closing schools isn't new to this virus. I know schools in some parts of the country were closing due to a flu outbreak in late January - well before this corona thing was on the radar (at least officially)

I think its an over reaction but then again, there are a number of incidents where some moron knows they have it or is showing symptoms of it and decides they aren't going to miss out on the fun, then wipes their snot on every handrail, doorknob and seat handle they touch.

Some people don’t mean to. I have a habit flicking my boogs and holding a nostril while blowing the other out. I played baseball. It’s a habit.

If we're lucky, the arrival of spring and warmer weather slows this virus down. If we're unlucky and it spreads just fine in warmer weather, then what's happened in China, South Korea, Japan, Italy happens here and we'll be scrambling to lock things down.

Folks let’s just accept it, there will be NO tournament this year. With Harvard already cancelling their classes and presumably more D1 schools to come, they’ll at the very least postpone it. Never thought it would actually come to this.

I hope they don’t. SEC title game mid court 7 rows up is going for 300 right now. Best deal since the Berlin theatre tickets went on sale as the Russians were making their way to the Bunker.

Conventions like AARP that have high populations of the elderly, immune compromised populations, affected schools for cleaning, Neil Diamond concerts etc should rethink mass gatherings.
But conventions involving primarily healthy individuals should not be cancelled without good reason.
Coronavirus is not a media created hoax nor is it the zombie apocalypse....it is a new flu pandemic that requires common sense measures and recognition for what it is and isn't. It's not a black/white issue.

China imposed some pretty severe restrictions at great economic cost, but now appears to have turned the corner. If it gets bad enough we may have to do the same. Until the smoke clears I’m going to avoid flying and crowds. Since I’m retired that’s easy. I’m wearing latex gloves when I go out, and reminding myself not to touch my face until I’ve washed my hands. At 63 I’m in the vulnerable population.

Hard to say what’s worth it and what’s not. It hasn’t made tickets that much cheaper. I’m just being cautious and still doing what I want based on risk factors and desire.
Based on what I see here many seem misinformed and influenced by agendas so it’s much like politics. I’ll stay clear of both and just do me.

Quick question.

If it gets bad enough can my family stay at your place under the Appalachian Mountains?

I was talking to my cousin yesterday and we got on the topic of the coronavirus and he was telling me about a guy somewhere (I think maybe New York) was diagnosed with coronavirus and his doctor told him to stay quarantined at home but he didn’t listen to his doctor and went to a party.

The lead German scientist who discovered SARS (also a coronavirus) and has studied it probably more than anyone in the world believes the R0 will reduce by just .5 from 3.0 to 2.5 with warmer weather. Meaning that for each person to contract it they will spread it to 3 people, reduced to 2.5 with the warmer weather. Not a great outlook IMO.

IMO the primary reason all theses institutions of higher learning are closing is due to legal issues. I'm not convinced it's for the public well being.

Other than the players, personnel etc..., attending a basketball game is your own free will. Attending class, if you want a decent grade, not so much.
