hoosier fan driving by to say "Good on you UK and Cal" for taking this game? Why correct him? Cal may not have had a say in the opponent change. But I bet he could have vetoed it. I bet he could have said, "Nope, we're not playing that game, not this year!" And they could have just played it off as a Covid issue, which would have been at least half true. But why even speculate that "Nobody should think Cal isn't afraid to play anyone"? It just seems to me to be an unnecessary insult to Calipari. We haven't played a tough home schedule under Calipari, no, but we've played tough opponents every season- mostly neutral site games. UK season ticket holders just want more tough non-conference home games. Cal has avoided those because of young teams every season, yes, but we've still played UNC, UCLA, Kansas, Duke, and so on. I just don't think it was worth correcting, unless you just can't stand for our coach to get ANY credit. That's the way it came across to me. Maybe I took it wrong because the rest of the posts on this board are incessantly bashing our coach.

I mean....Duke and Sparty played in Durham because of protocols. SEC and ACC are more closely aligned than SEC and B1G or Pac. SEC was more closely aligned with Big 12 procedures, hence we played Kansas.

If anyone should be getting kudos, it should be Tom Izzo for going to Duke instead of having a dick swinging contest over venues, and then summarily whipping Duke.

I would wager a large sum of money this game got switched because of the Pac 12. So yes, kudos to Cal and Roy for saying sure whatever, we'll play instead.

Id rather play UNC all day every day anyway.

Nobody is asking anyone to toe the company line. I just think you're wrong. You're just ill because we've had a terrible start and this particular team, which is an outlier under Calipari, seems to be broken and unfixable. I certainly would agree this particular team has been a screwed up mess. There are multiple legitimate reasons for why this team is a mess, though, that are unrelated to the system Cal has been employing. Brooks being out has been huge, and not anyone's fault. Covid-19 screwing up the summer, blue-white game, exhibitions, and a few home cupcakes doesn't help, either. With a normal schedule, we'd likely be sitting at 5-2 or 4-3 at worst right now. We'd have multiple wins over "directional U" but it would be better and the team would have had a better chance to gel.

What I've seen at UK under Calipari is great players every season. I've seen a contender every season except one, and this one would make 2. I've seen a decade of high percentage winning, a title, multiple Final Fours, multiple Elite 8s. I've seen a program that has been the best in the game. This current team, on paper, should be elite. It may yet be. What will things look like here if this team turns it around, wins the SEC, and makes some noise in the NCAA-T?

The other issue is that there is a segment of the fanbase who has hated Cal from the start and pounce any time the team hits adversity. We hear it every season after our first loss. These folks come out of the woodwork. When the team is doing well, they are nowhere to be found. They give no credit to the job Cal does every year preparing a team and helping them maximize the potential. I have little use for folks like that because they have an obvious agenda.
