-who the **** sends their parents to a home and walks away? Some of Y'all know some ****** people...or more than likely are making blanket statements about/judging people of whom you have no idea of their circumstances.

-i have means and time/brother has means and time/sister has time to look after dad(who has means) during a rough patch a few years ago: cancer sandwiched between neck/back surgeries. It was still *incredibly* difficult to balance life in that situation. Thankfully after a few months we convinced dad to let us hire help.

-humility, get some.

When we were kids and my parents upset my sister (for parenting), one of her most cold blooded threats was to put them in a nursing home when they got old...she was like 8.

Lol, so much for not dying alone Anth.

This is unfortunately, one of the things that keeps me up at night- caring for either of my parents when both my sister and I live a few states away. I've thought of moving them down here if it came to that- but then that takes them from the rest of their family too... strange thing to think about.

My father has assured us he plans on "going quick" when the time comes so he wont be a burden.

My mom has Alzheimer's and can't see. My dad has fallen four times in the past year, the last of which resulted in him being found bleeding from the head on the garage floor. While he can still care for her, and is now doing reasonably okay himself, I have spent the past three months praying every day that they both make it through this initial phase of lockdown so that in the event that something happens to one of them(especially if it's my dad), I can safely and comfortably move the other(my mom) into some kind of assisted living, because I don't feel that I have the ability or the expertise to care for her the way she needs to be (and deserves to be).

That's not me locking her up in some deathtrap, that's me trying to do what is best for her. And while I know that many in nursing homes do not receive the attention from family and friends that they should, I don't know a single friend who has had to make that decision and then turned their back and walked away. They visit or call weekly, if not daily. And if I sadly have to move her into such a facility, I will do the same.

I've been paying attention to this carefully ever since my brother died a few years ago, because I know that the decision will lie squarely on my shoulders. So I know exactly which facilities offer the kind of care and staffing that I want and expect. It's sad to say, but I do have a "plan" in the event that something happens.

So I guess what I'm saying to Brandon, Hank, etc., is this...kindly get pumped.

Hang in there buddy.

My granny was in a home the last few years. Mom and my aunt went to see her if not daily than every other day. I’m just glad she passed in January before all this hit. Mom would have been a wreck.

Ol’ granny- as kindhearted and kind as they came. Vaguely resembled Loretta Lynn when she was young. Grew up on a tobacco farm in Bracken County, didn’t make it past ninth grade and married by 16. By the time she passed away, she had both grandchildren and great grandchildren as college grads, living the good life.

^ that’s pretty much my West Virginia grandma’s life. Her goal is to see her great granddaughter graduate from college. She had to sneak behind my grandpa’s back to get her degree at Marshall because he was insecure and thought she’d leave him if she did. He’d hide or throw away her books, throw away her papers, etc, a real piece of work.

He married her at 16 when he was around 24. Different times man, different times.

PS. She left him.

Anth, get G ready. Youth Baseball will be coming back sometime mid to late June. While he won’t be able to swim in a pool, he can at least sit shoulder to shoulder with 10-12 other kids in a dugout this summer. ‍♂️

Gotta wait for Big Blue Banter to spin another 3,000 word soliloquy on the need to commit thousands of dollars on hitting instruction for a 5 year old before he signs the kid up.

I literally saved lives this afternoon. After walking into my local coffee shop, I was asked to comply with local authority and their own rules to wear a mask. Since I didn’t have one, I followed instructions and raised my sweaty running shirt over my face, and kept it in place while waiting for my coffee.

Not all heros wear capes. Some wear sweaty, salt stained running shirts covered in spit and snot over their face to keep from committing mass murder thru contamination.

I’d be okay with PTI getting the Rona due to not wearing a mask. He’s in great shape and it will help build herd immunity which is needed in Louisiana. He is a hero. Good job PTI! Oh, I guess there is a small chance he could die. So if you look at the two possible outcomes from a benefit to society perspective, that’s the textbook definition of a win-win.

