Basic fried Mozzarella sticks are one of those things you just WORSHIP as a kid, but lose their appeal a bit later in life.

I mean, don't get me wrong -- they're good...but I certainly never order them in a restaurant amongst the other options. (except Patti's)

* Welp. I'm even more of an Old now. Got my first pair of glasses yesterday. Apparently I can't see **** from a distance, but I have SuperVision® up close. Most importantly, I can read the scores at the bottom of the TV now!

Seriously, I had no idea how bad my vision was.

* My basement is my new favorite sports bar.

- Good beer selection
- Decent bourbon selection
- 4-stool bar
- 80" TV with sound bar plus alternate TV above the bar
- Whatever kind of food I touching want
- Golden Tee, Electronic Darts, old-school Nintendo knock-off, pool table, air hockey, ping pong
- Chance of seeing a touching chipmunk in an indoor setting
- Open invite to most of you. Well, some of you.

* I've gotten to the point where I absolutely hate the Tennessee game. Realistically, we should have a good shot at winning. But any Cat fan knows it isn't going to happen. I used to convince myself we were going to win every year. Not now. I'm sure that will change by Friday night when I convince myself that Terry Wilson will the next coming of college Vince Young for a week.

Luckily, this week my kids have 3 soccer and 1 volleyball match on Saturday (plus 2 and 1 on Sunday) so despite my best attempts at not knowing the score, I will inevitably know the outcome before I get a chance to watch a recorded version Saturday evening.

* Our fall sports end next weekend. Thankfully, Basketball tryouts are this week to make sure I don't have too much free time on the weekends. Wouldn't want that to happen.

* Smoking some short ribs on Friday. I will have short rib tacos on Saturday and short rib chili on Sunday.

* Man, the autumn trees are gorgeous this year.

* I enjoy Angry Orchard Crisp Apple this time of the year with a couple of Platform Haze Jude's mixed in before switching to bourbon when its time to light up the fire pit. I'm not really into the pumpkin beers too much.

* Just got a bottle of OKI Thin Blue Line. Plan on opening it this weekend.

* Alright, that'll do it. Have a good Hump Day, GYERO.

What's the best app at any of these sportsbars you frequent, wings not included? Ill throw out:
Chicken Bacon Ranch Fries
Fries smothered in diced chicken, bacon bits, and queso.

You've posted these before and they rival the gas station fried chicken parts you get. Those are awful.

Just heard KSR say their Wingsday special is 25 wings for $20. As someone that hasn't eaten a large amount of wings since $0.10 wing night at O'Charley's back in the early 90's, is that a good deal?

Harry's
Drakes
Roosters

Mini's, wings, spinach dip, bourbon, beer, and plenty of telly's. It isn't rocket science.

-Funny thing about Ainsworth, if you been in them, it's really no different than Harry's. Everyone in this thread would enjoy it. Still a crime they tore down Landsdown Harry's for that BS they have there now. Not driving all the way to MOW for a Harry's.

-Don't think I didn't notice the beer snobs are also the same goons claiming they want their sports bar to basically be a dirt floor abandoned barn with no frills and cheap prices.. Also, loose correlation to the "missing like" crew. Take that for what it's worth.

-BDubs setup is great, but man, the food has fallen off BIG TIME the last few times I've eaten there.

-If you don't like draft domestos, I'm sorry, I can't take you serious. I'm not sure I like any inanimate object more than an ice cold draft domesto. That first sip is bliss. Take your sock tasting snobby IPA and get pumped.

-ACB is crushing it. Good for her. Seems like a great lady.

-Now I want wings. Lot's of wings.

-Good to hear from Crow. Was getting a bit worried. Looks like the walkabout is still underway.

-Stolen from KL and most adulting IG comedy accounts -> "I'm excited about kitchen shears from Prime Days years old."

-I think we get kinda rolled Saturday. Guantanamo just has our number. I do think we knock off one of the big 3 left on the schedule though.

-If the election brings one thing to us, it's removal of Amy McGrath from our lives forever. I can't take anymore. Most annoying political campaign and candidate I can remember. She's turrible and her ads are nauseating. Please co-pilot your jet to another state and try there. TIA.

In Bowling Green :

Mr. B's - Good pizza, cheese bread, TV set up, beer selection.

Bad- Staff is terrible and works a TV remote like a 3 year old.

