You know the only thing dumber than the mandate? You. So you tried to enter a 2nd place without a mask this week and were denied again? K. Go buy a f*cking mask and put it in your pocket. The establishments didn't make the rules, they're just trying to scrape by keeping their business open during this stupid time, while following these impossibly stupid recommendations and praying not to be shamed on social media or sued by an employee/client. Be a decent person, help them out by not being a contrarian *****, and just bring the mask with you. They have enough nonsense to deal with right now. Not to mention you notoriously cough and clear your throat.

8 of us went out last night, we all packed a mask just in case, weren't asked once to wear it.

It started on Easter and continued on Mother’s Day but this weekend, this Memorial Day, this is the weekend America just throws its hands up and say “touch it, IDGAF anymore”. The domestos will flow, the air will smell like charcoal and meat, and we will take back our LIBERTY and possibly die.
TO BE CLEAR when I made this post I wasn’t expecting people to be hanging the governor in effigy. Just thought people might grill out.

~Malones...temp checks outside and then seated. Business as usual after that. All of their booths were in use as they have plexiglass between them, and there are obvious tables missing....looked to be around 50% capacity Friday night. Drakes next door was packed.

~Tony's....business as usual including valet. Some tables were missing, but they were busy Sat night.

^^^we wore a mask inside both places and took it off when we were seated. No big deal, Pti.

~Seeing masks on little kids outside at the Farmers Market....c'mon people.

~Gym opens next Monday...can't wait to see how the masksteria is in place there.

~Bacon should be engraved on every weekly grocery list.

~Houston Oaks...course in great condition and cawood and I were second group off after a single....played in 2:50. They have relaxed their cart rules so 2 people can ride together (non family) if you are comfortable.

Forced wearing of cloth masks in a distribution center that isn't climate controlled is a recipe for disaster.

We will need a damn EMT on site.

Steakfest Friday was awesome. Table upstairs at Tony’s, was nice to not have to shout. We crushed it. Seafood tower, oysters, shrimp, crab legs. I killed a bone in filet that was like butter. Great to see the crew.

Worked all weekend, steady but not bad.

Got a ninja indoor grill/air fryer for the boat, did some texmex chicken thighs Saturday and Nashville hot chicken Sunday night...pretty good.

Had some of the wife crew over last night for a Memorial day barbecue. Smoked a pork butt on the Traeger, just magical how tender...although not quite as obnoxious smoke as I’m used to on the egg.

Just completed rewatch of the Sopranos, still one of, if not the best.

So you wore a piece of fabric over your face during the entire 23 seconds it took to walk from the front door to your seat?

Thank you. Thank you for saving lives.

Yes, because I respected their rules to allow me to eat there. Yes, I know it was ridiculous, but it didn't hurt me or anyone else for that 23 seconds. And right now during these opening days/weeks...I will let the maitre d finger swab me in the backside if it means I can get a ribeye and a cocktail at a restaurant.

After venturing to a few places, the only thing I'm sure of on masks is that, when(if?) this all locks down again, both camps will be bitching at the other about their role in the cause of it all. Overreaction? Not taking it serious at all? As with most things, truth's somewhere in between.

Can't believe there are those (not here I hope) that think Rex is "creative" for Tweeting things that he finds. I think "charlatan" is the word they're looking for.

$20 to win on Everlovin Random. Maybe a show bet on Ol' Hongry.

* Evidently Heather Harmon (of IDT.com fame) has made a comeback. Unfortunately, time has not treated her well. Awful hack job on her chest beefers, which are about 4x as big as before. Worn out grill. Pretty disappointing. Should have stayed retired.

* Lost a friend on Friday. Spare the condolences, as he wasn't a bff or anything. An archetype you see a lot in the endurance sports community --> former drug/alcohol addict, lost hundreds of pounds, became accomplished athlete after wholesale lifestyle change.

I got to know this guy really well after meeting him the first time I ever went to Leadville. One of those amazing people who makes a complete 180 transformation, then spent the rest of his life helping others overcome obstacles. Inspired countless people to change their lives. He went in for a fairly routine back surgery, then totally unexpectedly died from complications.

* anth --> I have, indeed, flip flopped on the way I view the COVID-19 world. I was happy to be a fairly early adopter, and took the lockdown very seriously. I think it was the right move at the time, given how little we knew and what we expected. Economic collapse and all, I'm glad we shut down. But in my area in particular, we were absolutely devastated by corona for a month or two.....and now it's damn near gone. Days go by without a single death. Hospitals are empty. This thing is about as defeated as it can get, imho. And yet daily, our mayor is on social media speaking to everyone like they're children....

remember you must stay at least 6 feet apart from others at all times!
this is no time to ease up, you must stay home other than for essential business and quickly visiting the grocery store!
gatherings of more than 10 are still prohibited, so please call 3-1-1 if you see anyone breaking the rules!
you must wear a mask outside your home at all times!
the fight against the invisible enemy isn't over yet. i believe in you, and i know you can do this to continue the battle against covid-19!!

"Who talks s— about someone who won them a championship ..." Lawson wrote in his Instagram story. "(You're) weird... I got messages from 10 NBA GMs that said it came out your mouth ... That's why I don't f— with Carolina or support anything y'all do."

