Client/buddy of mine, CB. Awesome, awesome folks. Congrats.

Thanks. Very good people. Had a ton of mutual connections, too. Kentucky folk stick together.

Definitely seems like a good guy to know, too.

Soooo...if anyone wants to buy my house in Germantown that’d be great!

It was funny that back in the day, when true top underclassman left after their junior year, talking heads would bemoan the fact that these guys were missing out on their education. As if anything they could learn in college would provide more value than getting paid 7 figures.

Now, you never hear about the value of the education. Instead, it's about whether staying an extra year improves the player's stock.

I'd like to see the statistics on earnings for players who fall to the second round and beyond. I know the path is to go to Europe, but it's not like they're just handing out 6-figure deals over there for every top 50-150 19-year old basketball player.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like sticking around in a great college environment for four years, getting a degree, and becoming "the man" on a top D1 team would put you in a better position for long-term success in basketball and life than doing whatever the hell EJ is trying to do.

- Went to Napa in early March. The day we returned (March 12) is when it was announced the tournament is cancelled, and everything followed from there. Talk about coming back to a whole new world. Literally. Awesome trip, though.

- Got tired of fighting and left law altogether, started a new job in private banking the Monday after we got back. Was in the office for a few days before everyone got sent home. Since then it's been pretty much nothing but PPP webinar training and teleconferences. Thankful to still be working, at least.

- Previously was in the Office of Legal Services to the Kentucky Department of Revenue and it was my job to review HB 415 (was just reviewing it for tax and Constitutional implications, krazy, didn't get deep into the the operational side so would've been no help to you there). Glad to see the GA got something right.

- My nutritional discipline has pretty much gone out the window, but I've had a decent free weight situation in the basement and have been working out at home for years. Just trying to balance it all out and keep the weight relatively steady for now.

- My love for Bruce Hornsby is well documented here. Welcome to the club, Wildcat Chad (even if it is only one song). Pretty bummed his Lexington concert this summer will likely be postponed. Just hoping it isn't called off altogether.

- I think Trolls was viewed 5 times in a 48-hour rental period at our house but pretty sure Frozen 2 clipped even that mark when it was first released.

- Agree with anth that the new Tiger King "episode" was largely a waste of time. Next to no new information, and though I generally like Joel McHale, he was trying way too hard.

- Finally got on the Narcos Mexico train. Just a wild story, I was somewhat familiar with the real one before starting the show. Production value and acting are top notch.

- 2019 Final Round replay was a solid watch yesterday (before being interrupted by Beshear's conference). The added commentary from Tiger and Nantz was pretty cool.

- Was searching for something to watch after that and landed on this League of Legends esports tournament or whatever on ESPN2 for a few minutes. Putting aside not even knowing what it's about in the first place, I don't see how anyone follows that. It looks like explosions and coding vomited all over the screen.

- It's getting harder by the day to care what anyone is doing. Go. Stay. Transfer. Whatever.

- Top 5 1996 Street Anthems:

1. Gettin' It - Too $hort
2. ATLiens - OutKast
3. California Love - 2Pac & Dre
4. Jazzy Belle - OutKast
5. Bow Down - Westside Connection

Tough list to narrow down, too many HMs to list. ATLiens is the best album of the year, but from the standpoint of a standalone single I'm giving the nod to $hort Dog.

I, too, would like to "get fat and watch my whole crew blow up."

I mean, Cal certainly has his flaws but, to some extent, this is where "college basketball" is. If you recruit any top 50ish players, they're going leave as soon as they think they can "get paid." They don't care about NCAA titles or the college experience. More of the best guys are drifting overseas anyway. The sport as a whole is a wreck and we've seen it decline as we roll our eyes through season by season of AAU-like play.

If the NCAA doesn't start paying players soon, we'll certainly get our wish of kids staying longer when all of the best HS players never set foot on a college campus.
100%, and while I'm in favor of it, the transfer waiver is going to muddy the water even more.

