Auburn is better than we are

Any team is going to be better than the other team when they shoot 20 more FTs and the most in 20 years and make 13 more FTs than the other team shoots. We shot better from 2, from 3 and from the line, but hard to overcome 44 FTs.

Road games are tough. Let's see what happens when Auburn makes the return trip.

Just told the wife, “let’s be honest, this isn’t your typical UK team. “We’re just not very good and our margin for error is very small.” We also have nearly zero bench production. Also can’t afford for Ashton to turn the ball over SIX times. Especially when he didn’t play but what, 20 minutes, give or take.

We have to hope the kids figure it out for themselves. I have no doubt that we beat Auburn at Rupp, but come tournament this me we have to mature and adapt to adversity.

We won’t know who is better until we actually play them in a game of basketball. I’m not bashing refs or crying foul, just saying a game like that has no rhythm and shows us very little of who has actual basketball skills. Even the fouls called throw off the stat lines. The rebounding is concerning, but it’s easy to see that our guys felt they couldn’t be aggressive at all given the way things were called.
We will see later. It happened and we lost, but I don’t really find it telling one way or the other.

Have some of you NEVER seen a team have a bad game before? How big a loser to you have to be to think they'll play that bad from here on out.

Hagans being out got us in BIG trouble. He played 20 minutes, some of those crippled by fouls. Bet that won't happen next time.

We got 0 steals. That is the number right before 1. ZERO. See Hagans being out.

Nick Richards never quite got into the flow of game. Nick is a weapon. Hagans wields that weapon most often. See Hagans being out.

We got beat by 11 on the offensive boards. We only had 6, Nick got 4 of those.

It was an away game. We only got beat by 9. It happens. You jumpers, go up another 5 or 6 floors. Make sure to take a good run before you leap. You no longer contribute to the fanbase.

Better than we are. It what it is. This team has a sweet 16 ceiling. Very frustrating.

When you get over your anger, you're going to feel really stupid.

We were on the road, playing in front of the rowdiest crowd Auburn will have all year, which led to the refs sending Auburn to the line 44 times, and it was a one-possession game with about 2:30 to go. That's a toss-up game, at best, and suggests that, if anything, we win at home or even on a neutral court.

We always see all fans come out when it is a loss and no one posting when we win. That is how it has been on these forums. Kentucky was up by 1 with 3 minutes to go and after the big three from the corner and then all the FTs after that game was over. This game was close from the start to the finish tonight. UK had a 5 point lead with about 8 or 9 minutes left in the game and game was back and forth until the 2 minute mark. When a team has +20 in free throws and each player has 4 fouls midway through the 2nd half it will be tough to win that game on the Road.

We could be undefeated, and lose to the Lakers in an exhibition and someone would post we suck and will be lucky to get to the sweet 16.

and UK could have 10 losses at this point and beat Vanderbilt’s woman’s team in an exhibition and someone would post they’re going to the Final Four. Hyperbole goes both directions on this board

This is what not having the best of the best talent gets you...it's what Cal needs to win. We have a "supposedly " t3 recruiting class every year something no other team in the SEC comes close to. Wonder what the problem could be? We had beaten Auburn 14 straight l think before BP and 3-4 since.

Samir Doughty was a 3 star guard, we start 3 5 star guards and he dominated us. Playing a modern style with spacing and driving lanes matters.

Right, and I could see how both extremes are annoying. Still, one sounds like something a fan would say, and the other sounds like something a rival would say. If you’re saying things about your own team and sound like a Louisville fan, you’re doing it wrong.

I thought we ate first?

Since we have a top 3-4 roster (rankings wise) every year and seem to struggle most regular seasons I think that's because of two things. Poor asst coaches and poor talent evaluation. Our 5 star guys can usually do only one thing well and that is jump. Most of them can't do anything else. Shooting, passing, iq, rebounding, toughness, heart, etc. Bruce Pearl is signing 3 star guards who have made us look silly two games in a row now. He has a system and recruits to it. We seem to look for the number of stars next to the name and then design our system to fit their style. It's why we always look so unorganized the first 4 months of every season.

Most of the night Auburn beat us with 5 seniors on the floor and one freshman, they are the ones who did all the damage. This was a ranked veteran team at home. This team is going to struggle in those environments against that experience. When Hagan's and Nick give us what they did last night along with no help from the bench we will lose every game on the road.

I remember a statement Rupp made to me one day years ago” you lose a game they want to boil you in oil they want to tar and feather you
Then you win a game they want to buy you lunch build me a statue The fans don’t know crap
Let them pay $5 to get in the Coliseum and let me coach everything will be just fine [banana]

After every loss this crap always comes up. People act like losses should never happen. We’re as dangerous as anyone. That was Auburn’s biggest game ever on campus and we had a chance with as poorly as we played.

^^^This. No doubt UK brings the best talent year in & year out & AU isn’t even close yet to being able to do the same. Part of the Cats problem is they don’t have the senior leadership that Auburn & other clubs still have. The five seniors that BRUCE alludes to includes Sir Isaac Okoro who looks league bound after only on year. Time will tell if the Aubies can adjust of players one & done in the future, but for now Go BOTH BIG BLUES!!

We did beat Pearl 2 out of 3 times last season but that doesn't fit the narrative so bash away

The common denominator is our last two losses is the horrid play of one Ashton Hagans
Pearl speeds game up and jumps ball screens and Hagans freaks out. Hope he learns from it and plays under control on the 29th

I don't think so AT all. What, like 40% of their points came from FTs. What happens if that game is on a neutral court? What if it's at home.

Congrats to Auburn, they made us their biggest game of the year and took a **** load of help from the officials to beat us.

In the tournament, there are no road games and officiating evens out tremendously. Our worst calls and officiated games have always come in SEC play.
