All I can say, if that is real money, he sure as hell didn't work for it, so, something shady is going on and I want him GONE YESTERDAY!!
It isn’t his. UK has investigated this issue long before now. They knew about the video long before now. Don’t sweat it.

I take it people have only viewed this message board and this message board only . What happened in this thread would happen on the message board of every single team that has a message board.

I seriously don’t get why people keep throwing the only UK fans behave like this stuff around .

I used to say this but I got sick of it. Think about how narcissistic you’d have to be to constantly take shots and single out your own fan base for something that every fan base does?

Now on to Ashton . It isn’t smart and it’s corny posting money on social media . I don’t think this means he hasn’t been himself because he posted the video . This could very well be the kind of kid he is .

No clue how he got the money but I’ve always assumed that guys across all schools over America have received something that they shouldn’t be receiving and that’s why I don’t bash other Universities when it happens .

Hopefully he’s fine and will be on the court soon which is what it seems like .

I have seen what goes on here on the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Rockets message board . I’ve always assumed it happens everywhere . I’m shocked some think it’s only UK fans that argue a topic they involved the team they cheer for .

I read the first 3 pages of threads, I suspect the remainder of the posts are the same

it’s a bad look

and regardless what was determined , no one outside UK believes it - and that’s why a player at UK can’t do this stuff.

UK as a program works incredibly hard to do the right thing in college basketball in an era of rampant cheating, and we have paid a price for it watching other programs land recruits and win championships, and as a fan I have little tolerance for a dumbass move like this.

It’s pointless. For example that herd of gutless dumbasses from U6 are too stupid to change their mind. The media, other coaches etc know the truth. The fan bases of other schools are nothing more than cattle. Following whatever rumor fits their longing. I could give a damn about such drivel.

Like I said, I dont really care what other fan bases say, except for the annoying aspect of seeing it around and getting **** from my friends. Whether the media or other coaches know the truth is irrelevant though cause you know how it will be spinned. They sure as hell dont want to see us do well. Plus, nobody knows what the truth is at this point. All I see is Ashton with a **** load of money. How did he get it?? That's a question that's going to need answered. Whether it's been answered or not, we dont know.

I go back to another poster saying....if this was a Kansas or Duke player, they would be drilled straight in the ground on here. We sure as hell wouldnt have anyone saying....oh, it's no big deal. It is a big deal! Our starting PG is on camera with a wad of money that he shouldnt have. That's a big deal. At least it has always been a big deal when other schools have something like this happen. Downplaying it is hypocritical, IMO.

Two things:

1. It's an awful look, because any athlete in the modern age should be able to figure out the headache they're causing their school by doing this. The kid is obviously immature and needs to get it together.

2. I'm not sure why some are assuming those are all hundreds. The only time the video slows down enough to see a clear number is at :19, where there is a giant zero in the corner of the last bill. On hundreds, the zeros aren't that tall nor are they that fat. It's probably a 50.

If 50 is the best he has and he's not spreading out the middle ones to see like a real baller, is he really balling? Wouldn't you want people to see all the hundreds, especially on the outside?

If any normal kid has the middle numbers hidden, wouldn't you assume that they were lying to get attention?

That whole stack could be 50,000 or it could be 500 depending on the bills that he is hiding in the middle. Which do you think is more likely?

Im on a STL cards board, Chiefs board, Blues board, and Memphis Tigers boards ( Hate them but I’m an alumnus and live in the area)....all boards do this. All of them.

Honestly, this board for all of its warts is actually one of the more moderate of them all. Especially college boards.

Visit Volnation for confirmation. If it weren’t for the constant pump pump crowd this place probably wouldn’t even fight all that much.

It all makes sense now. Per Rupp Rafters he’s shaving points and that’s where all the money came from. [jumpingsmile]

Is it because he's not supposed to have money? He's supposed to be poor in college?

Are you listening to yourself?
He is not supposed to project an image of impropriety. And guess what? If you do something that requires compliance to get involved you projected the wrong image.

this really shouldn’t even be debatable but apparently it’s important to you to make a misguided point

Of course scumbag schools like The Filth, U6, the dung flies and Auburn who hired a cheating lying stack of crap get trashed on here. They don’t like it, they can read elsewhere because is all true.

If you think we are well liked or respected elsewhere, guess again. U6 thinks we are the scum of the earth no matter what we do. You think this thing with Hagans makes it worse? Hell, it’s better than the crap they just make up.

Who said he shouldn’t have the money anyway? Makes zero sense.

Yeah, I know you don't care, because this comes back to probabilities, as everything in the entire world does, and the chances of a college kid without a job scraping together a couple hundred from legitimate sources (birthday gift, left over stipend, whatever) are vastly higher than the chances of him scraping together tens of thousands.

If I were Cal I'd grab 1,000 in 1's and give it to him to make another video laughing and spreading it out for all to see.

A dude in the car gave it to him to flash. That’s the most plausible thing since UK investigated it and considered it closed. No way Mitch would let Ashton play if there was any evidence it belonged to Ashton. Zero.

Also, this could be used as a positive for the team heading in.

Motivational way I'd approach this as a coach?

"Social media is hammering us. They're hammering your brother, Ashton. The computers think a 14-14 team is better than you. The fans are turning, no one believes anymore but us."

We are fortunate to have Cal recruiting our players. In the world of 5* recruits, hanger's on, agents, AAU circuits and the like we have mostly had kids of good character. This may be one that slipped through the cracks. I've felt that way since sitting next to some shady characters he was winking at, sitting right next to me, during the Vandy game.

Once again, Mitch would kick Ashton off the team if there was any chance this would affect UK. I don’t even like Mitch but if you think he would put his career in jeopardy over allowing Hagans to play, then you have absolutely no idea who Mitch is.

OMG so I was curious and went on youtube and there is cheap prop money they use in music videos you can be that looks really real. There are tricks to make small amounts look big so you can look like a baller. There are kids so who knows if they would do this or not, but there are a lot of options for kids wanting to look big and bad in videos. Not saying that's what Ashton did, don't know. Just was curious and it's a thing with kids and making vids.

It’s not terribly appropriate but it’s not illegal for the kid to have money. Ashton didn’t come from a poor family or the streets. As long as there is not an illegal source for that cash, it doesn’t matter at all. Not bright to draw attention to yourself like that though, no matter who you are.

It said they were aware of it and had addressed it, but said absolutely nothing about the outcome. That statement doesn’t really say anything as to the results. No where in that statement did it remotely indicate it was a non-issue. By saying they had addressed it, it could mean they turned over some information to the NCAA. That could mean info showing there’s nothing to the money or it could be different.
Where is that statement?
