28.5M people took a cruise in 2018, fwiw. People like visiting multiple places in a 7-14 day time frame, having great eats, gambol, listen to bands, check out nice scenery, etc. Pretty much stuff that would make you miserable.

Late to the show but I kind of agree on cruises. They are fun enough and I generally always have something to do and a good time so long as you accept them for what they are. That said, they are just a step above Panama City or Myrtle Beach as far as vacations go. It's basically a chance for the fats and poors to act like they're something important for a week. I'd much rather do the All Inclusive or somewhere nice but when you take a vacation in a pinch, a cruise alright as long as it's with a decent crew of folk.