Double Dogs - Sucks as far as game watching, BUT,,, the fire *** baked mac and cheese helps.

Roosters - decent, outside is better than inside. Surprisingly good pizza.

When the kids was younger taking them to Nashville to Jillians (Dave & Busters) I always ended up in the bar area while they played $100 worth of $10 in real value games (what a deal) so that I could watch how bad I was losing my *** on gambol for the day with multi games going. A plus was they listed lines and totals so I could sit at the bar, find a game about to start, and chase my losings. After a big day losing the last thing I wanted to hear was "Hey honey, lets bowl a game with the kids before we leave." Uh, how about we get the eff home so I can get to bed and find those magical Sunday NFL lines that are going to get me back to good. I ended up bowling and having fun,, Every-Damn-Time.

This time of year, on Saturday and Sunday I just stay home. Have a tv in the garage and 2 outside on the deck. So we will have several games going (If UK game is over). I have Sunday ticket so one tv I have split screen with several games and have fantasy lineups listed so you get the annoying *** updates when Mike Davis rushes for 3 yards or Valdez-Scantlin gets a 9 yard catch. Grill(s) going and I have a cool little Budweiser tap thingy that holds 120 ounces of beer on the bar creating a restaurant bar feel to it. Worship Sunday evenings with the same 3/4 friends coming over with their now young adult sons hanging out with me and my boys. The hens stay inside doing hen stuff, the guys outside gambling, drinking, grilling, playing cornhole. Probably end up spending twice as much as going out, but no idiots to put up with, some people just can't handle their alcohol, and NFL guy is the worst with his 1988 Bo Jackson jersey or his #82 Jason Witten jersey that is two sizes too small. His GF is not much better.

catsfagbyky is right about most criteria, except the "thick sauce that coats the wing". A thick sauce leaves a gloppy coating on the wing, which makes it go soggy. On a perfect wing, the sauce and the skin become one; it will be bright orange, but if you run your finger over it, very little sauce will come off. In fact, in Buffalo, people order their wings "crisp and dry" -- this means well drained, so the wings aren't swimming in sauce (again, loses crispness). Only the Anchor Bar serves them drowning, and the fact is most Buffalonians don't like Anchor Bar wings that much. Also lso, NEVER bread a Buffalo wing. In fact, don't add garlic powder, chile powder, or other "extras". These things almost all ahdere to the skin in a way that makes it go soggy. And breading is just morally wrong. A Buffalo wing is all about the crisp and spicy skin of the chicken. Two things have changed in 20 years. First, Franks Hot Sauce, which was bought by Durkee years ago, is just not as spicy as it used to be (and neither is Tabasco for that matter). Chalk it up to homogenization. I've found you need to add some neutral habanero sauce to get a really hot wing. Just make sure it is not a thick sauce.Second, most wing places outside of Buffalo use miniscule wings. This throws the flavor out of balance -- the wings taste too greasy. Use fairly large wings if you can get them. The rest is easy. Cut the wings into two peices. Throw out the wing tip. Toss a handful into a deep fryer (don't crowd them) for 12-14 minutes. While they are cooking, melt a few tablespoons of margarine. Dump it in a big bowl. Add Franks Hot Sauce or hotter similar sauces to taste. (For extra hot, some places use no margarine, but I find a little promotes a good seal on the skin -- it seems the vinegar in hot sauce alone causes sogginess). Mix the hot sauce and margarine. When the wings are cooked, drain them, and dump into bowl. Stirl and Swirl with slotted spoon, then lift the wings to the edge of bowl, allowing excess sauce to drain off. Plate. Save the remaining hot sauce for the next batch of wings out of the fryer, and replenish as necessary. For traditional style Buffalo Wings, I agree that it's all about frying the wings up to just that perfect deep golden brown crispiness without any breading of any type. If they are cooked right they are crisp on the outside and juicy inside. If they have shrunk about 40% they are about right. The sauce should be just the hot sauce with maybe a tiny bit of butter. Garlic, soy, and all my other favv normal food add ins just don't do good wings up right and in this case simplicity is the way to go. You toss the cooked wings right from the fryer into an empty pot or covered container, pour over the hot sauce, add the splat of butter, put on the lid and shake and toss gently for two minutes. There should only be a tiny bit of sauce in the bottom of the pot and the rest should be a thin layer that has cooked onto and into the wings. Then of course some decent blue cheese dressing on the side and some celery for crunch and to meld with the vinegary burn. If folks need their wings wet then you can always put the excess drained into a bowl for them to dip I find that Trappey's Red Devil Louisiana Hot Sauce has more flavor, heat, and that vinegary tang than Frank's / Durkee's. They come out nicely hot n spicy with that tang that is soooo good. For the past 15+ years this has been my wing sauce and no others just do the job.

