Lunardi put out a fresh bracket today.

Cats hold steady as a 4.

1 Seeds- Baylor, Kansas, SDSU, Gonzaga
2 Seeds- Duke, Florida State, Dayton, Maryland
3 Seeds- Penn State, Seton Hall, West Virginia, Louisville
4 Seeds- Kentucky, Creighton, Auburn, Villanova

Surprised, really thought we'd jump Louisville as a 3.

Not sure how he justifies Louisville being above us still, after 2 HORRIFIC losses last week, and considering we have the head to head victory?

Also- HOW ON EARTH is West Virginia still a 3 seed?! 3 straight losses, their best win on the season is a HOME win against a Texas Tech squad that we beat in Lubbock (WVU lost in Lubbock).

Losses to unranked Oklahoma, Kansas State and St. Johns.

How are WVU and Louisville listed above us on the seed lines?

Makes no sense to me.

WVU and Seton Hall are the ones that don't make any sense to me. Seton Hall presumably was on the 3 line last week and lose 2 games yet don't drop? Also as you stated WVU is just way overrated, can't believe they were a 2 in the initial rankings. They are 2 in def eff and have good strength of schedule, thus the high net ranking.

Agree on those two, especially WVU.

I think going by what the committee put out 2 weeks ago UK at this moment is between the last 3rd seed and the 2nd 4th seed ( 11-14 overall seed) . I don't pay much attention to the brackets people put out now as we know where we stood 3 games ago ( the 17th overall seed ) and with what has happened there is no possible way we are not somewhere in that area. IF we win out we will be a 2 seed . Until we lose again I am not going to worry about any other scenario to be honest as winning out this regular season isn't beyond the scope of likely. In all honesty tonight is the big game . We win this one and I'd be very surprised to not win out.

Avoid being a 4 or 5 in Baylor's bracket, and I'm good.

No truly great teams this year, except possibly Baylor. We'll have to win some tough games no matter where we get assigned.

This year for the first time ever, I'm not so sure a four seed in most regions wouldn't actually be better than a three.

I would put Kansas in there as well. I still think Kansas ends up number 1 overall. San Diego St. would be ideal, but then you are looking at Duke in the round of 8 in New York.

3 Seeds- Penn State, Auburn, Villanova, & Kentucky
4 Seeds- Creighton, Seton Hall, West Virginia, Louisville

This makes more sense to me...

Agreed.

As of today, that's how it should look.

The fact of the matter is though, beat LSU, Florida, and Auburn in the next 2 weeks, and we're suddenly a solid 3 seed, vying for a spot on the 2 line.

Just win, baby.

We get penalized heavily by the committee if we do not do well in the conference tournament.

Makes no sense to me.

Seton Hall and Penn St. are seeded too high.

Its pretty obvious the committee and lunardi are relying heavily on metrics like offensive and defensive efficiency. And its obvious they don't think too highly of the SEC. But JFC, at some point you have to start actually watching games and taking into account who actually wins and who loses. West Virginia? Come on

We just haven't had any major competition in the last 3 weeks. UT on the road was a good win, but Ole Miss and Auburn were meh. Win these next few games, and we're going to ascend pretty quickly IMO

If that were to be correct come selection Sunday, that would make the Cats the top 4 seed. If they are the top 4 seed it would be in the sdsu bracket.

If Lunardi says we are a 4, this is good news as it means we are a 3 or a 2.

Last I looked Jerry Palm still has us a 5 seed along with 6 loss Colorado and 7 loss Butler and Marquette none of which are ranked higher than 17th in any poll. He also has Auburn, U of L, WV and Oregon as 4 seeds and none are ranked higher than UK. And of his 4 teams that are 3 seeds Seton Hall, Penn St, Creighton and Villanova only Penn St is ranked ahead of us by 1 spot in both polls. So out of the 11 teams he has equal to or seeded ahead of us we out rank 10 of them.

I know that seeding isn't based on poll rankings but there is also something called an eye test that computer metrics can't replicate and UK isn't a 5 seed by any stretch of the imagination.

We can play ourselves into a solid 3 by losing just one more as long as it's not at home or a blowout on the road OR even a solid 2 if we win out and win 2 games in the SEC tourney IMO. If we can somehow win tonight, then win at home vs. Fla and Auburn, things will change dramatically for us in a good way.

Not necessarily, it is more based on Geography now. UK would prob go Midwest if the top 4, Indy region. If they were the last 3, they would prob go to LA if there were no West teams on that seed line.

They change the goalposts to benefit the old tv market as well.

The Evansville loss is whats hurting Ky. If we win out we'll probably be 3 seed. If not for the Evansville loss we'd probably get to a 2 seed if we win out. We really need a W tonight!

Stay away from Baylor and Kansas regions and I'm good, I'd like a shot at Duke, revenge from last year would be awesome
Lets assume UK gets a 3. Now the real question is where do they fall on the 3 line. If UK is the top 3 they are going to Indy with Kansas, but you prob get Dayton as a 2 so you would prob take it and hope Kansas gets beat. If Auburn or UL are ahead of them on 3 line it could push UK West, which is prob 2nd best scenario.

As long as they're put in Tampa for the first and second rounds, I'm happy!

For regional sites, I'll take anywhere, as it's more about matchups at that point.

Give me Dayton in Indy any day of the week.

There are a few certainties in life. If something’s going to go bad, well...

As it pertains to Kentucky basketball; Whatever seed UK should get; it’ll be 1 or 2 seeds lower. The seeding people always give us the lowest seed imaginable and recently like placing us in rivalry games and in the toughest bracket, no matter what the seed is. Expect no different this year.
