When does SEC vote on POTY?

If it is awarded to the best player on the best team, he should get it. If it is awarded based on overall performance for the entire conference season, regardless of the team record, Mason Jones should be a lock.

Joe missing time killed your season. I like your new coach. How do you and other hog fans fell about him?
Myself and the fans that I know absolutely love Coach Musselman and the entire staff. With the Top 5 recruiting class, the eligibility of Connor Vanover, and a second season with the new system the Hogs should be much better next year. If Jones and/or Joe decide to return for another season, the team could be very dangerous.

The one that should not get it is Anthony Edwards. He should be a lock, but he hasn’t helped Georgia at all and they haven’t been better this year with him.

There’s got to be some drama going on in Athens to have potentially the best player in the NBA draft and you ‘help’ your team to 5 conference wins.

Empty stats on **** squad. (Arkansas)

IQ deserves it.
So your vote is for Quickley for the POY but why? Is it simply because he is on the best team, or do you actually believe he has had the best sesaon? Please explain, because the statistics certainly don't show it.

Quickley is probably Kentucky's MVP, and Jones is one of five finalists for the Jerry West Award, but don't be surprised if Reggie Perry actually wins it.

Jones is legit but Quickley is on the best team and has played lights out over the last ten games.

That is where it gets interesting and confusing. Has Quickley outperformed Richards over the entire SEC Season, or if the award could be given to a player like Edwards, Jones or Perry even though their teams weren't nearly as good?

Tell me about this top 5 class. Not being a dick, genuinely curious.

Is there any site that compiles SEC conference game stats only? Couldn’t find it, but seems like it would be very meaningful for this decision between Quick and Richards.

Yes, those are for the whole season, non-conference included though? Since the total games is 31. Not complaining, much better than nothing and I’m too lazy to compile the stats myself, thanks for the link.

Ok click on Kentucky in the team standings and on the next page scroll down til you see “show conference per game” and so on.

Damn SEC has 4 schools(UK, UT, LSU and Ark) in the top 10 and depending who AUB signs might have 5 in the top 10.

Not to mention, if Kuminga (UK, AUB, Duke, ?) reclassifies, he would not count towards team rankings for the 2020 class even though he is number 1 overall in 2021.

Allow me to church you up real quick...remember a fellow by the name of Jodie Meeks (torched the Hawgs for 40+)? Well, he was clearly the best player in the SEC in 2009 and did not win POY. You wanna know why? His team wasn’t that good and the award went to Marcus Thornton of LSU. It will be the same with Jones who had a nice year, but his team wasn’t that successful. It will be Nick or Quick!

I still like Richards for the award. Quickley put up good stats but doesn't feel as dominant as Nick.

It's because Edwards has no intention of making his team better. If I'm another player on that team, I'm Uber pissed that Crean literally mortgaged my entire season so a top talent can come there and Jack up wild threes in hopes they can beat UK at home.

over the last few seasons i actually grew to hate arkansas under Mike Anderson and now that hes gone i wouldnt mind arkansas taking a step forward and being more relevant. Florida seems in coaching limbo, LSU are cheaters, the flamer Auburn posters and such are making me dislike their program... arkansas at least for now doesnt have any negatives to check.

Maybe I need to be "churched up" because somehow how I don't remember her, and have never even heard of her!

On a serious note, yes, I remember Meeks and the game that we couldn't cover him and he couldn't miss, but it goes back to nobody ever knows what the actual criteria for these awards are. Richards and Quickley both have had a very good season, and play on the best team, so if that is one of the top criteria, one of them will win, and in my opinion, Richards should get it before Quickley.

Again, if wins/losses aren't considered as a major contributing factor, it will probably be someone else.

.

Fair or not it is usually not given to a great player on a bad team. If memory serves me correct Jodie Meeks, despite having an unbelievable season, didn't win it because the team was a dumpster fire. I think Marcus Thornton won it due to LSU being the SEC champs.

Perry is a very legitimate candidate, but in my opinion, and by glancing at the statistics, Petty isn't even close to the top four or five. Maybe I am missing something, but at any rate, it is an interesting discussion.
