Do you guys engineer heavy timber / post and beam stuff in house? I have a little commission for a 30’ x 42’ garage and I don’t want to do the calcs myself or engage an SE as a consultant if I don’t have to.

Also, how is your company’s working relationship with the Amish, any long-standing feuds to be aware of?

I do LVL beam Calc’s personally for my builders. I do not design timber frame builds, but I do have people/vendors I can source it out to.

We usually only offer framing labor in commercial “installs” and to track builders so if you want us to frame it we probably would not do that.

However, our best crew that we use is Amish and is currently working on a Hotel we landed and then is moving to the hotel I landed in Bardstown if the site is reopened and ready.

Not sure that helps you but a few of these dudes have my contact info and you are more than welcome to reach out and if I can help, I will.

This Athlete A documentary about USA Gymnastics and Larry Nassar is infuriating.

So many red flags. So many could have helped stopped it.

Some of the “internal” techniques are not completely without science...but without wearing gloves, a female chaperone, and informing the patient and parents about what you are doing, it’s indefensible.

Thanks for the reply. I asked the rep up here and he didn’t know for sure, but told me to draw it up and “send it to corporate” to see if they’d do it. (I took that to mean they wouldn’t, so I just wanted to check with you.)

The owner already has an Amish crew lined up, I’ll ask them first and then grab an engineer friend to do it if they don’t have a rec. Thanks again!

Ok so we can send things to corporate in PA, and they do designs for kitchens, decks and even houses.

I will call tomorrow and see if someone can timber frame, but besides that I have a group that I have that can design it, and I ship across the nation using local stores.

The Amish are taking over the retail home improvement industry. I’ve had two good friends have them do stuff this spring. And they did it well and on time. Were from Carlise. Didn’t think twice about driving up to Pendleton Co to do the work.

They appear to be the anti-hillbilly solution to all home improvement projects. Honest, hardworking, on time. The opposite of your redneck ******** who has historically done these things.

I've always heard the Amish get away with some shady breaks when it comes to taxes - and therefore they have a built in cost advantage when it comes to farming. Is that true when it comes to home improvement as well?

Had some Caymus Special Reserve tonight helping John Rollins celebrate his birthday. Good stuff.

Learned that Ben Curtis has given up golf, he wasn't very good anyway but has a major, and started a wine label called Fairways and Vines. Not sure if it is the KY area yet but give it a try.

I’ve used the term Post Natal Abortion quite often for many years Bernie. It has a variety of uses!

Parents had an Amish guy referred just outside Sullivan,Ky. I went there picked him up, drove him to Evansville to measure a large kitchen for handmade cabinets then took him home. Repeated the process a week later with a Uhaul at sunrise and the job was installed just by him and he was home by 6pm. It was less than half the lowest bid and the cabinets were so well built they put the others to shame.

Dr. offered me 2 new ways for my treatment. One was utilizing a port and the other is Rinvog. Hard pass on 2 options that are worse. Getting old sucks so get WOKE, Protest and burn down all the medical stuff before you get killed by Big Pharma.

Somewhere in heaven, Rogers and Hammerstein are writing their latest, post-apocalyptic America musical: Le Miserable 2020 ...

“w
here improbable love is found between an Amish retail home improvement mogul and a sassy, well-intentioned Antifa girl as the last remaining Human Tribes struggle in a symbolic race to tear down and discount-rebuild Historical statues. Hi jinx ensues.”

I've thought about starting an Amish housecleaning service. Just hire a driver and drop off a couple of Amish ladies to people's houses and two hours later I guarantee the place will be cleaner than it has ever been.

Who wouldn't want a good Amish cleaning crew spit-shining the house?

* I have a bad feeling that we won't see college sports in 2020 and that it might be death knell for college basketball as we know it.

My only hope is that SEC football is so gangster that it will not let some stupid virus ruin it. COVID might also be the thing that causes the major conferences to leave the NCAA. Other than the NCAA basketball tournament, I don't see anything the NCAA offers that conferences can't do on their own (especially in football). Plus the NCAA is a corrupt and stupid organization.

* Three days after the primary, we still don't know if Booker or McGrath won. It doesn't matter because Darth Mitch will crush all that come before him but our state really needs to get its act together. Maybe mail-in ballots weren't such a great idea.

* Did UKO ever admit whatever he was wrong about? I am assuming not.

* Kooky -- glad to hear there appear to be no lasting effects of COVID in your case.

