UK -14 in rebounding and Hagans being terrible are what cost UK this game.

Hagans was bad all game, and the rebounding didn't all of a sudden turn at the end. Even with that, we were ahead by 3 with 8 minutes to play. From that point forward, they called 9 fouls on UK and 3 on Auburn.

Auburn shot 45 percent of their field goal attempts from 3, yet still ended up with 44 free throws. About 30 percent of our shots were from three, yet they essentially doubled us at the line. That's not even possible in a game between two evenly matched teams if the game is called the same way on both ends.

I think you get a bad rap on this board sometimes. But if you think that didn't turn the game, then you probably are just a contrarian trying to stir the pot.

The results will be much different in the tournament, right?

Probably.

I mean the fact remains the past few seasons, the SEC has had one of the higher foul rates compared to the other 31 conferences.

This season it's ranked 1st.

The ranks the past 5 seasons out of 32 conferences.

5th, 2nd, 4th, 9th and 1st.

Now I don't want to get into all the reasons. Some of it is the teams. Lots of aggressive teams. We have feasted at the line. Some of it is refs calling the game ridiculously tight.

But regardless, no one wants to see this. No one wants to watch this. It's ridiculous. And I find it pretty sad that they don't really seem to want to address it at all. It shows a complete disconnect between the SEC/NCAA and it's fanbase.

My grandfathers gig is in my basement. Have to retire it though. Still have my carbide lamp around here somewhere, probably can’t buy carbide anymore though. Okay, okay, back on topic, refs are suckers. Hog mollies.

I would’ve grabbed my kids and walked to the bus when they started calling a foul on us every time we touched them and let them kill us all night! Of course I’ve got a temper and don’t make millions to Coach! Haha. Seriously my blood pressure is too high for that shiiit! I don’t care to lose a game, but those guys work too hard for that to happen!

Maybe it was Jay Bilis! I hate that sonofabitch with everything inside me!! “ Foul on Kentucky “!!!,, “Oh they missed one, Richards fouled him and got away with one”!!! “Kentucky got by with another foul “,!! All night that’s most of what he said! They wasn’t letting us win with Gameday being there the first time!! I hate to post right after a loss before I have time to calm down a little bit, but Jay has got to go! Lol.

Seriously, it’s no wonder they killed us on the glass, we were so afraid of getting another foul we couldn’t even breathe on them!!! I hope we get them in the SEC Tournament. Maybe Nick will be allowed to play then! Rant over! On to the next one i guess, but that one took a little something out of me.

Not defending Bilas at all...but I wonder why analysts don't mention the refereeing in a negative way.
Told not to by the network? Afraid they'll lose their job? Conference come down on them?
You hardly ever hear an analyst talk about how bad a game may be called.
Bill Walton calls out college officiating all the time . He's always yelling , " Why would you call a foul there , no one gained an advantage , there was no need " .

It’s honestly just not fun to watch anymore. Even if I attempt to take my bias out about how imbalanced it is against UK, the flow of the game is ruined.
Exactly how I feel. I watched part of the Lakers/Blazers game. It was a fun game to watch. It was basketball.

This trash we have at the college level (SEC and Kentucky road games to be specific) is unbearable to watch.

Hope Kentucky wins, I may tune in for the last couple of minutes... but I can’t watch this anymore.

I’ll watch until we once again get sent home by an inferior team who exploits our weaknesses without us making any adjustments while getting ****** calls against us all night long. Love it.

The worm has turned.

It used to be these threads contained debate about what the team did wrong, along with the obligatory, “why do we always have one of these threads?” posts.

Now, volumes of people come in and pile on the refs and little credence is given to the trolls who place all the blame on the players/Cal.

I find it refreshing that so many have pulled their heads out of the sand.

Not sure what this thread is all about but I don't just give up after we lose a game. The mentality on this forum is certifiably insane. We are posting "We are winning #9" threads when we win a game and posting "This team sucks" when we lose a game. Oh and that is probably the same person posting both threads.

