We have no point guard play. Askew isn’t ready, Mintz is a shooting guard and Clarke is a project. We should’ve hired his brother. CC was one of the super studs we’ve been missing for 5 years.

That's exactly what I said in another thread we should've hired his brother instead of brusier Flint and we would've been in a way better position than 1-4!

Im proud of Cal taking the high road on Cade.
Richie summed it up. Askew will be solid some day but maybe not this year. The turnover assist ratio and 3 pt shooting gaps are a lot to overcome. Teams get 1 weakness not two. Future is very bright. Duke is having the same issue. Both programs will be back in contention in 2022. For the elites that is Final Four contention. UK will surprise after another 10 to 12 games with any development of team chemistry.
Cal needs to stop hiring all his buddies for his staff he's starting to act more and more like Tubby everyday. There are more qualified candidates out there than what we have on staff and even if it meant taking Cade's brother for a few seasons just to get Cade for a season it would've been well worth it I dont see nothing wrong with that!

Problem with Cade is he's more of a ball hog than Boston is. I haven’t noticed anything all that spectacular with him. I've seen him get very frustrated and I've seen him try to carry the team on his own and he isn't good enough yet to do that.
Even if he was on this team, we would still be struggling. This team practiced together for 5 months, but they look completely uncoached on offense. They look like they've never worked on offense. The defense isn't much better. Cade isn’t the answer in my opinion.
Plus, we dont need any more bad looks, hiring the kids brother is a really bad look. We would trash coach k or Roy for doing that, so we can't go out and do it.

I definitely agree pg is the major hole. Askew is at least a year away. He can barely compete right now let alone produce.

Heck, Pitino hired Jamaal Magloire's HS coach to get him. It's not like UK hasn't done this before.
cade's playing with an experienced team also, big difference than playing with all freshmen.

We should have hired CC's brother. It was the logical move and would have probably put us in serious contention for national title. Cal seems more motivated by clearing his name from 11-15 years ago. We're not paying him to be a choir boy or to be vindicated with the nation media. We're paying him to win national titles.
I wonder if HerroesHeroes and the other "high road" brethren would want to give back that 1998 title because Magloire played on it and Pitino hired his coach as a "low road" tactic?

We should have hired a Yorkshire Terrier instead of Bruiser Flint. Cal needs to stop playing the old crony club and hire some real assistants. You're absolutely correct hire his brother. Then after Cade is gone get rid of him if he isn't good enough.
If whiffing on one recruit (and let's be honest, it's not just been one over the years) causes the product on the floor to devolve into tragicomical mess, then the entire system than made such a thing possible is rotten and needs to be reenvisioned. From recruit evaluation, the actual recruiting process, roster building, practice focus and processes, and in-game tactical flexibility...all of it needs to be reevaluated and adaptations made where necessary.
Unfortunately, it's hard for me to see this changing in such a manner under Coach Cal and the current staff. Really, it's a shame, because he really helped bring the program back from a very low point.

Missing on Cunningham and Cooper (Suggs too, not sure story there), is one thing but there are obviously lots of other freshman/grad transfers that are way better than Askew, the Primo kid last night for example. Just really bad evaluation on Askew in my opinion, especially when Mintz is really more of a 2. I still think once they missed on Cunningham Cal just thought Clarke could run the point if needed.
hate to say it, they are young kids, but what killed this team more than anything is Boston being an overrated wash out and Sarrs being soft. If those two could have consistently dominated, it's a different story.
I can't believe how soft sarr is. To his credit, he almost surely came here expecting kp to work on his physical toughness and playing through contact, much like they did with Kat.
There is no doubt that really hurt, but Cooper would be making Jackson look like a lottery pick 100% and Sarr would get way more easy buckets and on and on. Hell, him and Boston were on the same AAU team, you know that would have helped Boston.