* Speaking of, I'm not really sure I would want my sense of smell back. Other than potentially saving me from a gas leak, I'm not sure what the advantage is. My wife has a nose like a bloodhound and is constantly driving me insane by running around the house asking if I smell things or asking if the dog farted or lighting fruity candles. Seems like a bum deal.

* I really want to see what Belichick does without Brady and what Brady does without Belichik. That's fascinating. The two probable GOATs at their spot going their own way late in life. That's the kind of drama that makes sports great.

I thought that all County Clerks agreed to release the ballots on next Tuesday and not trickle them out? You only have the in person voting numbers and I don’t think those are official to be honest.

I’m talking about football you idiots.
My bad. Used to seeing polls showing Louisville (the city) crushing the city you live a river over from yet claim as your own.

Again, my apologies.

Now that we are speaking the same language, I have no clue. It makes zero sense. The only reason could be SCOTT turned them around in season 1 so YOU CAN ONLY IMAGINE what season 2 will be like.

Never mind he took over a talented team that 100% quit on Petrino. Never mind that same team he turned around got smoked by a one dimensional UK offense.

Facts don't matter. It's the pollsters personal truths that are more important.

Louisville's saving grace is the ACC and I was a little surprised at their record last year but like others have said that team quit on Petrino and Petrino quit on them. They had nowhere to go but up. His final season may have exceeded some of the worst UK football seasons and that's saying a lot. I think this year, they take a step back, the recruiting is very mediocre but I think attrition from the 18 or whatever players it was that bailed during and after the Petrino season is almost like an NCAA penalty and catches up with them, too. That's basically an entire recruiting class taken away. Based on head to head and any other data, no way is that a better team than UK.

* Ben Curtis is one of the more obscure major champions of all time. He hasn't won in 8 years, and his Open Championship breakthrough was 17 years ago. He was barely even playing on the tour, and hasn't been ranked in the top 500 in like 5 years.

In 2015 Curtis played a partial schedule on the PGA Tour with little success. He played 14 events and only made the cut three times, with his best finish a tie for 29th at the Sanderson Farms Championship. With a finish well outside 150th, Curtis played the 2015–16 season with only past champion status. He only played five events during the 2016 season, missing the cut in all but one tournament.

But hey, leave it to UKO to pull a smokeypearl and drop some meaningless stat attempting to contradict what's a very well known, widely held belief. Ben Curtis isn't very good.

Mac in Tap. Awful...and I'm fat.

One of the more disgusting food items I ever saw was a queso fountain. Just lumpy cheese churning while kids double dipped their chips in the rain of cheese.

From KSR today...

Former Kentucky guard Dominique Hawkins is headed to Slovakia to continue his professional basketball career.

Early this morning, Eurobasket.com broke he news that Hawkins has signed with BKM Lucenec in the SBL.

“BKM Lucenec (SBL) tabbed 26-year old American point guard Dominique Hawkins,” the report reads. “He played most recently at Ehingen in German ProA. In 16 games he averaged 7.1ppg, 1.5rpg and 2.1apg last season. Hawkins also spent pre-season at Valur (Dominos League) in Icelandic league.

“He is a very experienced player. Hawkins has played also professionally in Denmark (Horsens IC), Estonia (Rapla), Latvia and The Basketball Tournament (Bluegrass Boys).

“Among many awards his team made it to the Estonian League Semifinals in 2018. Hawkins received also Eurobasket.com All-Estonian League 1st Team award in 2018.”

If you're keeping score at home:

- Slovakia
- Germany
- Iceland
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Latvia

And this is from a guy who barely even played at Kentucky. These stories aren't told nearly often enough. The rest of us "normal" students got some ****** $32,000/year job at Enterprise Rent-a-Car, and Hawkins is touring around Europe like a rich kid on a backpacking expedition. And presumably getting paid reasonably well to do it. What a life.

4 wins inc. a major on the tour isn't very good? Fowler has.....5. And no majors.

Curtis will have a Claret Jug on his mantle forever...that pretty much sticks your post up your ***.

I take it back. Ben Curtis is better than Rickie Fowler.

Well, you are the only one who has said that. Regardless...player A with 4 wins inc. a British, and player B with 5 wins.....player A is chosen every day in terms of a career model.

There are countless examples of PGA golfers w/ a 2-3 line resume' of accomplishments that inc. a major...sure, maybe they wanted to have an encyclopedia like Tiger, but they wouldn't give back what they earned. As BBdk stated yesterday...the guy who went straight fire at his course is better than anyone we have played with for the most part, but still can't crack the big time on a regular basis. Those guys are the best. Period. And to win...and then a major.

You're a dipshit.
