Is Bruce Pearl Trying To Stop Sarr

I honestly don't think it's that serious for UK. We actually have the power here. If SEC rules him ineligible for the year, we just don't play SEC games in an already weird season. We can stick to non conference bubbles. Most leagues would be happy to let us join their bubbles. Then, after the season ends, we don't have to share any money we get from the tournament with the league. The SEC already lost buttloads of cash after canceling last season. FB revenue is going to be way down since fans are limited. Are they really eager to piss of their cash cow in basketball? Imagine what the SEC tournament would look like without KY fans in attendance or watching on TV....

I imagine the SEC would have something to say about it since we get such a big slice of the pie in football. You cant say FU in one sport and take the money in another.

What money do we take from them in Football? We might get a little to trickle down from the FBS championship if an SEC team wins. We have to share our bowl game winnings too though. So it would be close to a wash.

Cue the “Bruce loves UK”, “Pearl should be our next coach”. “Bruce is just a great guys”.

Oh we have to wait until the day before and the day after we play.... when he blows all the sunshine up your girly skirts. And it gets kinda tingly

SEC Network plus all of the other contracts struck by the SEC is where the Cash comes from.
Only the Big 10 (I think) pays out more than the SEC.

I really don’t think we will get to see Sarr play this year!! The hate is real deep for our program, and if you wanna find out just do a an anonymous interview with sec coaches.
I remember the comments about Hagans being straight up trash.
I cringe when some of you Pearl lovers talk about how good of a coach he is.
He is one of the biggest flop teachers in the game, and acted like an idiot last time we played at Auburn.

As much as I love the idea of sticking it to the SEC, I just don't see it happening to that extent. I think the most you'd see is us just not play SARR in SEC games. Just don't think it's a good idea for Kentucky to make MORE enemies. You know we'd get screwed in seeding if we never played conference games.

My thought.. what can the SEC do if we play Sarr? In the NCAA's case, they would take away wins if we played an ineligible player, but what about at the conference level? IDK about anyone else, but I could give two ***** about winning the SECT, if it means having a cohesive team for the 6 games that matter in March.

Its a lot from football.

The SEC has always split the payouts evenly amongst all members. We are talking TV money, Bowl Games, etc.

First, it is not confirmed that it is Pearl being the obstacle. It's a maybe. But, typical of the internet, let's just conclude it is......

Did anyone listen to the comments Pearl made? He never said he was against a transfer. Instead, he shared that many who transfer versus sticking it out don't do as well and thinks that a kid should stay.

No matter if it were Pearl, or another SEC coach (and there are several suspects including someone at Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee), their opinion should have zero influence with the SEC. If the NCAA approved, the SEC should be ashamed of allowing any further delay to clear Sarr. Pearl said in that recording he didn't agree with transferiring for the outcome of the recruit but he never said it was illegal, or that a rule existed against it.

I'd just play him in the SEC games anyways and let the league award the win to the opponent. The NCAA is still going to see our true record and let us in and it keeps Sarr in game shape and mentality. It also puts on display how ignorant and vindictive the SEC would be acting.

Yes, exactly. But, I guess the NCAA can see that as 18 SEC losses? I'm not sure the pollsters will "count" those as wins. They might be able to screw us that way.

There has to be a way to make that work. That's all I want, Sarr playing meaningful basketball with the team, to get prepped for the tournament. That's really THE goal here.

So I guess, we find out what happens if we play Sarr in SEC games. If that doesn't work, then pad as many non-conf games as we can. I'm sure plenty of teams would sign up to play us.

Fine. Pearl has an opportunity to come out and say it WASN'T him, then. Let's see if he shows out.

I don't trust the NCAA either, but since they cleared him I'd hope they would reflect the accurate record and it would be the SEC that Seeds us last in the SEC Tournament and then we "lose" in the first round.

I think it'll all be moot and the SEC will do the right thing as a whole.

The SEC seemed to have no problem handing LSU the conference title a couple of seasons ago despite half the team and the full coaching staff being ineligible in some form or fashion *and* them beating us on a call so terrible that it fostered a rule change.

I think we could probably play Sarr and unless it upset Nick Saban, we'd be good to go.

Pearl was basically saying he doesn't like when players transfer after a new coach is hired. Just him sticking up for the coaching community. These comments were in May, not recent. What a ******** article of made up conspiracy nonsense to get clicks.

Why, because a homer UK site said it might be him with no evidence? HE doesn't need to do prove anything to A Sea of Blue or any of us. Some of you people are delusional. Why would he comment on it at all?

Bruce, Bruce, Bruce.... slimy, fake, dirty Bruce. He has proven he is a two faced, cheat, win at ANY cost person and coach. Never wanted him and hopefully this type behavior will clarify to some why so many do not want him or respect him. Does he know basketball? Yes. Does he have energy? Yes. Does he lack character, integrity and principles? Yes, yes and YES!

He's as fake as Denim Vest if not more so.

While you might only be half serious, you’re potentially taking a bigger gamble than you might realize by playing Sarr after the conference has said he isn’t eligible.

The SEC has the power and authority to effectively nuke UK’s athletics department. Not sure how far the conference would actually go in punishing UK, but they have the ability to:
  • Withhold all TV revenues (about $45M this year and maybe 30% of UK’s revenue)
  • Impose any additional fines they deem appropriate
  • Prohibit UK from participating in all post season events, including the NCAA tournament
  • Suspend UK from participating in regular season conference competition
  • Indefinitely suspend UK’s conference membership
  • Terminate UK’s conference membership permanently
These types of penalties would have devastating consequences, so any action that the conference would view as open defiance of SEC rules likely carries a high level of risk.

Pearl is such a slime. Can't believe some on this board would want him when Cal is ready to retire.

Where did you hear that it was one coach opposing? If it's a Sea of Blue of KSR or the like then I wouldn't call that a reputable source. Now if you find it on a non UK site that's adifferent story.

But I thought someone on here said that none of the SEC to SEC transfers had been approved yet?
