-looking to buy an acoustic guitar and a fender jazz bass. Most of my stuff is electric/for "playing out"...need something that i can play/write with quietly. Time to get back into it(feeds the soul) and i have garage band on my ipad. Minus while.

Knowing that you appreciate the finer things in life, take a look at Larrivee acoustics.

There's nothing better for re-charging the mental/emotional batteries.

-trying to stay <$1000, grantbob. What do think about taylor 114e? They can be had used on Reverb for around 600. Last acoustic i owned was a martin 000-something. American made paid slightly under 1k 20 years ago at midwest music in cincy. Im a rockband guy...so i know electric guitars, analog effects and tube amps, but i am a relative neophyte w/acoustics.

-i am gonna unload a highway one hss strat(usa)...and likely a few amps to subsidize the acoustic/jazz bass acquisitions. Sooo...if you know someone.

-Half Day today and then heading to Belle Meade for lunch and patio drinking with a friend. #needed.

-The only flag that should be burned is the Stars and Bars. If you have a problem with that you’re probably a racist moron. TMFS.

-Fathers Day weekend with my Dad and Grandad and my son in Kentucky. Dad got grandad a brand new Honda side by side to tool around on the farm with. I got him an old photograph of us framed and a new Kentucky hat. I got gift envy.

-This whole NBA restarting in Orlando under quarantine rules is either going to be a raging success or a steaming shitacular dumpster fire of epic proportions. No in between.

Really neat that the NBA guys are wearing the https://ouraring.com/ they claim can detect the virus up to 3 days before PCR test. I'm sure Joey has more info on this but I've seen several people indicating this type of wearable is how we can really fight most of our health problems. From early detection through vitals to notifications from contact with infected people.

The Taylor will feel and play great and sound pretty good. But for $600, personally I would spend just a little more and get something better. There are 15 Larrivees on Reverb for $1k or less. I would take any of them over the 114. It's like going from a Blues Jr to a Dr Z or Matchless.

I prefer the tone of similarly priced Martins (Road Series, GPCxxx, DCXxx) to the Taylor 114.

That’s awesome. I didn’t know about that ring, but I’m onboard with its sleep tracking at least. I pay $3/mo to have an app (SleepWatch) track my sleep via watch and give me monthly report cards. (I’m doing bad this month).

Golfers were on Whoop even before this but the sleep part, which is probably the most important, I just can't do. Whatever tracks my sleep would have to be really light weight and not bulky. Not sure I could even sleep with a ring on. Right now I'm just using a Garmin Venu to track daily stuff and all workouts but if they can get that ring technology down, that would be badass until they can just implant us with a chip to monitor health and determine our diet.

What actions has anyone taken when they are told that they are not getting good sleep?

I know someone with a whoop strap and he tells me it knows when he has had drinks because his sleep is always terrible. He drinks anyway.

I like the idea because I like data but it seems like it would just tell me I didn’t get much sleep and I would say, yeah, sounds about right.

The idea of a microchip inside us to monitor our health sounds awesome in theory assuming it works, but GD there will be some serious privacy issues with that.

Microchip detects elevated alcohol/drug levels and notices that you are moving fast enough to be in a car, cops show up, insurance goes up, your social media feed is littered with alcohol ads.

Microchip detects elevated levels of (insert anything)...you get a letter in a week notifying you that your insurance just went up.

If there aren’t extremely strong privacy protections and if the government is given back door access (no boat), it’ll be a hard pass for me.

I have sleep apnea so I use a cpap. Had a sleep study done two years ago and they said it was some of the worst they’d ever seen. Probably don’t use the machine as much as I should, especially after drinking.

Tracking my sleep with an app seems like way too much effort for my lazy ***.

#8 Tiz The Law (6-5)
#1 Tap It To Win (6-1)
#3 Max Player (15-1)

Long Shot to hit the board ($2 across the board bet) Why not, even a show win would clear a profit.

#6 Fore Left (30-1)

May even play a ticket without the heavy favorite. Be a nice little exacta (box) payday.

#1 Tap It To Win (6-1)
#9 Dr. Post (5-1)
#3 max Player (15-1)

That's unreal, and just made my day.

Also, this: :joy:

“I don’t understand why they want us to wear a mic when there’s a boom mic that stands 10 feet away from every shot that I hit,” said Koepka, before dropping the hammer.
“If the announcers would just shut up and listen, you could hear every word that we’re talking about. I don’t understand what the thing is. Half the time the lady’s holding a boom mic, and she’s listening to everything we’re saying all the way down. If they would just shut up, they could hear everything.”

On the flipside, I’m tired of subsidizing Insurance for you fat, alcoholic ******* slobs. So it sounds great, IMO.

I heard that went through yesterday. Hopefully they roll it back at some point. You only have to wear one entering and leaving the premises though. Us lowly barkeeps have to wear them the entire time at work. It’s not fun and we definitely pull them down as soon as we walk away.

I've stayed away from news & social media for a few weeks in an effort to not get caught up in the mayhem. I'll scan headlines but wont open and read the story. I don't know what CHAZ is, no clue about ONA, all I know is I have to wear a mask in Raleigh now. About the extent of my current knowledge of the world.

It's pretty damn relaxing, kinda like NGAF.

But for those that follow MLB what the hell is going on? Are we going to have a season or nay?

So is every member of the sports media a huge *****?

My livelihood essentially depends on a lot of people being on the road (and crashing!) and I hate the fact that traffic is down so much the last few months. Yet these hysterical teenage girls are actively rooting against the activities that allow them to make a living.

"Queasy." Good Lord. What a *****.

Am I missing something or is Georgia completely getting a pass on the Confederate flag ban? Their state flag is literally the original Confederate flag with a seal in the middle of the stars.

Surely it doesn’t have to do with the giant stadium in Atlanta that hosts NCAA events every year.

They changed their flag to that in 2003.

They changed it to this which is the actual first confederate flag, not the battle flag.

Someone needs to figure out how to keep the deli from this place going. The fried chicken gets all the love, and it is the best, but the beer cheese, salads, chili dogs, meatloaf and everything else are great too.

Damn. That is good fried chicken there.

Breakfast from Winchell's today was excellent. Glad they're back open.

I had never heard of Juneteenth until this year. I'm perfectly fine making it a national holiday now that I know what it's about. In fact, I am in favor of more national holidays and requiring most businesses (mine) to be closed on said holidays.
