Second hot take of the day: The whole Kentucky voter suppression story going around right now should give you plenty of reason to dismiss or at least question most things spread in the national media and championed by celebrities.
Lol, when you have Matt Jones defending Mitch you know it's bad.

Out of curiosity, are any of you effected in anyway personally with everything going on? What I mean is if your tv and internet hadn’t been working for the last month would you know there were race riots/spike in cases/the world ending? Obviously would’ve known about COVID due to everything shut down but are you guys effected by anything else? I’m not even trying to be snarky I’m just generally curious. Outside of coronavirus my neighborhood and area is completely fine and normal. People are venturing out more, weather has been nice, no rioting, everyone still generally friendly, everything seems perfectly fine. It’s for this reason I just can’t get myself to give a **** about 99% of “news” right now.

Ron again with his "I don't notice much commotion in my small rural farming town, so it must be the same everywhere" take.

Am I directly affected personally? Not really, no. Do I know many people who live and work downtown who are and have been? Absolutely.

Family - kids haven’t been in school since March, and no guidance whatsoever for the fall. Youth sports are still a no go here. My kids are extremely restless.

Work - we are still at reduced pay, and many in our office are terrified to leave their homes (not kidding).

Other than that, things are great and just like normal!

I dont live in a small, rural farming town. I live in one of, if not the biggest suburb in a city of 2.5 million. I work in a farming town that’s a 20 minute commute from my house. Obviously that’s not effected but neither is the area I’m in which is probably larger and more diverse than most of you live in. If I went downtown I for sure would be effected, but I was just honestly wondering if you guys have been effected by rioting and such.

Again, I’m not being snarky. Most of you know my business was severely affected and I was a mess during COVID. But I thought things were getting better for most, but reading this thread it seems it has gotten worse for lots of you?

Business is in the West End but not particularly close to any of the action. Someone shot out the transformer right in front of my building for fun A week ago, lost power for a day.

Other than that it’s been relatively quiet in all seriousness.

K. To answer your question then, YES. I would absolutely be aware of the shitshow going on in my town the last several weeks if my TV and Internet were down.

Pretty selfish POV to say "Well, my personal business and house haven't been destroyed", so it's not really affecting me. Most people care about the places they live as a whole.

-Father's Day social media is an underrated event. Guess because wives are better at posting than dudes but tons of great content over the last 2 days.

-Summer, man. God I love it. Beer just tastes better in the summer. I'm all in on Coors Banquet at this point as my summer beer, cold mug in the freezer, ice crystals in that first sip. Shewboy.

-Unfortunately, tee ball, work, nlr kept me from being able to gambol on horsey all day Saturday. Spent the morning studying up and just never got a chance later to settle in. Tiz looked great though.

-Cade sticking it out at OSU. Lol.

-Addicted to Alone. Rolling through season 2 now.

*Lake weekend was a nice change of scenery. We did get caught out when a storm rolled in which was a complete **** show. We made it back to the marina just before the bottom fell out- and sat and watched the wind blowing boats and people all over the place. One poor bastard was out on one of those little peddle boats and just about had to be rescued.

*Got my annual unbearable sun burn.

*Not a single Jack Johnson song was played

*Played Holston Hills CC yesterday. Sweet Donald Ross course. Played long and with lots of sand. Would recommend the course to anyone in the knoxville area.

*Drank a ton of good bourbon. Blantons pick, Weller antique pick, 2016/9 Four Roses LE bottles, Larceny BP... went at it pretty heavy for the first time in awhile

*I have hardly any inside info on football operations, but we have been working on logistics for potential tailgate setups for different scenarios which I hope is a sign of promise.

*Renter was finally evicted Friday. Presently, the tenants do not know the exact day they are getting evicted so when the sheriff served her the papers it was apparently an absolute scene. I had it re-keyed and locked it all down. The property manager let me know that later in the evening he rode by the lights were on- the AC was running at 62 degrees throughout, and a window in the front was broken out and the doors were unlocked. So they broke back in and were apparently going to just continue to sleep there. I had to call the police and have them come take a report. The officer left a note on the door if they returned- saying the neighbors would be watching the property and he left a definition of "breaking and entering". So things are going pretty well there.

Good news is there's a giant dust cloud that could possibly reach us this weekend that could cover the sky and make it hard to go outside!

Are you personally affected in any way? What I mean is if your phone didn’t work would you know there was property damage/eviction/minor felonies? I’m not trying to be snarky I’m generally curious. Outside of your legal battles and destructive tenants things are mostly fine. People have been venturing out more, weather is nice, everyone is paying their rent perfectly fine.

Dust cloud is all the way from the Sahara. Wild stuff. We also have meth gators again so believe we're down to only locust and fire rain, or did we already have that? I can't remember.

“New Normal” Randoms:

- Does Bud Heavy automatically taste better once you reach 40+?

- We have a new black lab at the house. Theo. 9 week old hellian. I’ve never owned one this young. Our last chocolate lab was 13 weeks old when we got him and he had such a cool demeanor. This one is full of piss (literally) and vinegar. Sometimes raising a pup is harder than an infant. Respect to #dogdad.

- We have a new (to us) vehicle. The old Honda Pilot had 204k so we got a newer model. Good vehicle.

