Perhaps the easing of requirements for reclassifying is giving him pause. Wants to see if we get reclassified big.
Or maybe Haarms might like somewhere else instead of UK?This is a possibility.
Could be that Cal has decided he would rather try to get a reclass guy instead of Haarms.
Cal doesn’t like to have more than 11 scholarship guys on his roster and Toppin is number 10.
So Cal might be saving that 11h scholarship for a high profile reclass like Kuminga or Banchero.
I have assumed he wants Haarms as number 11 and that he will use a 12th scholarship for a reclass, but that’s a lot of “mouths to feed” as they say and Cal usually tries to keep his bench short.
Could Haarms be the odd man out now that we have 10 guys on scholarship and the standards have been lowered for incoming guys (which means it’s much easier to reclass)?
I think it’s a possibility.

Harmes would impact our team 10 times more than Banchero, Kuminga or anyone else left. There are no very experienced super shot blockers game changers like Harmes. Would find it hard to believe Cal would think otherwise. The five is open for Harmes, Jackson and Ware are fine players but won't come close to doing what Harmes would for this team. Maybe there is a school or two he hasn't contacted is the reason for the wait. Maybe we are one of them that hasn't gotten the bad news. But I can't believe he is not a super high priority for Cal.This is a possibility.
Or how about another angle: Cal wants to wait for a reclass.

I think I see Haarms thru the window!
kumingaEven Vitale mentions Cal is not done yet.
Last time he touted UK recruiting class it cost Pitino McgradyEven Vitale mentions Cal is not done yet.
if we get kuminga is that the best big 3 in UK history?Haarms, Mintz, and Toppin are all very good role players. Same for Askew, Fletcher, Ware, Allen, Jackson, and Brooks.
We'll have two legitimate consistent studs next year unless we add another reclass.
if we get kuminga is that the best big 3 in UK history?

Sadly, KATs mother passed away and it's not even been a week yet which might have impacted the timing of an announcement to UK.
From what I’ve gathered it’s not looking good at this point. I think we add one more big though that could be better for us before it’s over.
Freshmen wise it would be, IMHO.
I thought I remembered Dave Kersey saying Haarms would commit by this last Friday?

There’s no information over there that isn’t or hasn’t already been discussed here.

This has worried me all along....Cal refuses to promise any playing time to anyone and I’ve wondered if Haarms would sign up for a school if they won’t promise anything and other schools are promising to make him the central focus of the team. What I don't understand if you look at Matt Haarms Top 10 schools most of these schools have at least 1 center returning and a incoming Freshman. Gonzaga is a good example and they are loaded in the Frontcourt for next year. They could possibly have 3-4 Centers and plus have additional two 6'10's in the frontcourt. If you read Purdue's Head Coach Matt Painter's article about Haarms transfer he was surprised about the decision. Matt Painter did say though when he talked to Matt Haarms he said he wanted more playing time. Haarms had averaged 20mpg in his 3 seasons at Purdue. Haarms wanted to be the #1 Center and get 30+ mpg just like Richards did last year getting around 30 minutes a game at UK. I mean now at UK there is no one at Center with both Richards and EJ leaving for the NBA. Matt Haarms should get his 25-30 mpg, get to work with one of the best asst. coach Kenny Payne, the best to get you to the NBA in Coach Cal, and the best school, coaches, and fanbase. This really shouldn't be a difficult decision to make if your wanting the minutes to play Center next season.
