If you aren’t healthy, it’ll also be harder to fight the virus. Not just old people or with autoimmune diseases. America is generally an unhealthy nation.

This is just a complete lack of understanding of the situation at hand. Please stop talking about this topic, OP.
Look at the stats. Healthy people aren’t effected and if you’re a college athlete I’d say your safe as can be. Close the events to crowds...who’s then at risk?

So there are these things called carriers, and they are people who get the virus and then carry it out to society, thus giving it to other people. Just because the carrier doesn't get sick from the virus, that doesn't mean people they come into contact with won't. They also make other people carries by spreading the virus to them. Thus enabling a chain reaction where each new person contaminated will in-turn contaminate 2 more people. Since we likely all know and interact with people who are in a susceptible group, even athletes, it follows logically that would increase their risk of catching and spreading the disease.

You think 18-20 yr old kids are sitting in their homes? These kids are out playing pick up games and going to the mall. Gimmie a break

This is the first thing you have been right about. Unfortunately a lot of people are going to ignore this and continue the spreading of the virus. I would suggest listening to PeterAttiaMD on YouTube for an explanation on why this is dangerous and should be taken seriously. I understand this seems like an over-reaction, but it's probably necessary to slow this down.

Also, healthy adults are very low risk, but there still is risk. There are a lot of unknowns with this virus as the mechanisms have not been completely worked out. Not all deaths have been immuno-compromised or the elderly - there have been some deaths of younger people succumbing to the virus. Death rate in China in age bracket 10-39 is 0.2%. Not high risk but the few that are in that .2% had their lives end much earlier than expected.

Everyone should understand this.. THIS IS NOT THE STANDARD FLU. The flu decimates your immune system and makes you feel TERRIBLE, thus causing you to self quarantine. COVID-19 has a 3-14 day incubation period where you can spread the virus where you don't have symptoms.

Schools in Ohio are on an "extended" spring break. I believe they said 3 weeks. I guess they'll revisit that depending on what goes on the next couple of weeks.

Oh ye knows what he's doing. He knows that this is a sensitive subject and one that will make people respond.

Wait until you find out how Game of Thrones ends.

The Outsider (Stephen King series on HBO..soooo awesome. It's like True Detective meets Stephen King's IT), The Mandalorian (Great Star Wars series on Disney+), and Cobra Kai Seasons 1 and 2 on YouTube Red (I mean, who doesn't love The Karate Kid movies) are a few real solid, fun, interesting, and great series to watch, Gonzo..I highly recommend all of them.

Nobody under the age of 70 dies from this unless they’re a meth addict. Just shut the doors to the crowds and move forward.

It is not just about the people that go to the games, it’s about everyone they are in contact with. So healthy person goes to a game is in contact with 500 people there one of which has the virus then they get it and take it home to their grandparents or child with asthma.

That said, it seems like suspension of the season, wait and see, would’ve been a better step. No reason there couldn’t be May or June madness.

This person should be banned....I have cancer, people like you put my life in jeopardy! I am only 45 years old and NOT A METH ADDICT
Be careful and stay safe. I have autoimmune and found out I have diabetes just yesterday so even at 38 I'm at risk. People like the OP are possibly going to get us killed because a chunk of our nation just doesnt give a crap about anyone else but themselves....

I'm willing to bet you are well under 70. If you over 80 like me you might have a different opinion. It is unlikely that a healthy young person will suffer greatly from the virus, but they can take it home to old folks like Grandma and Grandpa or a mom, dad, sister or brother who have an underlying health problem.

If you have an underlying condition that weakens your immune system or you are elderly, you should probably stay home and avoid crowds. Leave everyone else to live their lives as they please and stop creating mass panic where it isn't warranted. The vast majority of people who have tested positive have had nothing more than a low grade fever and a runny nose. It's nothing more than a glorified cold virus.

The Swine Flu pandemic that happened a few years back when Obama was in office killed THOUSANDS of Americans. It was way more deadly than Covid-19. Yet people barely mentioned it, let alone creating mass panic and shutting down the entire country.

This coronavirus had already been spreading around the planet completely unchecked for several months before the Chinese admitted to it. Everyone on Earth is going to catch this virus at some point in their life. We are beyond the point of no return. If people think cancelling a few basketball tournaments will stop the spread of the virus, they are totally kidding themselves.

Some healthy people get sick as crap too. Drain on health care. Take up beds. Use medical consumables. Take up space in ERs. Infect old people. Need I go on?

This really isn't just about the risk of dying, as my investments are wailing loudly about now. There is a broad spectrum of society and infrastructure at risk.