"It's a blessing I don't open my mouth about s—," Lawson continued in a second post. "They ask me why I don't show love to North Carolina ... Roy Williams knows why."

* In case I've forgotten, a special thanks to drxman, one of our HEALTH CARE HEROES. #steak

* Uncut Gems is on Netflix now. Very dark, but great, intense movie. I texted assistbyredass last night that he reminds me of Adam Sandler's character, especially the part where he's hiding in the closet, spying on his mistress, and wacking off.

Welcome to reality. On the back-end of this thing we're really starting to see the damages from a prolonged lock down. Suicide, anxiety, missed cancer diagnosis, mass unemployment, small business gone forever.

Sorry about your buddy, know you loved telling his story. That stinks.

Rando:

Julianne Moore is 59, and turns 60 in December.

Sooo....yeah. The day she turns 60 (12/3), she'll officially be my very first Sixtogenarian (or however the F you say that) that I'm dying to wax. Jesus H Christ, she's aged well.

- Really felt like the first real weekend of the year (if that makes any sense). Grilled out Friday, ladies getting white-wine-hammered, 2 other cookouts over the weekend and a whole lotta porch and adirondack chair sitting.

- First haircut in what seems like forever yesterday. Talked with the lady at my barbershop and she was almost in tears over the impact this has had on her. Tip well if you can.

- Have never been a real big "repair it yourself" or tinkerer kinda guy but have really gotten into it over the last year or so. Massively frustrating but highly rewarding as well.

- When everything gets back to whatever normal looks like, I think professional and college sports might be one of the more highly hit industries going forward. Yeah, there's gonna be huge ratings numbers initially but you never want anyone to see that they can do without you or your product (whether they initially wanted to or not).

-Hard to comprehend what Kentucky tracks lost during lock down but boy am I glad CHD is back. Had a ball all weekend sitting at my desk and horsey gambol with my buds. We're going to clip one of those big ones soon.

-Tony's was awesome Friday. As others have said, just getting out with a group and eating like we did so often was the normalcy the doctor ordered. Crushed a massive ribeye, tons of seafood, was basically miserable full. Closed the night solving the world's problems over a bourbon with bonz. It was glorious.

-Thankfully Summer finally showed up. [smoke]

-Early stages of vacation planning, hopefully when it's convenient for them, they let us know if school starts in July or September. Just take your time though, no rush.

-Magees BLT, after rudd got me craving one.

-Anyone have a strong opinion on fish oil vs krill oil vs green lipped mussel oil?

With modern medicine and anti-aging techniques limit your purview at your own risk IMHO.
That’s a fastball right down Broadway, so I'll just say yes, 100% from a position of knowledge.

+ Realized after trying to be open-minded when it comes to steak and going with a porterhouse Friday night, I'm a filet guy. KISS theory, and whatnot #detroitrockcity.

+ MCT oil in your coffee or smoothie. Omega 3 if you can't get down with that.

+ 18 for the first time this year. Seneca was in great shape. Couple pars and bogeys, a lot more snowmen and lost balls. Whatever, was great being out and about with friends, shotgunning beers and not giving two ***** about anything for four hours.

+ We're late opening up compared to others in our Midwest pact (lulz), but I couldn't imagine being quarantined until June 15th like the folks I work with in the DC area [sick]Can hear how dejected they are in recent conversations, especially this morning with the weather taking a turn. Still doubt that changes how they ultimately judge their leaders.

+ There should be a separate line at stores for those who still write checks, followed immediately by reeducation camp.

+ Needed to have something on the horizon to look forward to, so booked a 5 day beach vacation next month. Airlines and hotels are absolutely begging folks to do so, still waiving cancellation / change fees and with the use of points, essentially paying you to take the trip.

+ Missed having MLB on in the background over the long weekend. If they can't figure out how to be up and running by the 4th both Manfred and Clark should be sent packing.

*Played 36 holes over the weekend, which by comparison I had played 36 holes in the last 18 months. I'm still able to strike the ball decent, but scoring inside 100 yards is comical. By contrast my dad is the opposite. Hardly hits a green but hes got full-on old man short game and seems to get up and down from everywhere.

*Went out to eat last night for the first time since late Feb. Martins BBQ was outdoor seating only, "please wear a mask when in line to order, and when getting up from your table." Easy enough, and with it being outside the tables were spaced 8-10 feet apart already. The bar area is closed which is where they probably do most of their revenue- so that still blows.

*My mother's neighborhood in Middletown had some food trucks come by for the holiday... upon grabbing some ice cream, the guy asked if I would like to leave a gratuity (they weren't letting you sign the tablet) so I said "just put 20 on there" referring to the screen that had options of 10, 15, or 20 percent.... checked online today and that kid put a $20 tip on there. Respect the hustle I guess.

*Brought back a few bottles of booze, Eagle Rare's Keeneland pick, Russel's Reserve store pick, and a Knob Creek 12... My mother also had grabbed me a Woodford Derby bottle with the wrong date on there for a keepsake.

*There wasnt much in-between on Uncut Gems... most thought it was either going to win all the awards, or they thought it was a huge piece of ****.

*I think everyone in Lexington would have guessed The Paddock would be the first bar to come under fire... sure enough...

*HK's overraction to cawood's horse name suggestion was bizarre. I mean the whole damn page was just a bunch of fictional thoroughbred names.