We don't have a dominant team like 2010, 2012 or 2015. We don't even have last year's talent or even the 2017 team that made the Elite 8. This team has more of the 2014 feel to it. Which means we could go any direction. That team struggled to 10 loss regular season and a #8 seed but they showed they had a high ceiling in knocking off team after team in the big dance. I feel the same about this team could go in any direction. We have the talent in a down year to reach the FF but we also could drop 8 or 9 regular season games as well. We may very well do both.

The story has not yet been written on this season. Hopefully it ends in a great story.

I too am tired of all the same things others have pointed out.UK is my team and I have watched and listened since I was six years old.I won't stop now,one thing these refs can't do is run me off. If Cal punched one of them at mid court he would have my full support and I'll be watching to see it

This team has it's faults to be sure but I don't think we cheated to get them here and they have Kentucky on the front of the jerseys, that is enough for me.

What I think happened is the technical called on Pearl made the refs have to even that up with not wanting that to be pointed to as determining the outcome.

It was at that point that the majority of the calls started going against UK including the ridiculous calls on EJ and IQ.

There were definitely some bad calls tonight. But we need to wake up and realize that the game has changed over the past few years and so has officiating. The days of running two bigs and pounding it inside to draw fouls is a thing of the past. This might surprise some but officials no longer call games that way. Teams want to spread the floor with perimeter guys, move the ball and either shoot 3's or drive inside to draw cheap fouls. Today you are rewarded for playing that style of basetball. Look at who leads the team in fouls per 40 minutes... Sestina 4.9, Montgomery 4.5, Richards 4.2

The question remains, will Cal ever adjust?

I’m tired of listening to the announcers creating new ways to cover for the bad officiating.
Funny thing is, Jay Bilas always talks about how ridiculous fouls are or how “that was a foul” UNLESS it’s something Kentucky’s way.

He was ******* trash tonight. Absolutely horrible to listen to. I would have rather listen to Bill Walton and Dick Vitale commentate a game together than listen to Jay find a way to justify a ******** call made against Kentucky.

I still watch and cheer for the Cats just not emotionally vested anymore. Just seems like a big scam anymore, like you can see the fix is in but no one does sh$t about it. I keep telling myself just make it till March then there will be good refs but that's not true either once Vegas has big money on the games. Ref will really ruin this sport, such a shame.

I grew up playing ball anywhere I could even if we didnt have a real rim. Around 10 years ago I'd get mad if people were talking while the Cats were playing, now I drink a beer or play with my little girl while they are on.

I did like the Kobe shirts tonight and thought it was a tastefully chosen way to honor his family and memory.

It’s been a rough season in terms of entertainment value. The refs need to have a 15 minute press conference after every game.

44 free throws for auburn, hit 33 lol
In our 4 SEC road games, our opponents have shot 127 FTs to our 107 FTs. A lot of our opponents shoot way more 3s than us yet they are supposedly getting fouled more. Those 4 opponents have taken 91 3s to our 57 3s. Before SEC play we were making more FTs than our opponents had attempted. It doesn't add up very well.

You can blame the refs all you want these guys cannot defend. When you're constantly out of position you're gonna get nailed with fouls
This team has guarded with their hands all year, they either can't or refuse to stay between their man and the goal, so they reach in and get a foul called. now granted last night was far too one sided, but our guys simply foul too much, and until Cal can find a defense these guys can play, this is how it will be. This team is NOT a good defensive team, nor offensive team.. They are super athletic and that is what Cal recruits.

This is true also . With Cals "everybody switch" philosophy teams know they can run a little offense and set some screens and Ky's defense is in total chaos . Miss matches everywhere .Wisconsin showed the world in 2015 and good coaches have been doing it every since .

fiddlesticks. our recruiting is fine. and when 1 and done ends our recruiting will get better. if you’re not quite good enough to make it straight out of high school and wish to find out how good you need to be to make it, where do you think you’re going to go? to some coach who plays zone in the pac-12 where it’s pretty? until the whole industry of paying players is up and running things will probably stay swell on that front. when the culture changes players will play where they want. other than that it’s about the big stage and finding out. and cal’s record in march is as good as any.
