Not trying to attack you, just want a discussion (which others in this thread simply could not handle without getting triggered). I think what you said is true for me, and you recognize that it’s true for you. Just because it is true for us, does not mean that it’s true for everyone.
I mean look at a guy like Oscar Grant, a man who made bad mistakes (mistakes similar to ones I’ve made), but showed a determination to get his life back on track. Look what happened to him, before he even really got a chance. That’s not just an anecdotal case, these things keep happening in the US. And no it doesn’t only happen here. And just because it’s worse somewhere else, doesn’t mean we should condone it here.
We’ve already seen progress from the conversations and actions that have taken place this year. Some choose only to pay attention to the isolated incidents of violence and rioting, which were few and far between. Many people (and many on this board) have been trivializing these conversations and actions. They clearly feel threatened by it. They want to silence talks of progress. Progress has never been pretty in this nation, it’s never been particularly peaceful either. If people are really successfully silenced by the opposition it just makes the atrocities of systemic racism and police brutality easier to commit. It’s uncomfortable to talk about, I get that. But being dismissive of this cause is truly unfair and quite frankly it adds to the suffering.
Appreciate the opportunity. From my perspective, the issues are still internal. For consideration-every movie with a heavy black presence depicts the black community as ghetto, drug user, gang bangers, pimps, etc. Same with the music-celebrates violence to all people, especially cops. Kids growing up in homes without both parents quadruples the risk to our kids, this is big issue in black communities and it’s celebrated to have multiple kids with multiple baby mommas.
Whether right or wrong, if you go into a predominantly black community you’re on guard-even if you’re black. Most athletes even go as far as to say they are lucky to have made it out of their communities, many cite making it out alive seemed almost impossible growing up. They lived there, they were a part of it and were scared of their environment-how do you think an outsider would feel, especially a white one? If I were a cop in these neighborhoods, I would be on high alert and could see myself making poor decisions-only to assure I save my own life.
The black communities have to clean up the black communities. If I were a black actor I would refuse to be depicted in the manner that’s most often portrayed. If I lived in these communities, I would leave. If you sell drugs on the corner, I’d push to have it cleaned up. I would want a larger police presence.
A way out-the military is a great option, but it requires work and discipline and it’s not easy. The reality is that progress isn’t easy-it’s hard to be successful no matter your color or origin. Even harder if you don’t recognize the problem and work to correct course. The black community problems can only be corrected by the black community IMO but I don’t see any leadership internally to address it. Our government isn’t going to do it, they are only interested in your vote every 2 or 4 years.

The biggest external problem facing the black community and is now impacting the white community is government. Also, black leadership is failing the community.
It was LBJ's "Great Society" that ushered in the welfare state that has lead to the rise of the single mom household in the black community. It is now spilling over the the white community.
In the 2020 election we just had, blacks voted overwhelmingly for the very party that was the party of slavery, Jim Crow and that opposed Civil Rights legislation. Blacks overwhelmingly continue to vote for the same policies that have seen the destruction of their families and the cities in which they live.
And now, with the political correctness of "blm", which is really socialism under another name, and CRT they're being told 2+2 can equal 5. Blacks are being told that adding 2+2=4 is being white. They're being told if you attempt to learn or speak correct English you're "acting white". They're being told if you work hard that's acting white.
Black leadership is failing the community and is further isolating the community. Why? So folks like Jesse, Al, Pelosi and Shummer can stay in power.
Hell yeah man a lot of the stuff you’re saying is not wrong whatsoever. Like you’re definitely right about a lot of this. My wife made it out of her really really rough neighborhood and terrible school thanks to the sacrifices of her mother. She’s certain her life would be way different had it not happened. But the city she moved to still had problems with crime and she was still shot as a bystander in an altercation.
But have you ever asked yourself how these dangerous predominantly black communities came to be this way? I totally disagree that “black community problems can only be fixed by the black community”. I think that was a ridiculous statement. These communities were shaped by de jure segregation, and it happened for decades even long after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It was absolutely deliberate. The people in these communities were then exploited for decades, to fill up prisons for free labor/legalized slavery. The government had by far the biggest hand in in ravaging these neighborhoods. Our government ensured that progress would only be incremental and that continues now. In a way what you’ve said is reality though. Since Black communities have been left to struggle, they are the only ones who can pick up the pieces of what has been destroyed, because no one else has been willing to do it.
The 2020 Democratic Party is not the party of slavery, or Jim Crow and I think you know that you’re being ridiculous. Yeah voting for the Democratic Party isn’t great, but there’s a reason that 85% of black people didn’t vote for Trump or the party that is CURRENTLY against equality and pro-systemic racism.
Look at the diversity and inclusiveness of the Democratic Party compared to the Republican Party. What makes you think that black people want to be represented by a party made up of 90% old white men. And yeah Joe Biden is exactly that, and doesn’t have a history of being progressive, but is already filling his cabinet with diverse and infinitely qualified individuals. Look at his economic team compared to the losers that Trump put together.
If Republicans want black people to vote Republican then they should adopt policies that don’t actively hurt black communities. The two-party system isn’t the answer, but you’re extremely stupid if you think black people will vote to be oppressed.
First solution....stop voting for the same party that has caused the bulk of the issues facing the black community. In the 2020 election we just had 85+% of the black vote went for Biden...well maybe...we'll see.

Second....black churches need to ditch the Liberation Theology which perpetuates a perpetual victim status.
Third....get fathers back. This may be the single best thing that could be done. Young boys need a dad and a mom. Momma can't raise boys by herself. Every society has proven this. Boys need a dad.

Oh, one last one....the Demoncrat Party supports an organization that has killed more blacks than any other in history. Planned Parenthood. Ever wonder why so many PP "clinics" are so close to black neighborhoods?

Look at the major urban areas like Chiraq, Atlanta, St Loius, Baltimore, Loserville, NY....all run by democrats. That "diversity" you're citing isn't helping the inner city.

Look at Baltimore-they had an opportunity to vote in a very conservative, black leader into office and because Trump supported her, she lost. I truly believe she cares about HER community and the people but was labeled as a Trump supporter and racist by her own people. She would have worked hard to clean up the mess, but won’t have the opportunity.
Too many labels are being applied, too much mistrust across party lines, ethnicities, etc. If change is what people are after, then shake up the whole system and vote opposite and measure the outcome-everyone knows they aren’t getting crap from their votes now so how could it hurt?

Maybe you can tell us what everyone should be called. since I’m 73 years young I have seen a lot, read a lot, and heard a lot and that seems to be the question in the age of identity politics. I really mean this. If calling someone black is as you say, very telling, then what does it tell you? Just so you understand, pro- slavery was neither a conservative or progressive position but was an economic one. And in 1860 the Democratic Party was the party of slavery. But today is 2020 soon to be 2021 so what has changed in the world. Nothing, Dem and Rep still arguing about race when the powers that be in both parties of all colors are laughing all the way to the bank. That’s makes us all slaves.

And big Kari is a race biter plain and simple. I work with all types of people with color and they aren’t oppressed by any means only the ones that choose to be. I am white and had to earn every single thing I got, nothing was handed to me. The equality movement is one of the most divisive movements of all time.

Had she stayed on the field and had they returned the ball, she could’ve been seriously hurt. Open to me means understanding another's position, open to change ones own understanding rather than to force change on another.