If my quality of life deteriorates to the point where a nursing home is the only option, then it's most likely voluntary, permanent check out time for old lb123.

Supposedly, dudes who are youthful enough to still have a functional D can pretty much slay *** left and right in there.

So go ahead and learn to ball room dance and play bridge now. Your 80 year old self will appreciate it later.

Spent a couple weeks working with him and we're good. Elvis leg move gone. Am considering golf lessons though, as I don't know much about it, and he's been wanting to play.

Cant believe you would indulge such a selfish, time consuming activity.

A few years ago, my wife's grandmother passed after having a stroke while having advanced Alzheimer's. My mother-in-law, who was mostly caring for her at the time then had a fall, hit her head badly, and ended up in a "bad" nursing home in Owensboro. The placed was literally a circus of crazy. My wife went and took her out of there and moved her into our home to look after her better than the neglect she was getting.

Fast forward almost 4 years. She's still here and deteriorating everyday in front of our eyes with Lewy Bodies Dementia. It's been rough on my wife. But she's not broken down and made the choice to have others care for her. Everybody has to make the best choice they can for their parents. Our choices aren't any better than anyone else's. We've got a place in mind in Richmond that is so well run and half of what anything in Lexington would cost if we can't handle her anymore. But we apparently haven't gotten there yet. Hope your parents stay safe.

Up at 5 am, cup of coffee, Godzilla tunrt up and the day is on. Lift, Interwebs 45 mins, 12 hour work day, 3-4 beers, hit the pipe, sleep and repeat.

Day # I forgot.

Can not wait for the extra, beautiful, much needed day off.

After almost 18 years got divorced May 1st! Went to law office with Ms. Bradyjames and finished by Zoom. To tangle with the child support judge would have been idiotic. So we agreed on everything.

Yeah, she got more than half my 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. Rookies. I got joint custody and the ability to make a better decision, for myself, at a more mature age. I’ll f’n take it.

Just bought a Kentucky Blue C7. Well, Zion did actually. So I’m half way there if the Rona doesn’t get me. The goal is to make the 2nd half rival 1996 U.K. vs LSU 1st half.

Brady, my BIL is getting fairly heavy into cards (not starting a shop or anything, but doing some eBay stuff) and I was telling him about what you’ve done and got going. I think he’d like to talk with you and maybe pick your brain a bit about it. If you’re on FB shoot me a message if you wouldn’t mind having a conversation with him sometime.

-Can't even imagine the headaches that AD's and pro sports franchises will endure this fall as they decide WHICH fans get to make up the 20-35 percent capacity (or whatever is agreed upon). Would be easier just to say no fans period, a la Bundesliga.

-Of all the sad things I've seen during this pandemic (actual deaths notwithstanding), I think the saddest was driving by Chuck E. Cheese and seeing that they're selling carryout pizzas.

-With no actual games to watch and having exhausted my capacity to watch "classic" games, I've been doing deep dives into the history of sports logos/uniforms. The NHL has been consistently the strongest over the years because they keep it simple (only three jerseys), and the logos have remained relatively unchanged over time. Baseball is a close second. It's hard to judge NBA jerseys because each team has about a half-dozen and the quality varies wildly. But the NFL....man, is there a single team that looks better now than they did in the 80's? MAYBE the Chargers, since they've gone back to powder blue. But that's it.

-I know Kentucky basketball is terrible and Cal sucks and we're never going to make the Final Four again, but I don't know how any fan can read/watch the coverage of Boston/Askew/Clarke working out together and not be optimistic about this season. I think Sarr gets a waiver.

-I'd like to retract half-pumps that I requested for Brandan and Hank. While I stand by my disagreement with their takes, it's been an emotional week and I worded my take too strongly. So get half-pumped, fellas.

Watched all his wins and the Tour very closely in those days. This should be good.

“LANCE,” the new film about his life will air the next two Sundays in the same prime-time slots vacated by “The Last Dance,”

“I’m not going to lie to you,” Lance Armstrong says in ESPN’s new documentary LANCE. “I’m going to tell you my truth.”
