What the hell? He was supposed to announce another school yesterday and put it on hold.

I assume this means Duke isn’t getting someone back and/or isn’t landing a recruit they thought they were.

All their bigs are leaving as planned and they aren’t recruiting anyone.

Alan Griffin might have taken his spot at Syracuse. Would think they take both, but guess not.

Carey is definitely gone. No way he goes there to play behind him and fight Williams and Coleman for minutes.

So Duke is looking something like this, at best:

G Roach/Goldwire
G Stanley/Steward
F Moore/Baker
F Johnson/Brakefield
F Tape/Williams/Coleman

Am I missing anyone significant?

I think Stanley might still bolt, but who knows?

Pretty young team (probably older than ours, though). Will rely heavily on Stanley, Moore, and Johnson for scoring.

Good, that means K needs him. If they need him, they're losing more than what's out there right now.

If Cal starts adding fringe guys like Tape, then I'll pause.

Griffin will have to sit out (I guess) but either way, he doesn't play the same position at all. I didn't understand the Syracuse connection at all since they are returning their entire frontcourt from this past year and bringing a redshirt and another freshman big in already.

I think Matthew Hurt is not transferring, but Stanley is entering the draft, so their starting five would be Roach, Moore, Johnson, Hurt, Tape I would think.

weakest duke team in 20 years?

I don't know about that. I immediately thought of the Brandon Ingram team, but they were better than I remembered (25 wins, 4 seed) That '06/07 team was bad though with all underclassman - Paulus, McRoberts, Scheyer and Nelson. I don't think their upcoming team will be that bad.

Hurt still hasn't announced if he is leaving or not. Rumors are that he wants to stay but his camp (friends/family) wants him to pursue other options. If he transfered he would have to sit out a year so that also could be weighing on his mind.

Stanley seems to hint at a possibility of a return in his Twitter account. Kid would be one of those that would benefit from a combine and showing off his natural gifts, but without a combine the door for his return seems to be slightly wider.

If Stanley and Hurt returns then Duke will be in the hunt for a top seed per usual. If one stays and the other leaves then they are a top 10 ceiling type team, if they both leave then I can see this team struggle to score and be a 3 to 4 seed.

Edit
Also reports today says that Duke just opened up another scholarship by taking one of its reserve upcoming senior guard off of scholarship.

I don't see any way Kuminga doesn't end up there next year. If not, they are going to be hurting no matter how much Stanley improves.
