Huge game at LSU on Tuesday and a team with a crap record coming in BUT they have won 3 in a row in blowouts . Really hope we come out fast as those 2 guards for Ole miss can put a hurting on anyone if you aren't defending them well.

Ole Miss took Miss St to pound town yesterday too. Definitely need to be all business. Hopefully how the Rebs played and Cal being able to remind them of our effort the first half v second half will generate the necessary hustle.

I think our guys will take care of Business. Also, LSU plays at Alabama and could possibly lose.

I've been saying it for a while Ole Miss plays really hard. When you watch them it's hard to match them up to their record. At least as of late. They like Vandy have looked like a different team the past month. On the entire season, they haven't lost to any Quad 3 or 4 teams. They did beat Penn ST and 8 of their 11 losses are to #58 or above. They just seem to come up short against ranked teams usually.

It took AUB 2 OT's at home to beat them by 1 point and now they have 3 decent wins in a row. Beating SC by 14, FL by 17 and Miss St by 25. They like Vandy seem to be playing their best BB of the year all of a sudden. Not only is this a trap game, but against a game opponent. They beat Miss St 50-24 in the second half. They don't turn the ball over and they are good from the line. However, I do trust our cats and I think they will be ready. I actually wish this game was on the road because I know they would be fired up. It's weird with this team they seem to love the road. The louder the crowd the better for this group even if it's booing.

I like us to get another tough fight from a team playing their best and impose our will on them. @LSU will be a huge game. They have given us trouble in the past years and they have only lost once at home this year. I feel like if we can get that game, another tough road game it will go along way to showing how far this team has come. I have watched LSU a good deal and they are a pretty tough team. We have had to do most of our hardest work on the road this year and this would be a big one and another notch in our belt as this team gets stronger and stronger facing tests that a lot of Top 25 teams aren't getting.

No trap games in Rupp, Cal wins about 95% in Ky. and we already lost our 1 game there this season 6 mths ago.

Ole Miss is a 1 man band, with 11 Ls. 1 man bands typically get shut down by UK.

Also the Rebels have played 3 straight in Oxford, that will not be the case Saturday.

Ole Miss is obviously good enough to run Mississippi State off the court. Our players need to take every game seriously and not get ahead of themselves. Just take one at a time.

Bama has lost so many heartbreakers, its been a season of what ifs. You wonder whether a team like that folds or gets more determined as the the season plays out.

Calling a game against a mediocre Ole Miss @ Rupp a “trap” game is a reach imo
I suspect you are just looking at their record and have not seen them in the last 3 games? They are whooping teams and bad . Hell they were down like 15 on tuesday and still won by a ton . Those guards are lethal . As Ride said it is very hard to match up what you see on the court with Ole miss and their record but once you realize all their losses are to top 50ish teams it makes a tad more sense. They really should of beaten AU and came close with LSU as well.

I think we will pull it out but I think the line will around -4 and that might be pretty close . For sure will be a game in the high 70's or low 80's as Ole miss won't be sitting on the ball like many do against us . I'd say we win 82-79 with Richards and EJ being the stars and going for 24/11 and 14/10 respectively.

Yeah I think Bama folds like a cheap tent the rest of the season they literally do everything horrible except shoot 3's and really they just take a ton but shoot 35% ( and 33 % in SEC) so even that isn't something they excel in . LSU's upcoming losses if they have them will come against UK , at Arkansas if Joe is back and maybe at one of the UF/USC with USC being way more likely then UF.

Anyone who's seen more of Ole Miss, I'm aware they have pretty good guards, but do they have any decent players in the low post? Thank you.

Boy didn't Arkansas crap the bed against TENN?

If they’re playing as well as you say, @caneintally, this is not a trap game. There’s no excuse to not be ready or to be looking past them.

In their last 3 wins, they lost the rebounding edge to Miss State by 2, Fla by 1, and won the rebounding against SC by 10.

Yeah you got to hope after the early letdowns we had and seeing teams who are playing well that we would be prepared for any fight that Ol' Miss brings. I just hate listening to how we should blow everyone out, we're not there yet but we are teetering on the edge in my opinion.

I like what the announcer said at one point last night - the Houston Rockets style doesn’t work at the college level. Taking 50 three pointers a game is a recipe for a 10 loss season. The team that takes the most threes usually loses.

Blowouts are going to be rare as long as Cal is coaching. But I will take blowout second halves all day long. We have quite a few of those this year. I expect the same on Saturday.

Yeah but the letdowns after leads can be the fault of the players too. Bad shots, bad turnovers, bad decisions. Foul trouble.

Bottom line is trap game is an excuse. We just have to go take care of business. Not a single person player or coach should be overlooking this game.

Would you give a guy 15 points and that mediocre team in a bet on Saturday's game. I mean they are mediocre. :)
Didn’t know the spread came out 3 days before tipoff? You must be a fortune teller. The OP didn’t say anything about covering the spread. They’re 13-11 (4-7) in the SEC. That’s pretty mediocre.

Anyone who's seen more of Ole Miss, I'm aware they have pretty good guards, but do they have any decent players in the low post? Thank you.

Their starting frontcourt consists of 6'9" Khadim Sy (averages 9.5 pts and 5.4 rebs). He's physical in the paint, but not much of a scoring threat if we can box him out. They also have 6'7" KJ Buffen (averages 9.7 pts and 6.1 rebs). Undersized but a solid athlete and will shoot threes if left open.

Two capable bodies, but neither are a major threat. Nick and EJ should both have big games.

As you said, the guards are how they eat. Tyree and Shuler can both light up the scoreboard like a Christmas tree. Have to keep them in check.

It's also worth noting that Ole Miss lacks depth in a major way. They only have one guy on the bench that plays any meaningful minutes, true freshman Antavion Collum (6'7" F). He leads their bench in minutes played (9.3 MPG on the season). Averages essentially 1 point and 1 reb per game. Their 5 starters are all playing near or above 30 minutes per game. Sy's minutes are a bit skewed because he's prone to foul trouble.

Yeah I was being funny, but Miss is playing better now then they were. They did a job on SC, Miss State, and FL.

They have some impressive wins in Oxford (their last 3 wins were all in Oxford), but have struggled on the road. Could be wrong but I think @ Georgia is their only road win.

There are no easy games left on the schedule no matter where they are, even at home Kentucky gets the other teams best shot.

But in the end that fact does seem to help our young teams grow when we get to tournament time. If we could have only made our free throws in the past two tournaments we could have made a deeper run. I'm hoping that free throws keep being one of our strengths as we go forward this year.
