That's fine. Public record and all.

Not to get too deep, but that night may have saved me. After my Dad and Mom died within a year of each other, I was going down hill. It culminated after an alumni golf scramble that was the 1st one since Coach died. Reminder, this man was like a 2nd father while if was in school.

We were out. I had a few too many and decided my house was close enough to drive. Big mistake? Obviously. Have I 100% learned from that mistake? Yes. Took the opportunity to see what was great in my like and put the self pity behind me. I still mourn, but not in a destructive way.

There you have it.

Dang now they are saying those in the suites at Uk football games don’t have to wear a mask because suites have some sort of air filtration system, but those sitting outside will be required to wear a mask... crazy stuff but not surprised.

I see a lot of sports media pointing at the low KY Derby TV ratings to justify low ratings in other sports. Something about horses can't protest, etc..

I counter with it's not the protests but the entire production/telecast talking politics that is driving the low ratings. I can only assume the NBC broadcast did for 5+ hours since I didn't watch it.

I’ve not “watched” many games of late, but sports have been on my TV since they came back on.

It appears very few did watch.

The ratings were likely low because of the time of year/people forgetting and not politics. That isn't the case with other sports. The sports media seems like they are pushing the others aren't down because of politics and using the derby ratings to justify that.

To me, whatever yesterday was, wasn't Derby. I watched 15-20 minutes up to the race and the race and that's it. Labor Day weekend, no crowds, no spectacle, no debauchery, no celebrities, no week-long leadup of events, etc. Yesterday was just a horse race and nothing more. That's why ratings sucked.

I'm frankly surprised the ratings were as high as they were. 2nd race of the crown, Labor Day weekend, no fans... c'mon.

Regarding wokeness hurting other sports, if you're hearing that's a reason AND ratings are down 40%, shouldn't you pull out all the stops to get as many people back as possible?

I watched the derby coverage from 1 until it was over. It was a semi-social event with my family so I get that Chief can’t understand that.

I didn’t notice any politics.

I think Chief is the one with the problem pushing politics. I’ve had you on ignore for over a year and I regret clicking the ignored comments. Is this all you do anymore in this thread is being up politics?

I didn't watch the Derby because I just assumed it would make me sad to watch it over Labor Day without all of the normal things that make the Derby special.

I am going to watch BYU v. Navy tonight like it is a UK NCAA tournament game. I have been focused on the SEC schedule and I haven't turned on ESPU except to watch NBA games on mute since March. I had no idea that other college teams were playing football until I saw it mentioned in GYERO.

The wife and I rented a cabin the Gorge for Labor Day weekend. I'm pumped to grill out and drink beer, watch some pigskin, get in the hot tub under a canopy of stars, have some hotel/cabin sex, then sleep like a baby on Labor Day. That's the first thing that has sounded halfway normal in a long damn time.

Getting a cabin for a long weekend is a pro move, imo. It is more relaxing to me to put some groceries in the truck with the dog and the missus, drive an hour or so from Lexington, and stay in a luxury cabin for half the price of a beach trip. Also a lot easier to pull off on short notice when one of us needs a break, etc., too. The only downside is there aren't any restaurants or bars out here but that's pretty inapplicable right now anyway.

Maybe Chief is just watching different sporting events than the rest of us. The sports I’m watching have been great athletic contests focused around the game and the competition.

If you want to drown yourself in the headlines and social media commentary, have at it. The actual sports have been the same as always.

We did a gender reveal but it was just for our current kids. We had my 8yo pitch a baseball to my oldest, who crushed it with blistering force to announce that our 4th child will be another monster boy, due in February. No wildfires but I am still picking up pieces of that ball in the yard. Thanks for all the kind words and congratulations.
