Seen in a later tweet that he did not base this off his opinion but what folks in the program think.

Quickley and EJ back would be massive, although Quickley considered a coin flip I can see the weight of his dad wanting him to graduate and his views on basketball win out.

I said it in another thread but cal needs to convince IQ that by staying he will enhance his stock. Idc what some people think but IQ has what it takes to run the team and you throw in Clarke and Boston and they will make IQ look real nice as a PG. he’s gonna be undrafted or maybe very late second rd this year. I think he has a solid shot at a first round pick if he stays as a PG. giovony from espn has already suggested quickley needs another season based on scout feedback, most draft boards don’t have him on the radar. His stock is gonna rise by showing out as pg in ncaa games not at the combine as an undersized 2.

Cal needs to be in Quickley’s ear that it’s his and EJ’s team if he comes back and he’s starting at point guard.

I’d love if Richards came back and think he could still improve his career trajectory substantially by doing so but I don’t blame him for going and am happy for him. One of my all time favorites.

Hagan's won't go drafted unfortunately.
Nick most likely won't eithier.

There are only 60 slots available. You got 300 something NCAA D1 alone.
You got at least 30 overseas guys.

It always feels like certain guys get pushed out. Il take the heat on this but it's what I see. Worse part of the season for me.

Now for Maxey. He has been a lockdown top 10 guy all year.....best of luck to him.

But if you dont have a guarantee please dont go!

This could be a weird draft. With everything shut down from corona do you take the risk of going undrafted when Euro leagues might not even exist next season?
That’s a good take, I think it’s gonna be interesting. I still expect 4-5 to put their names in and get evaluated. But too, what if they don’t have a combine this year? We really don’t know what’s gonna happen with the draft. A lot of pieces to play out and I don’t believe we will hear of any decisions until something is determined about the status of the draft and combine.

If Quickley comes back he should be the starting 2G not the point. Stop building a team based on what it does for someone's draft prospects. Playing PG in the NBA is very different than playing PG in college. So even if we tried to do that IQ would still have major questions about moving to the point in the NBA. Besides you are best served by highlighting the things you do well and let the NBA worry about the question marks, rather than highlighting the things you struggle at. Bring IQ and make him the teams best scorer. Put a team including a PG around him that features him. I bet IQ scores over 20 per game and will be back to back best player in the SEC. Plus the team will look better an that will make him far more appealing to the NBA than if he were to produce meager numbers in a different role.

I still remember us making this same mistake with Tony Delk in the 90's. TD was a very poor PG and the team struggled. Move TD back to his best position and we win a title, TD was an All American and the NBA drafted him much higher than they would have if we left him at point.

I think that’s setting the expectation for Boston a little too high. He looks nice, but we’ve had a lot of really good offensive players here under Cal. Pump those brakes.

i want to, but i think he's top 3. That's where i am putting my expectation, his size and length separates from other candidate making it harder to defend him.

This is what I’ve been expecting the whole entire time. That’s a great nucleus returning, if it indeed comes to fruition. Those five added to the six we have coming in would be the best team in the country. Yeah, we could use another big or two, but still #1 even if not. Personally, I believe Cal will add one or two more bigs.

i haven't seen it.

if IQ comes back, IQ needs to take these two under the wing....because wow IQ, Clarke, Boston would be by far our best backcourt...
Overall, would probably be our best backcourt of the Cal era. Defenses couldn’t sag off of IQ, he’s deadly from outside. Then those two wings have excellent size, combined with great skill sets. Can’t wait til next season.

That should be an easy sell for Cal. Quickley at best as a second round pick. For a 2G He is undersized, not overly athletic, and not a great shooter. Dime a dozen. If Hagans leaves, Cal can sell IQ on raising his stock as a scoring PG. But even if he can show he can do that, his ceiling is probably late first-round in a year.
But yeah, a starting lineup of IQ, EJ, Brooks, and 2 others would be very good.

Maxey is the only lock. Nick normally would be gone. For all else I think all the uncertainty given thier stock and the virus means you go with what you know which is you have a spot at UK rather than a long shot in the NBA or abroad.

As good as BJ is, I think Clarke is just a tad bit better. Either way, these two are perfect for Cal’s system. I truly believe they will be our best wing duo since AD and Mercer.

I guess I need to find a video of Boston playing, not just highlights. I wacthed him on TV once and honestly was not impressed at all.

Yeah man, Boston is nice but hyping him up as a top 3 offensive player in the Cal era (at least right from the beginning) I think is misguided. It’s like the “we don’t need Keldon Johnson back, we have Whitney coming in!” stuff.

Why would NR be "pushed" out UK would need him in the biggest way next season? Not trying to be disagreeable but if he isn;t getting drafted, why would Cal not welcome him back with open arms?

bruhhhh come onnnnnn

let's get on the hype train!

I stopped having all of the expectations for incoming recruits when we stopped getting the elite guys all the time. I even quit watching highlight videos of recruits. Didn't want to put higher expectations on them and then be disappointed when they didn't meet those expectations. I wait until they are in a UK uniform and see that they are what they are. Then I might complain after that. [laughing]

if you think Richards is not going to get drafted then i really have to question your knowledge of the NBA and basketball in general

If there is no combine, I don't see how anyone but Maxey can go. I really think Richards needed to show out in the combine to get noticed.

Hagans is gonna Hagans. I think he had 1 foot out the door all season, which didn't work out too well. His offensive game is a mess, but he's going to make a huge mistake and jump. He is a 4 year player at any other program.

EJ can transfer if he wants, but that's a bad move. He just needs to stay the course.

IQ, I haven't liked a player this much in a long time. He carries himself well and he's a guy you have to have if you want to make a title run. I hope school is important to him. If he chooses to go, I can see a team like the Warriors picking him up.

If Cal can somehow manage to get NR, EJ and IQ back, the 2021 team would be his best team ever. But sadly, I think we're going to miss out on that opportunity again thanks to the culture at UK. NR, AH, EJ and IQ type players don't jump early very often at any other university. Yeah, there are some, but not at the level we see at UK.

I think you mean DA and Mercer, but your point is taken :D

And I agree. Cal has never had a pair of scoring wings like these 2 guys. If the rest of the supporting cast around them hold up, that team will be really hard to beat. Return Quickley and I don’t see how anyone can stop them from scoring.

I guess I’m crazy for taking the “wait and see” approach, especially with Boston.
