I still do not know very much about Ashtons absence, except what Cal publicly stated. It seems several on this board know a great deal and have decided that it is best that he not play for us . Can you guys in the know fill the rest of us in with the facts. I am sure you would not be throwing him out if you didn't have all the facts.

Count me in as one that wants Hagans on the floor, assuming playing him doesn’t cost us. I’m 100% confident that he wouldn’t play if there’s any question regarding this situation. I do want him to be held accountable, which I have to assume has or is being done. We need all hands on deck. I would think he’s chomping at the bit to make amends. I hope that’s what happens.

Nobody knows, so we go by the events. And when you look at the whole thing, its just not a good scenario. Your worker is having bad performance, arguing with his supervisors and even some employees, and now he no-shows. In any other circumstance, that worker is probably fired.

Now, im not saying we give him the boot.. but doesnt that aound like a worker that's checked out?

Thats how I see this. Just dont imagine a scenario where Hagans comes back and is like "needed a few days, sorry team, lets go win this thing".. i think some folks here are wishing this so, but dont see it happening.

I think what you say makes a ton of sense and I largely agree with your post. That said, his Snapchat video at the end of the Florida game really seemed to show someone that truly cared so it's really hard for me to know what to make of this whole situation. At least we will hopefully have an idea come Friday.

Cal said he hasnt spoken to him. And if we believe that, then it doesn't sound like Hagans is trying to get back to the team all that hard. Sounds to me like a kid who has doubled down and waiting for Cal to come to him.

I have no clue. It’s just a damned weird situation. As I said, I can only assume if he plays the university doesn’t believe there’s any eligibility issues. I’m 100% certain about that. If he doesn’t play, everybody should be worried. It would either mean there is some question as to eligibility or he’s just burned his bridges with his behavior. Personally, I think he plays and all is well (at least for the most part), but that’s nothing but a SWAG on my part.

He didn't murder someone. He just let his emotions out of control and lost his cool.I'm sure you were a saint at 20 and never did anything wrong.

Nah, I did some stupid stuff at 20 and paid the price. At 21, I was already starting a career. Don’t use emotions; use logic when forming opinions. I guarantee you that it’s not just “he just let his emotions out of control and lost his cool”; I believe that it was an ongoing issue. I’m not hating on him; we just need to stop making excuses for poor behavior. I know the truth hurts, but give me painful truth over flowery BS.

I don't agree with what he did but trust Cal to handle the situation. He has dealt with difficult player personalities over the years and it came out fine.

Oh man this is scary. This is killing the chemistry, we never get answers but I understand. I hope Cal tried to reach out to him, we need him!
We will not make it far without him, but if he’s being stubborn? Just leave if you need to.

Y’all are over reacting big time. Cal is sick, wasn’t around the team yesterday or today, which is a good thing, we don’t need the team getting sick before the tourney. If you guys really believe Cal hasn’t talked to Hagans then you’re delusional. Cal will only tell the media what he wants the media and all of us to hear. If you really believe Hagans wasn’t suspended for the Florida game then you’re also delusional. Cal just isn’t going public with it for Ashton’s sake. Cal says everything will be fine. Hagans videos during the Florida game are enough to assure me this time away will most likely be the best for him and the team. He gets to step back and re evaluate his game and mindset. Gives him time to rest and be 100% for the tournament. He plays this weekend, starts? Doubt it. I’d say he will come off the bench for the Friday game. Y’all need to stop overreacting and let this thing play out, we will be okay either way and if not, it’s not like we can control it anyways. Have faith fellas. We got a confident bench, a hopefully rejuvenated point guard, and two more studs in Quickley and Richards. This tournament is WIDE OPEN this year, we should be excited. We’re one of the teams that have a strong shot of winning this thing. Anyone could get bounced opening weekend. This will probably be one of the most exciting tournaments in recent memory and we have a heck of a team that’s been playing some of its best ball as of late minus one freak half. GO BBN!!!

At 20 I wasn’t responsible for leading a blue blood program as a sophomore with NBA aspirations.

It doesn’t need to rise to the level of “murder” for him to blow the entire season. This is not good, I get we want it to be ok but it might not be. Cal suspending a PG that’s a sophomore starter is not common in any decade of his career. People need to understand it.

Fellows , the fact that Cal said he hasn't talked to him (Ashton) may well be that Cal told A H they would talk at a certain time or day. Some on here are acting like Ashton is refusing to call Cal. That may not be the plan and Cal will initiate the contact. Ashton is a good player, he is driven to be his best. He has total command of the offense. His play has fallen off but he wants to be perfect. Perfection isn't easy. He chews on Nick and then, promoted as fact, turned down the chance to go back in the game. A good leader doesn't refuse to go in the game. Cal will make this work for the kid and more importantly, the team. I wouldn't be surprised if Hagans best games are this week. I am more concerned about the corona virus than Ashton. He will be fine,,,,,I hope.

Young man = responsible for own actions.

Agree

At nearly 21 he's too old for this. His implosion cost us the ut game. That's a fact. His teammates had to rally to make sure it didn't cost us the uf game too.

Now that we know everything, it's almost certain he cost us a very serious shot at a title last year.

He needs to be in or out so the team knows what they're working with.

Some were sent to the jungles of Vietnam at age 19, fresh out of high school, so pardon me if I don't give a 20 year old a pass for acting dumb as hell. Being a good team mate, or a good buddy, means you don't do stupid crap that affects your buddies. Might get a pass if he was 16, but any 20 year old know better, because I have to think they are told all the time what they can and can not do on social media that would give the school a black eye.