Red Velvet, Cheese, and Hummingbird are all phenomenal cakes. Calipari Cake, not for the faint of heart.

Well Syracuse, UCLA and Oregon each had 2 underclassmen stay in the draft and not even get drafted last year, so... yeah.
Yeah. Several. Darius Bazely skipped college entirely. Louisville just had a JUCO skip out on them. I think something like 30 underclassmen went undrafted last season. This is happening everywhere.

If college, better yet the NCAA, wasn’t so damn stupid kids could have reason to stay.

Even if you don’t change anything the university can do for them besides food/scholarship/housing you can let these kids earn.

There isn’t a reason you can give that says if the local car dealership wants to throw IQ $20,000 for a commercial that he shouldn’t take it. Who knows what they pay our coach!

And as a university sure we may have Nike uniforms, but if a player picks up a shoe deal from another company they should be allowed to wear those shoes! It doesn’t impact the NBA game by any means.

Then if a kid like IQ is making 6 figures while getting a free education he is more likely to make the best decision for himself!

Oh and if you are concerned with the bench riding scrubs, their value is their value so a free education should suffice!

It really shouldn’t be so damn hard as long as the only thing the university hands out is the same.

I don’t care what shady doors this opens, let’s open this door first and find out because college basketball is being ruined without giving it consideration.

There are certain guys like Hagans and Montgomery that you just know are going to leave in a year max two no matter what...I don't even get my hopes up with guys like that.

But, I thought Cal had learned a lesson by getting burnt will a couple surprise early departures and had zeroed in on some multi-year guys that would be 3 and 4 year building blocks. I thought Juzang and IQ were examples of that.

Guess not.

There is a bit of a helpless feeling standing in your living room as it rains *inside* your house. We got spared major storm damage so we were lucky in that regard. But lost some shingles, flashing, and something smacked our chimney cap loose. Finding someone to do the work is always a mad scramble when half the state is looking for the same work.

What i'm trying to say is something good has to happen soon, law of averages and whatnot.

I hate everything, but Coffee with Cal seemed kind of cool.

I just want that mfer to hit the recruiting trail and fire Barbee and Joel.

He's really in his zone doing this sort of charity stuff. I don't exactly blame him for being dead inside when it comes to basketball. I am, too.

He doesn't need to "hit the recruiting trail," for touch sake. We're landing top-2 classes every single f'ing year. What he DOES need to do is "find a way to keep guys around for 2-3 years who are really good college players."

Please try to pay attention.

Collegel basketball - and Kentucky basketball - is just slowly dying. Late second rounders jumping at the chance to not endure the humiliation and agony of playing 3 years at UK. Don’t know if it ls our culture or the basketball culture in general - but it sucks.
Here's another thing I wonder - how in the hell do you replenish your fan base with the sport in this kind of shape? My kids barely give a **** and their kids will give even less of one. And why should they? As soon as they become a fan of a player or particular team, they're gone.

Would Wayne turner have declared after his first or second year here if he played today? Maybe transferred to Fresno State after his freshman year to get more playing time and not get yelled at by Pitino, what do you guys think?

- With the exception of closing on our house, an “essential” (kids’) TV purchase via Target Pick Up, and one trip to pick up wine at Jerry’s Jughouse, we haven’t left our house/neighborhood in 33 days. And our kids haven’t questioned it, yet. The “cover” of moving in has been an awesome distraction.

- I am down a cool 23.4 pounds since March 2nd and I can’t wait to pack ‘em back on this fall.

- With my wife onboard for this 106” projector in the family room with automatic, retractable tapestry accoutrements, etc - I am starting to look for other ways to really push this house into Bond Villain lair territory. Could you imagine???

- Gonna get back into Egg Creams this summer - bigly, as you’d assume.

-You know some school is going to get a recruiting violation because of something done on a Zoom

-I bet the first Saturday in May will be absolutely gorgeous. 82 degrees, 25%RH, postcard sky. I’ll also bet that the first Saturday in September rains like the UK-UL rain OT game.