Harry’s Patio setup at Landstowne was the tits.

Saint’s has the best patio in St Matthews but their smoked wings are undercooked trash. They lost their original wing cook to Momma’s.

-BWs isn't a sports bar it's a depressed loser bar.

-Laura Linney does nothing for me.

-I might have to try my hand at some BGE wings again this weekend but I might F'n not also. We'll see.

-Not in the mood for any of your all's **** today tbh.

BWs changed food vendors way back when I worked there. I stopped going there and eating there period because of it.

We were getting good sized wings and the first time the new vendor delivered they were baby sized nothings. Total BS, and since wings had gone from .25 to .50(at that time) the manager was happy to get back to setting record food numbers.

F that, as expediter 6 became 8, 12 became 16 so on and so on.

Managers be stupid!

- The only good thing that has come out of B-Dubs the past few years is that you can buy Asian Zing in bottles at Kroger(s). Love that stuff, use it in home Asian dishes when/if I'm out of Lao Gan Ma.

- Have only listened to ACB while driving my dad around yesterday for DR appointments in his car. Goodness gracious she's sharp with her responses. Didn't matter which senator was giving speeches questioning her, she was thoughtful, consistent, and easy to understand.

- Potato skins were my adolescent go-to on apps. No longer see the appeal. A plate of nachos always does the trick. Hard to mess those up.

- Bizarre to see Iowa getting so much preseason CBB ranking love, but I get it. They can't defend, but Garza is about as sure-thing as it gets this coming season. Just put the guy down for 20/10 and hope their shooters don't get too hot.

- Still haven't heard McGrath explain why "Mitch has been there TOO LONG", but Biden needs to be President, even though he's been in D.C. longer.

- One of these days I'm gonna have my life together enough to dress like SAE or Richie on a crisp fall Saturday and look *fire emoji* at my kid's XC meet, trip to the pumpkin patch, etc. But until then, it's probably just gonna be a hoodie/visor/ill-fitting jeans look for ol' KL.

Rando’s

-Nothing funny has ever come out of a RIP thread but bless their hearts they’re still trying.

-Cheap wings and cold draft beer is Amurica.

-Might just pull a JCrow and sell all my worldly possessions and travel the byways of the country; having adventures like Caine on Kung-Fu.

-Usually about now we’d all be getting hyped up for Big Blue Madness. But bupkis. Just feels weird right now with how last season ended, the uncertainty of everything still as far schedules go. Who is even on the touching team at this point?

-Think UT is going to roll us. Think everyone but Vandy is going to roll us right now. Just not real high on the Cayuts.

-Ordered “The Baron and the Bear” last night. Excited to read about the 66 season and both Kentucky and Texas Western leading up to “that game” and add it to the old basketball library.

-Mute, camera off and don’t bother me until after 12. Thanks.

I haven't found a great wing joint in the Loveland area yet.

Anth is right about Nat's. I had some good smoked wings on Broadway in Nashville but I can't remember where or if they were really that good or if I was just so drunk.

My go to's in NKY are Knuk-N-Futz in Taylor Mill or Midway in Ft. Thomas. Both excellent.

Wild Mike's on the west side of Cincy is my all-time fav.

Had some great wings up in Syracuse one time. That was the only good thing about that godforsaken pit.

I haven't smoked any wings on the Camp Chef Woodwind yet. Might throw some on this weekend. When I used to smoke them on the old Smoky Mountain, I'd finish them in an air fryer to get that crispy skin. I don't think I'll need to do that on the Woodwind. We shall see.

Have to admit, I lived at the original Springhurst BW’s location. Literally from the preopening invite til 2006 when I moved from Lou. We were there a good 5 nights a week. Knew the bartenders well and we drank on the cheap for yrs.

I go to Nat’s for the smoked wings. I stay for the waffle fries. I leave after an ill advised but delicious last call order of hanky panky.

"Ice cold draft" doesn't change the fact that the "domestos" still pretty much suck.

Getting pumped on my IPA's w/ a smile and knowing I have excellent taste.
