Yes. Private labs taking 3-4 days as send out tests, state facilities 2-3 days, and private academic hospitals that have ability to do their own is 24 hour turnaround (test only takes 4-6 hours but they’re bombarded.)

Carry on with what? Me and some others shut down our business. I have a brother who’s a physician who’s treating these patients. We have some that lost their jobs. Most are working from home. Yes my business has been deemed essential. There is a massive housing shortage in the Bay Area, as well as a massive homeless problem. If this industry dies then that problem will be magnified by a big number. Real estate is almost a trillion dollar industry in CA alone.

Virus wasn’t as bad as predicted at first with measures in place since there was no vaccine. Then they eased the restrictions and a second, deadlier wave hit and it got real bad real quick.
Of course, that was 1918 without all the medical treatment and facilities we have now. However, we don’t have a vaccine and probably won’t for several months so the comparison is quite accurate.

Not sure I'd rely too much on what you read about something that happened over a hundred freaking years ago.
