Pitino Finally Tells The Truth!

Rick saved our program and brought us back from obscurity to the top. I loved his style of play and us older guys and gals can remember those 20 and 30 point wins. I believe he will always regret leaving U.K., but I don’t blame him. No one posting on this board would have turned down the money he received, if you had you would have been a fool.

I don’t like what he did going to loserville. To me that was like a slap in the face. I’m not going to judge him for his infidelity’s. Who are we to judge anyone that’s for God to decide. I do blame him for cheating and paying players. He became greedy and tired of losing to Cal. He had it all and lost it all, and will pay for that the rest of his life.

I will always be thankful to him for what he did at U.K. I would never want him back as a coach, because I could never trust him. My feelings about Rick will always be conflicted good coach bad human being.

What other coach has flipped off fans of his former school. Name one. Cal has been treated like dirt at Memphis and IU. He hasn't been stupid enough to treat fans with such disrespect.

I have been bitter at Pitino since he took the UofL job, but at this point, I'm ready to forgive him.

Everything happened like it was suppose to.

We're STILL Kentucky, and he's coaching at Iona.

I'll accept him back into the family if for nothing else, just as a middle finger to UofL.

My feelings too. I didn't blame him for taking the Celtics job. And I didn't have to listen to very many of his radio shows to figure out he was an a-hole. But he was our a-hole and could really coach and score points.

May buy an IONA shirt.

Pitino had the option to go get one of those 2 jobs, never blamed him for that. Id welcome him back in a heartbeat. I dont have a problem seperating Louisville from us. Pitino had an incredible run here.

This is where you keep going wrong, you cant compare Calipari to Pitino. Cal is pure class and the most selfless person in the business. If you compare any coach to Cal he's a terrible person. Pitino isn't a good moral person, but one of the best coaches in your lifetime.

Either youre very young, or too old to have any perspective in life. Not everyone that coaches other schools are terrible, and just because Pitino left us for the Celtics and went to UL, it doesn't make him a terrible coach. Pitino is one of the best at his job, but your extreme fandom won't allow it. Let it go.

Great Coach absolutely POS human being definitely. I worked under one of All Time greats Adolph Rupp Pitino couldn’t carry his jock. anything else Jaybirds fan ?

Yeah it’s a matter of separating the great coach versus a slimy character. The Pitino years to me were the most fun games to watch I’ve ever seen, and he definitely knew/knows how to coach. He is one of the best. Would I want him back here as a coach knowing his past? No.

So I’m back to a Kansas fan, not a Card fan? Your intelligence is showing. Just because someone hopes Pitino gets back into college coaching and believes he’s a top hall of fame coach does not make them a rival fan. Get some perspective in life, not everyone has blue tinted goggles.

Admitting when you are wrong is an incredibly hard thing to do. It's why the world is in such terrible shape today; we have too many people who want so much to believe in something that they continue to ignore facts rather than consider that they might have initially been wrong about something.

Everyone makes mistakes. It just takes some longer than others to realize that and learn from it. If that's what's happening here with Pitino -- admitting he should have been fired at UL, acknowledging he should have never left UK -- then good for him. Maybe he's finally taming his massive ego; if so, it's an example others would do well to follow.

I prefer both. Someone like Cal. UK doesn't need to take a hit to our image by rehiring an egotistical maniac with bad morals.

You should use commas and periods. It makes it easier to read your derelict opinions.
Adolph Rupp wasn’t an angel, either, old man.

I loved Rick's time at UofL. He was there 16 years and no titles. He left them with a vacated title and on probation. What's not to like?

Person, yes.
But let me ask you a question. If you took Pitino of the 90’s and had him coach U.K. in the 50’s and 60’s, how would he fair? Now remember, competition wasn’t nearly as stiff as it is today and sophisticated plays weren’t implemented quite yet. I think Pitino (or Cal) would win every single year.

All I have to go on is record. Both Rupp and Cal have better records.

I could be wrong, but I don’t recall Rupp or Cal inheriting a program on multiple probations. I’m too lazy to look, but it would be interesting to see Pitinos record his last few years compared.

No way. No way that is remotely true.

That’s the first point.

The second point is what exactly does Pitino have to do to prove to some people that 2020 Rick Pitino is not the same as 1995 Rick Pitino? This is no different than lusting after some 20-something actress or model and somehow failing to realize that 30 years later she doesn’t look the same. He didn’t win at the same clip at Louisville. Didn’t recruit at the same level at Louisville. And he had not 1, not 2, but 3 major scandals at Louisville. And is about to get a show-cause order from the NCAA.

Cal took over a team that lost to Vandy by 41. So there’s not a lot of difference.

And besides, the first class he brought in with Wall and Cousins, it wouldn’t have mattered if we were on probation.

Pitino did coach at other schools before and after UK. I am talking about overall head coaching record.
