That “practically done” quote is taken out of context. Not shocking for one of the many terrible instagram fan accounts. Then again, no one reads the actual articles anymore.

Corey does still think Uk is the favorite but insinuating that he said it’s “practically done” is very misleading. In fact, the entire point of the article was to argue that he could end up elsewhere.

I read the whole thing, and you're correct. You're also correct about that account.
Hey, I'm hoping he comes here. But I seem to recall @ralphdaltonfan saying we weren't the lock for him we once were.
Again, I'll take the wait until they're on campus approach.

Absolutely.
Here’s his final quote: I ultimately see the five-star siding with UK, but the door is open for another program to win out.
Evans barely put one toe on the limb.

“It is still a bit early to judge with the 2021 class, but there is one prospect that many assume is practically done for Kentucky and that is Jaden Hardy,” Evans said. “If Hardy were to select any program but Kentucky, it would be one of the bigger surprises in the 2021 cycle. Whenever the Wildcats offered last year, Hardy was put on commitment watch.”

Consensus Top-10 recruit. I’ll take him along with consensus Top-5 recruit Paolo Banchero, & consensus Top-10 recruit Brandon Huntley-Hatfield & consensus Top-15 recruit Skyy Clark. Sounds like another #1 recruiting class.
I posed that same list with Chandler on a post a couple of weeks ago but was told that Skyy was currently 2022 while the other guys are 2021, though technically so is Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. I think BHH is the more likely re-class but would love to have Skyy too.

I think Skyy looks like the better player from what I have seen (compared to Chandler) but Chandler has the Banchero influence. Really interesting recruitments there for us.

With Huntley-Hatfield and Jaden as players that look like may choose Kentucky, it looks like another insanely talented recruiting class that would be tough to beat for the top recruiting class in the country. With those two players, it really shouldn't be too tough for Cal to convince a couple of other highly rated players to join for a shot at the national championship. If you are going to always depend on such talented young players, this is likely the best way to do it. Sign the elite players and not stress about how young of a team you have. It can work and actually bring Cal and Kentucky national titles.

Yea...stick a sophomore in there and look out. Askew/Ware/Fletcher or even Allen....LETS GO

Cal wants to win a title with five Freshmen.

We would just need a solid SF to give us a great all Freshmen starting five.

I have seen Peyton Watson (composite #17) mentioned as a potential recruit.

G Chandler(6’1)
G Hardy(6’5)
F Watson(6’7)
F Huntley-Hatfield(6’9)
F Banchero(6’10)

That might make his dream come true.

I agree, Ralph doesn’t miss too much when it comes to recruiting.

I believe Skyy will be brought in for 2022, he’s just a kid that probably pretty much knows where he wants to go to school.

Give me Hardy, Banchero and three guys from the local YMCA and I'll be content for that class, especially with what we'll likely be returning.

It probably won’t happen, but Chandler, Hardy, Huntley-Hatfield, Banchero, and Diabate look like a typical superstar Cal type team. Long and super athletic with little outside shooting. If BHH can play a big 3 a la Lyles, it would be one heck of a lineup.

BHH and Lyles is actually a pretty decent comparison. Lyles was stronger probably and more skilled in the post but perimeter skills and games are similar. Dontaie Allen or Fletcher may possibly fill that starting “3” role next year.

I don't like line-ups that are playing smallish 4's at the 3, ala Lyles when he was here. I felt like that was our weak link on that 2015 team. I'd much rather have a Darius Miller style player...big enough to occasionally guard someone in the post, but w/ the ball-skills and shot to operate comfortably on the perimeter.

Agreed.

But if those five want to come here and play together, Cal will play them together.

I would prefer three guards/wings with BHH at the 4, and either Banchero (preferably) or Diabate at the 5.

We need a shooter at the 3 spot, IMHO, with that lineup.