- We have a new couch and loveseat. My son broke the last couch we had doing some sort of wrestling move onto it. Wife has been begging for a new couch for months. Dreams really do come true!

- I’m getting a new set of golf clubs. I’m like CClark. I’ve played more in the last 3-4 weeks than I have in the last 5 years. Still terrible!

#trumpbucks

- Setting new personal records for longer runs. I’m no super runner like Wayne, but getting out of the house for an hour and a half to listen to podcasts/clear your mind is quite therapeutic.

- Had a huge shrimp boil for my dad and father-in-law Saturday. Never disappoints. My dad felt it was necessary to showcase how good he thought the dinner was by reporting to me on his massive bowel movement the following morning. Fairly unexpected.

- I have no idea where we’re going as it pertains to sports. My gut tells me we’re a long way from having the major sports back. Every time it seems like they turn a corner, some other form of red tape emerges. Common sense says there are just too many obstacles to overcome. I guess I’ll just expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised with anything positive.

If you live in Louisville and aren’t somehow affected, then god bless ya!

Me, well:

1- My stepdad has had dementia for 2 years, and now everything that happened with my mom has triggered test to be run and she too has dementia.

Because they both have we had to place them in a home temporarily, and they hate it because Covid has them lock down and can’t have visitors.

We are trying to get them convinced to live with us and instead of paying $4000 a month for private care facility we would sell their house and pay my wife(who currently has worked on dementia unit for 6 years) to care take.

They refuse to agree, and I’m not POA, so fun stuff

- Downtown has been shut down and this time of year is usually awesome to hit the restaurants, parks, and distilleries for bourbon releases.

Well, hardly any of that is happening without reservation or a curbside online order that gets sold out in 2 minutes.

- Also, my bourbon order took forever to fill because Carriers(some) are scared to go through Downtown Louisville in fear they get blocked and are defenseless. So what usually takes 1 week, took 4.

So yes, I’m aware and I barely watch TV, but I’m ate up with this Breona Taylor case.

From our city’s medical director:

“Right now, our fatality rate of known cases of COVID is stubbornly stuck at 7%, so if you are planning an uncontrolled gathering or a party for 100 people, look at that guest list and decide which seven of them you are comfortable with sentencing to death.”

#puke
So I guess COVID-19 has a 100% infection rate per 100 people. Good to know! #science

If you think that is best for them, and seriously want to do it, you should initiate guardianship proceedings. Contact the County Attorney's office and get it set up. With both of them having dementia you'll probably have an emergency guardianship order very quickly. Good luck bub, I know what you're dealing with sucks major ***.

Just wanted to give Ron a quick update on some news he has likely missed - statues of founding fathers/war heroes/Presidents are being defaced or torn down. Meanwhile, statues of communists that killed millions remain untouched. If that doesn't tell you where we are as a country........

I can tell you where we are as a thread.

GARBAGE

I know this is all there is on the news, but maybe let’s consider some other topics. Reading Chief, WWayne and others regurgitate over and over and over and over the same **** is wearing pretty GD thin.

We all know where you stand, we don’t need constant updates.

Covid and politics is destroying this thread. It’s a chore to read and impossible to enjoy anymore. Maybe go f*ck yourselves and die in some fires.

If this post offends you, good, it was meant to.

I know Doc is pretty far right, and he dips in politics every now and then, but he’s not CONSTANTLY talking about it. Take a lesson from Boat, have a coke and relax a bit.

Whew, played golf at Shady Hollow in the Metropolis that is Cub Run, KY. Nice little scenic track that is 64 miles from BG with no easy way to get to it. Absolutely beautiful and about as scenic of a little country course you can find. Three or four groups on the course spread out all day. 3 different rain clusters soaked us, but me and my 3 sons (22,25,29) would have had a great day not matter the weather. Played good enough. Nearly turned a cart over with me riding shotgun. Hilly course, wet grass, bad idea to try and turn sharply on an incline. Jumped out of the cart to keep it, my son, and a cooler of beer from landing on me. Very close call, disaster averted.

#6 - A par 3 165 yards over a 100 foot gorge was gorgeous (no pun intended ) and a nice challenge. 7 wood over the green by about 5 yards. Steep chip down onto the green, two putted for bogey.

#5 - A step up hill up to the hole that was listed at 200 yards, but played 220.
Back to back par 3 holes, you do not see that very often.

#18 par 3 170 yards down hill to an island green is the finishing hole. Stuck a 7 iron withing 12 feet. Missed the birdie putt, par.

Part of the scenery :
5 wild turkeys (no bourbon)
3 turtles in the fairway
8 deer
1 fox
several rabbits
too many squirrels to count
1 groundhog
1 snake

Fathers day:

-slept til ten. Coffee and cheesecake kringle in bed. Fat.

-popped out to the farm to spend a few hours with the old man. Still pretty sharp. I am convinced that staying active/working is key to health as you age. Ive seen too many people decline rapidly as soon as they retire w/ nothing to do.

-rain out for pool time=glorious late afternoon nap.

-grls made flank steak and a nice salad.

-big star and fleet foxes on the turntable.

Gifts: raisinets, reeses mini cups(with reeses pieces inside). A nice bar of lavender soap from the hippy store. Apparently there was a smaller bar of a different variety at one time...but buster the beagle ate it. Planning on buying myself a guitar to account for this injustice.