That is if locusts or plague don’t get us first

Would Jeff Sheppard have even been around for the 1998 season, or does he bolt rather than redshirt in 1997?

-NAIA basketball is where it's at, fellas. The best guys often stay for their senior seasons, none of them have their eye on the league, the refs let them play, no video monitor reviews, etc. Obviously the talent level is on a much lower plane, but the game I went to this season felt/looked like a D-1 game from back when college basketball was actually watchable.

-Doing all the grocery shopping for my folks these days. They make a list, and I add one thing (that I pay for, obviously) to their bag each week. Two weeks ago it was cupcakes, last week it was those Nestle drumsticks. They're in their mid-70's, in failing health, and can't leave the house. Hoping they can find some joy in the "little things" these days.

-The rush to GET THAT MONEY is one thing in college hoops. But these guys who clearly have no path to the league and just bounce from school to school is another....at least 50 percent of it has to be just the adrenaline rush that comes with being recruited again. Their egos just want to be wanted.

-Still three classic CBB games sitting on my DVR....Duke '92, Duke '98, and Kansas '12. And zero desire to watch any of the three. Way more intrigued by the wave of docs on MLB Network, etc. than in reliving classic games.

IF Richards stays (he is not), there is no chance in hell we land Haarms. He stated he "wanted to showcase his post abilities." He is not leaving Purdue to split minutes with EJ and a fan favorite Richards. Not happening.

LOL, Witten went to the Raiders because he was *ucking up the progress of Blake Jarwin. Jerra didn't give a **** about Witten staying, well maybe if he wanted to get into coaching he could stay, but as a player, nope. They felt they "owed" him ONE year coming out of retirement to help the TE situation, but Jarwin has talent, and a hell of a lot younger. The better player NOW.

Was so happy when "Mr. Big Shot" beat Trae Young in the H-O-R-S-E contest yesterday. But nobody mentioned the fact that Trae Young looked like he was playing on a $99 Spalding goal with the rim bent forward. Embarrassing that a millionaire was playing on such a Janky set up. Billups had a full court set up, all painted up, NBA quality rim and backboard, the works really. Even had his two nicknames "Mr. Big Shot" and "Smooth" written on each baseline.

Was a really nice moment sitting and watching LIVE horse racing on NBC Sports. But, a really sad story about the New York "Back Stretch Crew" and not having enough food and essentials.

Three different people had a chance to win the Rainbow Jackpot ($1.3 million). The three tickets for the final race was the #5 (12-1), #9 (25-1, and the #12 (20-1). The #9 horse lost by a nose to the favorite #10 Blazing Desire. Talk about a bad beat. Lost $1.3 million by a nose.

That's going to be true in the NBA, too, with the "superteam" phenomenon. NBA players want to be individual franchises and that works for Lebron, Durant, etc. For SooWeeloliquoy McShitbird who is a middling 6'3 combo guard it is not a great strategy.

If we’re truly a “Players First” program and so many guys around the country are leaving early and not getting drafted, it’s coaching malpractice not to encourage guys like IQ to come back.

This isn’t even about our team or us as fans. Not telling these guys the truth hurts them far more than the current status quo of (apparently) pushing guys to go no matter what.

Cal desperately needed to change his approach years ago, but it’s clearly not going to happen on its own. At this point, a rule change is about the only thing that will force him to adjust.

Two things that absolutely blew me away about that 98 UK-Duke game from a watchability perspective:

(1) The fact that so much of crunch time was played without timeouts (I acknowledge that this was largely because of strategy on Tubby's part). The fact that he was able to resist the urge to micromanage every GD dribble up the court was refreshing.

(2) The fact that the technical on McLeod for forearming Shepherd in the face took about 10 seconds to address and required no huddling by the officiating crew. Can you imagine that happening these days?
