Hmmm - how will he get eligible to play immediately? NCAA - Care to weigh in?
I get he should not be eligible - just seems odd. Was ready to jump to NBA - but now content to sit a year? I'd watch this story....

The article says he will have to sit out a year, I guess we shall see. Few is going to win a title at some point....
I don't think they need him eligible. They just signed a top-10 PG, Jalen Suggs.
I think it will be very difficult for Few to ever win a title. When you play in a crap league it simply doesn't prepare you for playing 6 games against quality opponents in a row. Yes, they have come close once or twice, but you have to have experience against all different variety of good teams to make it. I don't see them ever having that.
Didn't Suggs sign one of the G-League contracts? If so, definite hardship waiver clearance for Nembhard. Because, you know, stuff.
Few changed his recruiting strategy drastically over the past 5 years or so and it had paid off. International players, a 5 star here and there and really good transfers is a great nucleus.
Since no top seeded team plays 6 games against quality opponents in the tournament i think Gonzaga will be ok with playing the 3 or possibly 4 games it will require.

There was some concern early in his recruitment that he would choose a pro route, but he changed course and locked in on college.
Gonzaga is also in a different place in recent years than they were prior. They'd been good with very good years, but they've evolved into a consistent power team. They had 5 straight sweet 16s with 3 elite 8s and a national runner up, and were going into this March as a 1 seed if the tournament happened. They used to be an overachieving mid major, you can't compare this Gonzaga to the Gonzaga of the previous 15 years.

Hes going win one .. he gets a 1 seed and a easy path gift every year... 1) Good coach 2) getting very high end talent 3) plays in that conference where winning 90% is a given , and gets a 1 seed every year so he doesnt have to face tougher teams early .
He ain't sitting out nothing . Like everyone else he will get a waiver ( if he wants it ) . Now maybe he doesn't want to fight Suggs for time and he does sit out but he doesn't HAVE to sit out . Sorta like Toppin here . He can play and get a waiver if he wants but he might see his path better thru sitting out and getting better. IF Zags have him and Suggs ready then they are our main competition along with Nova IMO .
Seems like a really good fit. Gonzaga is going to be tough this year, maybe more so than the past few years and that is saying something.
Gonzaga was already loaded up front, now their backcourt gets a boost. If Nembhard is eligible, they should be preseason #1.
If Petrosev comes back, which he should, they will be #1 anyway, with Nembhard or without.
Few won't win a title at Gonzaga. As someone pointed out. His teams simply won't ever be prepared for six tough games in a row.
I also don't see any other league ever letting them in to embarrass them so they're stuck. They also don't play football. I would love if they could join the big East but travel makes that basically impossible
If they get a 1 seed most years because they play a crap schedule, then they won't have to play 6 tough games. More like 4 or 5 tough games because the first round is basically a bye.
I think the decision to play for Few at Gonzaga was a really smart move by the dude. If the Zags has a national top point guard coming in to play this season, may need to really play well early in the season or will find his minutes start to go down with the freshman learning to play at the college level.
It was no suprise, he almost went there out of high school.
It’s them or Nova. I give Nova a slight edge right now. I have much more respect for Wright as a coach than Few.
But add another talent like Nembhard, and they move slightly ahead.
I would be shocked if they aren’t both 1 seeds. WCC is crap and the Big East is down this year outside of Nova and Creighton.
Did Florida have a scholarship for Nembhard? I might have him confused with someone else, but thought they filled their limit thinking Nembhard was going pro. I think the NCAA will give almost everyone a waiver this year, but would that almost guarantee it for Nembhard?
Florida added Castleton, meaning it had one scholly remaining - with Nembhard and Mann still making decisions.
That said, Florida knew Andrew wasn’t coming back. And it was probably best for everyone that he moved on. The transfer, Appleby, is legit and plays much faster and more aggressively. He was their best pg in practice last season, and will assume the starting spot.
