In my opinion, Memphis has always been the destination. Jalen's recruitment was always a sh*t show ... just like the way Penny runs his program; it always made sense. He [Jalen] will get what he wants and do what he wants; Penny will never stop him.

As hard as it may be to understand, sometimes these dudes just want to rock out and get there's; regardless of winning.

Now that I can't tell you right now. Like many have said for some time: if the money is there and the price is right ... they'll take it and make the jump overseas.

But, Memphis will get his verbal next week. Whether he actually lands on campus, I don't know, but it is very similar to the Jay Scrubb situation at Louisville that just occurred.

It just depends if promises are made...

Fans don't win titles unfortunately .

Outside of some people here constantly dogging Pearl, I have had a ton of good conversation here. We should be rooting for fellow SEC teams to improve. I am sick and tired of the SEC being crapped on by the ACC and the B1G in basketball. Even when those conferences are down they get more respect than us. We need to prop each other up, not trash each other every time something good happens.

I get it. Kentucky is the King of SEC basketball. That's not changing in any of our lifetimes. No need to be hostile because one time in 50 tries Auburn may or may not land a recruit you wanted.

Outside of that, as I said before I am happy we are at least pulling our weight in basketball for the last few seasons. Kentucky has carried this conference for years. You guys have the #1 class and represent this conference amazingly EVERY SINGLE YEAR. I hope we can keep this up and we can provide you a quality opponent for years to come. Win or Lose, OOC and when the NCAA starts I am all SEC until we play one another.

Outside of some people here constantly dogging Pearl, I have had a ton of good conversation here. We should be rooting for fellow SEC teams to improve. I am sick and tired of the SEC being crapped on by the ACC and the B1G in basketball. Even when those conferences are down they get more respect than us. We need to prop each other up, not trash each other every time something good happens.

Absolutely; for the life of me I can not understand UK fans pulling for other SEC programs. They are jealous, they hate us, their whole season is based on beating the Cats.

The "SEC" mentality only applies to football, it seems.

Very few SEC fans root for Kentucky to do well in March and the Final Four in my experience.

Maybe some message board fans that represent roughly 1% if that of a fan base? I can't speak for everyone but I root for every SEC team out of conference and in the NCAA's/NIT etc..

I am not going to sit here and claim everyone or even the majority is showing UK respect, but do 100% of the UK fans show everyone respect?

Every time a recruit picks a different school there are numerous UK fans that instantly accuse the school the recruit chose of cheating. Other instantly start bashing the kid. Others say enjoy the NIT and so on.

That's not every UK fan though just like not every fan in the SEC pulls against UK.

What I do is just ignore the obvious trolls or the overly obnoxious fans who lack any sense whatsoever. There are plenty of fans of every program that will sit down and have a good discussion.

Also, regarding envy. I don't know many adults who envy a fan of another college regarding their sports team. I know they exist but again this seems to be an internet thing. I have attended many games @ Rupp over the years and I have never had someone tell me in person that because I was an Auburn fan I didn't have the right to speak basketball to them lol. Seems like something a teenager or young person would do online. I have had great experiences with not only Kentucky fans but fans of many programs.

I will say (and I am biased) that Kentucky fans are among the most respectful and cordial in all of college sports (with the exception of some idiots online).

That being said, I have experiences with LSU, Florida, Tennessee, etc. fans actively rooting against Kentucky in March and the Final Four.

Most notably, I was at the 2014 National Championship game where Kentucky played UCONN. UCONN had beaten Florida in the semi-final game, but thousands of UF fans came to the title game anyways (presumably because they had already bought tickets).

I vividly remember thousands of UF fans rooting LOUDLY against Kentucky, and for UCONN, in the title game.

Made absolutely zero sense to me, and many were nasty.

This has been my experience with SEC basketball fans.

Yeah the SEC doesn't pull for UK in any sport. They put everything into beating us in basketball, and never take us seriously in football. Though they had better start taking us seriously in football.

This is BS. I live in Alabama. Auburn and Bama both have always supported UK in basketball. Especially when everyone else was garbage.

I lived in Birmingham for 6 years in the mid 2000s, and had tons of run-ins with Alabama fans hating on Kentucky basketball for no reason (this was during a period where Alabama was actually pretty good).

There was NO love for Kentucky.

Again, these are my experiences, but they haven't been good. Alabama and Auburn included.

Well I can’t argue that then. My mother was born and raised in Kentucky. She always wears her blue and always received high praises of Pitino/Tubby when I was growing up. I live in Hoover now and the UK fans here like to meet up at BWW for games. Always have great conversations with them. I used to go to other bars a lot during MM (when Auburn was crap, I would go watch y’all) and everyone in there was pulling for UK. Hell, I thought it was abnormal to be quite honest.

Your AU buddy was the one who came here starting crap and beating his chest because Auburn beat UK in the tournament last year. I actually said that Pearl wins with average players and I don't want to think about him having a top 5 class. I agree that the SEC never gets any respect in basketball and some of that may be that the other conferences get the same bias that the SEC does in football. Either way until we earn that respect from top to bottom we will not get it and that starts with teams other than UK and Florida pulling their weight in the tournament.

Pearl wins with good 4 star players that stay 4 years. It's not as easy to make 5 star Freshman talent win at a high level in 1 year.
