Lost to the Hoosiers. Lol. We’ll see how those ACC wins matter in March. You play 7-8 in the tournament. Kentucky’s 8th man in 2012 was Eloy Vargas. 9th was Polson.
Yep. A deep bench use to matter more if you wanted to try to run and gun and wear a team down.

But in today’s game with all the TV timeouts, there is too much stoppage in play to really fatigue teams by running players in and out.

FSU is good but they aint Kentucky good.
ACC is way down and our Guards would run circles around theirs.

Having a deeper bench would allow fouls to be spread out more. I am sure there is a gray area where too deep of a bench necessitates a longer growing period for freshman, and where a shallow bench (as in our case) causes freshman to become gassed earlier in the season and an overload of information.

They've always gone very deep. They won't get past the sweet 16 though don't pick them in your bracket they'll screw you
I never noticed them having such a deep bench. Normally I'm only concerned about SEC teams. I saw this because I checked the box scores of the bigger games today. Has our bench ever been 11 deep?

2015 UK

FWIW with Florida St I'm seeing the 5 starters

Then 6 guys from the bench that play any significant minutes.

And two benchwarmers.

Very similar to 2015 UK

I have no dog in this fight. I just think it's neat to have THAT many players on the bench. That's all. In a perfect world a coach would just completely overwhelm an opponent with maybe 3 platoons. :flushed::flushed:

Neat? Platoons? Cool. Your team is on now.

I agree in theory but it is just different here. I think the only way we have a situation like that is if you get some KY guys who want to play here so bad that they are willing to sit a year or two or hell maybe four.

Ultimately with almost any team the rotation is 8 to 10 guys. If 2 or 3 of your best players are in severe foul trouble or foul out you are likely to lose as your 9, 10, 11 guy just isn't going to be capable at this level.

Try harder. There isn't a single post you can find of mine that suggests Duke is anywhere near my list of teams to like. Not one. Nor can you find a single post that suggests I'm anything other than a critical, hardcore UK fan.

How's your Gators doing?
