Saturday Randos

—woke up around 5am, was on the river fishing with my buddies by 6. Just enough sunlight to cast out. We caught a few nice Blue Cats, 7-8lbs. Nice start to the day.

—got out the leaf blower, 18 bags of leaves later the yard was clean as virgins honey hole. 3 hours later different story. Oh well, gotta keep on top of them.

—in between managed to mow the yard, my “stripe” game is on point.

—somewhere around 3pm I hung out with my old man neighbor, who starts drinking beer around 10am. Had my first brown water, while watching a cheesy *** Kung-Fu movie (with subtitles). The old guy loves them, thinks all of the stunts are real. I don’t have the heart to tell him otherwise. Also burned a few Marlboro Red’s with him while he tried to keep it hidden from his old lady.

—accomplished the annual “Closing of the Vents” by measuring and cutting out pieces of that blue insulation ****. Do it every year, and every year I tell myself that I will mark each piece to use the following year but never do. I did however spray paint the pieces this year grey so I don’t have to listen the old lady gripe about how they look so “out of place”

—grilled 1.5” ribeyes for the lass and I. For the longest time I hated grilling steaks because I just couldn’t get them right. Hated wasting the money. Now, I’ve got them figured out on the trusty Weber Kettle. Perfect medium rare. Side of Greek Tortellini pasta salad and oven roasted asparagus, feel fat.

—it’s now 9:45 CST and I’m still sitting in the back yard, burning a cig, drink in hand. Not complaining.

I always think it is pretty obnoxious to argue that fans shouldn't rush the field because School X is "better than that". Clemson has White Cam Newton at QB and looked almost unbeatable. Notre Dame hasn't been up to its historical standards for years and the pandemic has worn on everyone.

It is nice to see college kids have fun and enjoy themselves. Who cares?

* Be interesting to see whether Stoops starts talking up Terry Wilson early this week or not. Gatewood didn't light the world on fire but with our receivers I'm not sure young Peyton Manning could either.

We can only realistically beat Vandy and South Carolina and I don't think the record means anything this year.

Stoops wasn't exactly talking Gatewood up either. Weird vibe there all around, especially with the way the staff commented on the Wilson injury.

* Inject this weather into my veins.

Completely disagree on Hank’s field-storming take. Only saving grace is the entire stadium is made up of students.

Also, Lawrence didn’t play and Clempson almost lost last week.

Still, big win for the Irish. Kelly needed that one.

My hot take on last nights game is if Lawrence had played what was he going to do that his backup didn’t do?

What a forgettable player EJ was. But would he be better off staying at UK and getting his degree or making $25K a year in the third tier Turkish league that likely won’t even happen this year? Tough call.
